Why is it that you feel safer on a plane than in a retail store?  Hoping to hear what the airlines are doing to make you feel safe rather than your retail stores are just horrible.  :fingerscrossed:

Werent the odds of docking on the larger ships not all that great?  While I agree that I'd happily sub in OC for many Caribbean islands, it would stink to not be able to dock anywhere.

The cleaning schedules and the filters that have been out in place. A lot of the newer jets changes the air in the cabin every 2-3 minutes anyway.  All the employees and fellow passengers are required to wear face masks while on board.  These measures alone don’t do a whole lot but when you add them all up, the barriers that have been out in place are strong and will help to mitigate the spread.

I went to target yesterday’s and only about half the people were wearing any face covering and there was no employees wiping/disinfecting carts after they had been returned.  The plexi glass put up in front of the cashier was dirty

  2. Well I see the Virgin Islands are reopening to tourists on June 1 and airlines are returning to Jamaica and other popular Caribbean areas beginning in June also.  Other lines are saying they will relaunch with a small number of ships and grow from there.  I was just wondering is MSC had made public what they might do.

  3. Has anyone seen any announcements about a restart to service?   I’ve seen the plans for carnival and RCCL but haven’t seen much of an actual plan from MSC.... thoughts?

I hope you're right and those that have summer cruises booked are able to sail. My main concern is if sporting events are allowed 0 fans, then I'm not sure how they justify cruises to have any passengers. Now, if/when stadiums are allowed to have spectators (even at a reduced capacity), then cruise lines should be able to get the green light.

Airplanes are still flying.  A lot of them have reported higher demand in 90 plus days and many will be restarting more long haul flying as early as late May and June.

Airline schedules and hotels accepting bookings in  May are no more meaningful than cruise lines accepting bookings past mid May. They don't cancel months and months in advance . They're all hoping they can resume operations...it doesn't mean they can or will.

🤦‍♂️   Never mind.  You’re wrong but never mind

Your evidence of that is??? Has any country actually said that?

Just because their restrictions have currently been announced through May doesn't mean they're reopening in May. The restricts can easily be extended,  just like the cruise line's cancellations that were originally only through April 11 or so have been extended through mid May, and in some cases longer.

My evidence is that we are returning to flying to MOST island in the Caribbean that have been canceled the last 2 months.  The hotels are reopening in a lot of places.  Demand has obviously been strong enough to begin to go again, which is good. I simply said I’m optimistic that the ships sail after June as currently scheduled. If you don’t go then that’s not my deal.

You have up until 48 hours to cancel... just wait it out. No need to panic or cancel ahead of time. Patience grasshopper, 😉

I have no intention of canceling.  I know how this works and what they are up to.

  8. I’m wondering what they will do too.  I’m supposed to be on 4/26 on breakaway.   I really would not be shocked if they attempt to start up again after the 30 days are up.  With so much rhetoric about reopening the country and all that.  I don’t know what to believe anymore.

I have a better chance of getting a date with Halle Berry than cruise ships sailing in April.

Well that would be pretty awesome Hahahah.  I just hear some of the rhetoric from certain parts of the government, airlines are still flying although very reduced.

  10. While I think it’s highly unlikely April sailings go on as planned, I do see it as very minimal possibility.  The want of some of those in power to get the economy back working could be as equal to some of the companies needs to go back to working. I do have an April sailing booked from Miami and as of now if they are sailing I I intend to go.  I’m an airline employee and reduced demand has caused my company to severely reduce capacity, although it doesn’t look like there will be any shutdown (that could change). It will be interesting to see how this all plays out over the next few weeks and months...

  11. Here is what I know.  There seems to be evidence that the reps were directed to say things that were not even remotely true. That has absolutely nothing to do with what the president or governor does or does not do.  I’m just wondering what kind of impact it may have going forward.

I also have noticed that NCL’s public/media relations team is so far behind the other companies it’s sad.

  12. NCL is being investigated for the way they have handled the situation.   Apparently someone has sent internal emails of how they would try to get people to rebook instead of cancel.  They would tell them that the virus doesn’t live in warm so the Caribbean is perfect.  Stuff like that.

Wonder how this will affect them.

I already find myself wavering on wanting to come back to NCL.  Their customer service has been suspect and they really have been quite silent through this thing.
