I have noticed that Lido Deck cabins are sought after by many.  It seems to me that it would be noisy.  Why do people want to be on that deck?  I'm trying to make decisions about a 50th anniversary cruise.  I will ask other questions in future posts.

Location, close to all the action 🙂

  2. Personally I wouldn't.  I am on a 4 day out of Galveston in January....We have the drinks on us while in the Casino, and Nachi Cocom already paid for where we will be most of one day.  Plus can't have the first day in Galveston.  Just doesn't seem worth it if you are planning to be off the ship the 3 port days and first day out of Galveston.  There are 3 of us and we will each bring our bottle of wine when boarding as well as taking advantage of the Steak House the first night where we will get our complimentary bottle.

I'm platinum and never wear a lanyard.. It reminds me of before I retired and had to wear one, nothing to do with showing what color my card is. When I look at my card I don't feel pride, rather I just feel fortunate to be able to cruise as often as we do. Do the 'perks' that go with the color of the card make a major difference in my cruise? No. Are they nice? Yes, but we've sailed on a few other lines and enjoyed every cruise even without and perks. We're just happy to cruise.

I don't wear the lanyards because I was on deck one day when a strong wind blew the lanyard right off someone and the card went a different direction.  I would rather keep it tucked away.

Leaving with a group in December and looking for a present copy of the Carnival Dream Fun Times to share with them.  Half the group are first time cruisers.

Fun Times for the five day Galveston-Yucatan-Cozumel cruise.

Thank you in advance, and yes, I used the search feature and found nothing.

If you don't get responses let me know, I have a copy of a 4 day that someone posted not to long ago.  Don't recall if I have seen the 5 day posted.

  5. Honestly I thought cruises were great before all the novelty food places, I would prefer less of that and going back to better quality in the MDR.  Unfortunately I think some of that has declined as they are serving way more passengers now.  Seems like really there doesn't need to be so many choices in the Lido either - I can only imagine the waste there.   Go with the most popular choices overall.

I wish you well! I have one left and will not book another. Going to do the 5 day or longer, unless Galveston brings back a smaller ship to do those 4 days.

Yeah, I am taking a quick trip with my Aunt and Mom.  Hopefully all will be ok, those 4 day cruises you just never know.  I'm pretty sure the plan is eat, drink, lay in chair with cocktail, eat, drink some more, casino, eat, drink, drink, drink, sleep, repeat....that is, when the two of them aren't smoking.  I don't foresee much activity.  🙂

  7. There will be the children that aren't in school yet as September and October used to be my fav time to vacation...once my son started school we are very restricted now.  There will probably be less of the kids roaming around as most of those kids are in school this time of year.  Definitely noticed less children on cruises I have taken in Sept, Oct, May.

Kids can formally create a user name at 14(?). For awhile one of my kids was able to check his account, and the other couldn't because she was still too young. I also scan their accounts now for cruise discounts. You never know what's hanging out in the "My Offers" section...

I just checked to see for my own son, they have to be 13 to set up an online account.

Have you ever tried to drink a milkshake without a straw?  Doesn't really work.  Some drinks need them.

I mean, I really don't care one way or the other.  I just think if people keep making a stink about things they will go away entirely.  I have metal straws if I absolutely need them but since my Rodan friend said drinking with straws causes mouth wrinkles I have tried to not use them much 🤣

My DH is type 1 diabetic.  A sugar straw is probably not a good idea.  Is plastic still available or do we need to invest in a re-usable straw?  We will be on an 11/4 cruise.

RC had paper straws on our cruise in March.  Those were equally awful.  I think people just need to get used to drinking without a straw if these are our choices.....

The kids club not being open the first night explains why there were screaming kids on either side of us the first night we went.  We went 4 of the 8 nights on our last cruise and the first night was the only night kids were there.

Yeah, some parents apparently think they can take their kids everywhere with them and everyone just needs to deal with it.  We don't have that mindset.  Our son is 9 now so we could take him and he would be quiet and polite; last time we cruised he was 6 and not ready for sitting and behaving that long.  So at the time, we went when the kids club was available 🙂 I mean, it is supposed to be a nice/enjoyable dinner-for everyone.

I have a question: Why is everyone so anxious to get on the boat so fast? I know we all look forward to our cruises, but is there some event I am missing that happens early?

Basically just because the vacation is paid for and people are ready to get started.  Bars are open, food is being served, pools/slides are open, etc.  Start relaxing and having fun as soon as possible.

33 days until our Bermuda cruise on the Sunshine.  It is a 7 day cruise out of Charleston with overnight stay in Bermuda.  If you had to pick a night to go to the steakhouse (the fist time we have tried in 10 cruises) what night would you go?  We do not drink so do not care about the "wine deals" on the first night.  Any opinions are welcome!

We usually do the second night ( free wine / kids club not available first night) and the last night (last hurrah before heading home).

  14. The only advice I can give you is to not use Breezes through Resort for a Day.  I still want that money back 🙂

We did book the British Colonial Hilton once for the day and it was great, walkable from the cruise port.
