  1. I've been to the ship's medical facility more times than I'd like to remember, most often for bronchitis but one episode of bacterial diarrhea which I don't like to think about.

The doctors were always great, their staff was too.  With the diarrhea they came to our cabin to treat me, thinking, I guess that it was Norovirus.  The only problem, if you could call it that, was that the names of the drugs they gave me for various things were unfamiliar to me.

I had what was possibly food poisoning on the Celebrity Xpedition ship that cruises the Galapagos.  The ship's doctor seemed to be stalking me, LOL.  I'd go to dinner and she'd show up either approving or criticizing what I had on my plate.

In all cases except the Celebrity one, charges were put on our cabin account and we'd then submit the bill to our insurance.  I can't say it was always easy to get reimbursed.  They didn't charge me for the Celebrity incident.

  2. Bonine knocks me out as well as my Ambien does, LOL.

A couple weeks ago I woke up with a vertigo attack.  Meclizine was prescribed recently for my husband who had a virus settle in his inner ear and caused extreme dizziness.  I took a Bonine for the vertigo and slept for a good 12 hours.  I guess it affects different people in different ways.

You will tender...everyone does.  Simply go get in line...the trip is only about 5 min, but it take time to fill the tender.  Your guide knows this, and will wait for a bit.  Simply get in line, and get on the next tender!

Won't they have to get a tender ticket first?

I was going to say that.  It works great!  Also take fabreeze and Clorox wipes.  First thing we do when we get to the room is wipe every surface down!  Don't forget the telephone and the TV remote.  Also go out on your balcony (if you have one) and wipe down the railing and the chairs.  It only takes about 10 minutes to do.  I got noro once and I vow never to get it again!

I still don't understand how wiping down your cabin helps.  Once you walk out the door you are immediately in danger of being infected.

  5. There was a footrest in the shower stall on the Breakaway.

Someone mentioned a plastic bag to empty the contents of the refrigerator.  All I did was ask the steward to remove it.  Probably safer than doing it yourself and then having possible disputes.

What time did you arrive at the port?  We're Platinum as well and when I did the online check-in it said not to arrive before noon but that seems very late.  We've never cruised out of NOLA before - do they have a special waiting area for Platinum, etc. like they do at other ports?

Around 10 am.  No waiting at security or Check in.  No special waiting area but we did get called earlier because we are Platinum.

I do not recall seeing any in the closet of my cabin on the NCL Breakaway last month...unless they were elsewhere that I didn't notice them...I think I remember them saying something or read that they would be provided by the crew at the muster stations if necessary.

There was a tiny glow-in-the-dark sign on the wall next to the closet door in our balcony cabin that said, "Lifejackets are under the bed," or words to that effect.
