I'm platinum for some time now with Carnival, and had cruised almost exclusively with them until they raised their solo supplement.
Carnival now has dozens of cruises with 0% solo supplement. They started this last September or so.

We had a late afternoon flight on Southwest out of MSY. You can't check-in until four hours before your flight and your pre-security options at the airport are limited. I would find something to do that morning and head to the airport early afternoon.

I usually book 6 months or less out. I have never booked my next cruise while on a ship either. Someone in this thread mentioned there is no more future cruise credit. Is that true? There are no advantages to booking a next cruise while on board?
The Future Cruise Certificates are no more, but you receive on-board credit for booking a cruise while on a cruise.

Thanks for the report. The Lido deck activities concern me. We have a 7 year old daughter and were planning to sail on this ship next year. Should we reconsider?
It is less indicative of the ship than perhaps that particular sailing. I have experienced similar on the Conquest whereas I did not witness what the OP describes when I was on the Triumph a couple of months ago.

I always purchase a few of the large bottled waters from Bon Voyage prior to sailing. The cost beats the inconvenience of bringing my own.

This Fall we are doing a Repo on NCL Dawn & have already reserved at Nachi Cocom in Cozumel to try it out for something different. I enjoy the beach with food & drink and my DH loves snorkeling.
I could not recommend it more highly. Check out the Cozumel forum for pics and further reviews.

5) the Lido deck 4J cabins in the very forward section, have they been converted to 6J's and if yes can anyone post a pic of what the look like
Yes, the 4J cabins on Lido have been converted to 6J cabins and two 6K (grand scenic oceanview) cabins were added. There are some good videos on YouTube of these cabins.
-
On the Freedom, 6K cabin #9201 sleeps two and #9200 sleeps 4. It came out to $40 less total than a balcony cabin for my sailing. I also had to convince Carnival that these cabins actually existed as there was no way to book them online.

I booked one for next year almost 500 days out because a) the room category I booked will not have a price drop and; b) our group decided as a whole which ship/date/itinerary to book for next year.

As with comedians everywhere, their comic genius (or lack thereof) is directly related to the amount of alcohol you have consumed. :p
-
I concur that your plan sounds good. Please go to the rental car companies at Hobby with plenty of patience. It is very disorganized in my experience.
-
It is also a "self-reporting" system currently in Galveston. After you proceed through US Customs, someone is randomly yelling out to go over to a counter to pay TX taxes if you have alcohol. I know many people that proceeded directly past it.
-
Sounds like a good deal. I am getting $1100 worth to pay off my next cruise.
-
Thank you for coming back to update!

We need to get Shy and Gambee on a cruise together... now that would be a review!

Also..how strong/weak are the drinks? I plan on taking advantage of the free margaritas or whatever they serve that's free but I'm kind of a lightweight. I don't want to drink like one drink and be laid flat because I'm drunker than a skunk.
You will be fine. I had to ask for an extra pour.
-
Many will - some with and some without a surcharge - if you contact the hotel directly.
-
Thanks for the review. We will be on this same sailing later this year.
I love the eastern side of Cozumel - a world away from where you dock it seems.

How far in advance does one have to book the larger suites?
For example the Captains suite on the Sunshine??
I watched them on the Conquest to see when they would go just for the fun of it. Both were still available two weeks prior to sailing. It is my presumption that these are more often sold through upselling than through direct booking.
-
But I read in here that somehow people convert the points into cash. Is that by using it to pay off a portion of your cruise that's already been paid for with your Carnival CC?
That is correct. You can use it as a statement credit against a Carnival purchase.

Thanks again oh, and I keep hearing about this band blackjack. Are they still on the ship? Anyone know what production shows are on? I'm assuming it's a Playlist correct?
Blackjack is still on board. The shows are not the Playlist Productions. They are 8 More Seconds, Dancin' in the Streets and Get Ready.

If the cruise I have booked goes in to this sale would it qualify for a price reduction? I booked ES rate.
Yes.
Fingers are crossed that single rate comes out for our Nov 3rd Fascination cruise... Any experience from you veterans about single rates being released for this time period?Solo cruises for late November on the Fascination last year came out the 2nd week of September.

It is a brief chance for them to upsell you on some services but he also points out the bar and restrooms. Took all of maybe 90 seconds.

Where did you find the updated list? I went to Carnivals website and they still are listing only June 2014. Tried that link you posted and nothing:confused:
If the link does not work for you, go to GoCCL.com and click on "Single Occupancy Offer" under Featured Specials.
I just noticed that there is at least one listed into October.
Transportation to Galveston

That is a very good price for RT transportation to Galveston, as others have stated.
