  1. Is anyone aware of a freighter/cargo line that has good wi-if available to the pax? Aware that this is certainly not the norm but with wi-if becoming more and more ubiquitous, we are hoping that freight/cargo lines won’t be too far behind.
  2. When cruise lines serving the US market start rolling the DSC/Subsidy/Gratuity/Hotel Service Charge (whatever in blazes is the phrase du jour) into the base price of the cruise, then I'll participate. Until that happens, I will continue to remove their attempt at ill gotten gain from each and every cruise.
  3. Guess I've not been paying much attention to the specifics of the sale. Are the details not available on Princess.com?
  4. Only if there are those who are willing to subsidize Company A’s payroll obligation.
  5. I’d be really interested in hearing @chengkp75’s take on this.
  6. Please let us know how (or if) this is resolved.
  7. Scroll through the board for any cruise line and you will find the very same sentiment expressed.
  8. Short answer.......they don't.
  9. I always write, "Warm Wash, Warm Dry" on the instructions and have never had any shrinkage. Also, we've always had everything (except socks and underwear) returned on hangers. Even tee shirts. Seems that we've been lucky as such service clearly varies ship by ship.
  10. We will be following your adventure.
  11. This is, fortunately, correct. You are free to join then in any other part of the ship. YC is reserved for those who choose to pay for it.
  12. We, as others have, wrote in YES/NO and checked the appropriate boxes. No one cared. A total and complete NON ISSUE. Carry on😀
  13. Just off the Orchestra. Purchased (pre-cruise) two 40 piece packages. Laundry bags and 4- carbon copy order sheets were available in the cabin with more available on request from the room steward. Everything was returned washed, dried and folded AND undamaged Very pleased with the service. As we pre-paid, nothing was entered on our guest folio. On other lines where we have complimentary laundry, the laundry charge is entered at the full amount then a separate credit entry zeroes the charge out. I found it interesting that MSC does neither. No charges or credits of any kind are entered. Kinda like it never happened. Laundry turned in by 0900 was returned by 1900 the following day. We compared the price of pre-purchase vs the cost of buying once on board with the included discount. The pre-purchase price was a few dollars less. This was all done prior to the most recent price increase. Hope this helps.
  14. Partially paid for by the cruise line? I would submit that it is the responsibility of the cruise line to pay their employees. As I said once before, I pay my employees. Period. There is never a line item on the invoices I send to my customers asking/demanding them to subsidize MY payroll obligation to MY employees. Using the cruise line model, I would partially pay my employees then invoice my customers for some percentage of my payroll cost and expect them to "make up the difference". Pure nonsense. How would any normal rational thinking person feel if they received an invoice from a provider with an "employee gratuity" line item included? How many here would simply line through and ignore such silliness? I know I would. @morpheusofthesea while you and I seem in nearly 100% agreement on our positions on most everything, I do have to quibble a bit with your use of the word compassion. I show compassion by acts and deeds along with contributions to worthy charities. A service provider is gainfully employed and is therefore never the recipient of our compassion. They are providing a service and if the service they provide is above and beyond, we show our appreciation by tipping individually.
  15. Absolutely agree. Nevertheless, that’s clearly subversive thinking around these parts.
  16. Your observation “the cruise line is forced to make up” is interesting. Isn’t it the responsibility of the cruise line to pay their employees? I pay the salaries of my employees and have never asked my customers to directly contribute to those salaries with a line item charge on my client invoices. What am I missing?
  17. You be are correct. As I think about it, I put a $500 gift card in my cart some weeks ago. Seems I missed my window!!
  18. To be fair, they got MSC right. 🤣
  19. Interesting perspective. Give life to the whole idea of YMMV. Wife and I were on the Diamond out of San Diego for Yokohama this February into March. This was our first sailing on Diamond. We concluded that the Diamond tied the Coral as our favorite ship. We've been on most of the current Princess fleet (except the really new ones) and absolutely love the Diamond. Given that she spends her time in Japan and along the US west coast, we are sorry we will not able to sail her again any time soon.
  20. I'm an AARP member and just got the following when attempting a purchase: Item(s) in your cart are unavailable The following item(s) are no longer available: $500 Princess® gift card
