  1. Seattle also has a reservation system akin to TSA pre-check. Never used it because I have pre-check but the details would be on the airport web page. Might save a little time but traffic is probably the biggest hurdle, not the airport check-in. Flights before 11 or 12 can be nails biters!
  2. On the Dawn now, wine tasting reinstated beginning this cruise , no $25/$50 obc. Also no letter allowing restaurant substitution. Don't know if this is fleet wide or specific to each ship.
  3. I have the opposite itinerary next month but leaving from the west coast. My home airport to Seattle to Reykjavik. Return is London to LAX to home. Very happy with the flights. As direct as possible from my location.
  4. With all the issues with airlines it's hard to say. Their policy used to say they didn't but I had an overnight layover in order to get to Stockholm for the cruise I'm on right now. But it was a last minute flight change so might have been all they could find. Original itinerary had me arriving the evening before, as requested - not sure what would have happened if I hadn't had that 1day deviation planned.
  5. Is there a logical reason? Yes, NCL is doing what is best, from a business sense, to be able to book flights and keep from losing money. It's their program, their rules. Just like the final pay date and other deadlines that may seem arbitrary to those of us who aren't privy to how airfares are determined and negotiated with the airlines. For my most recent trip I got my airfare info about 30 days out. And the update came 2 days before I was scheduled to fly out - so I had to completely change my plans, etc. because of airline cancellations, strikes, who knows.
  6. Apparently you can't check in online for International flights - I've run into that a couple of times recently. United has it set up that you can send a picture of your passport so you can get checked in and didn't need the actual passport at the airport. But getting the image just right did take a bit of effort.
  7. Recent experience (on a layover in Munich right now), opposite itinerary as deelightful. Originally booked from my small airport in Oregon to Denver, then Heathrow to Stockholm. Heathrow to Stockholm was a SAS subsidiary, supposedly not affected by the strike. Thursday, 2 days before I was scheduled to leave I got a new flight schedule (almost missed it because it came same time as upgrade notices, new invoices etc). New flight only got me to London -oops. So an hour or so on the phone to get new flights. New schedule is SFO to Munich (5+ hr layover in SFO), Munich to Stockholm (12+ hr overnight layover). So instead of my planned overnight in Stockholm, I arrive 8:15am, day of cruise. But I can't fault NCL (other than the ending in London part) - I'm assuming the airlines caused the changes. Had I booked it myself I'm guessing it would have taken me a lot longer to get new flights, etc. My flights back from Copenhagen are perfect at this point - to Reykjavik to Seattle to home, the most "direct" route possible. International flights normally include luggage. Seat assignment policies vary. I chose my seats on United and Iceland air, Lufthansa assigned seats at check-in. I'm solo, so more flexibility.
  8. I think you missed the point. If you are using points to upgrade, it is 60k in points to upgrade from inside to balcony or $800 & 30k in points in this scenario. I usually book ov and use my points to upgrade to balcony but looking at a spendy So Africa cruise and also debating which way to go.
  9. I sail on Monday and my bid to a club balcony was approved yesterday (Thursday) morning. Haven't heard of anything other than balcony upgrades for that cruise. You could check with plusgrade to see if your offer is pending, processing or expired.
  10. DSC price increase was effective April 1. If you booked prior to that date AND you pay before you board, you pay the lower rate. Otherwise, you pay the current rate whether you pay in advance or have it billed to your room.
  11. Doubtful until you get on the ship, as requirements change daily. And some venues may require covid precautions over and above what a port requires. Best to just be prepared with a mask and your vaccine information anytime you get off the ship. That specialty shop, museum or restaurant you want to patronize might just have a mask requirement.
  12. My bid (OV to club balcony) for July 11 on the Dawn is processing, balcony bid has expired so looks like my upgrade is good to go! Bid was pretty minimum, $150.
  13. I sure hope so because that's what I'm doing this weekend.
  14. Exactly why I specified in most places because I didn't know their destination.😉
  15. You might be fine, just don't take a pcr test for boarding. Rapid test should be negative within a week or so for most people. However, if you take a PCR test now, you can ask for a letter of recovery from your doctor and you can use that for boarding in most places. Details in the testing FAQs .
