Unpredictable time of year.... Some years you can swim in the ocean in april, and other years you are shoveling snow in mid May....

If the wind conditions are ok it docks at a seawalk. If not its tender boats. Euribia was in Nordfjordeid one time last year and that one time it was tender boats.. The time 0800 till 0930 seems ok...never been on a cruise but i guess the buses waits for the passengers... At least in a port like this... Road conditions are no problem, maybe a bit narrow road from Olden up to the glacier, depends on what you are used too .. The skylift are a bit weather dependent, not much to see if its foggy. If you drive you could also drive on road 698 one of the ways. This road are called 'panoramic road'

I live in the "area"... Have not heard anything but good reviews about the fjordex company. Buses stand ready 100 meters from the ship when you dock, and are easy to find. I would have no second thoughts by ordering a trip from there.... I think from Nordfjordeid there are no other options than Fjordex. Just above 70 ships this year, and these trips available to most of the arrivals.

The top link are the correct one. The taxi central are 150m from the ship. If you dont get an response on you mail the service personell on land probably can help you order a taxi. Might be a hop-on-off bus/train but did not see it last year.

From 1st May 2024 buses over 11m will not have access to drive to the top of Aksla. Because of narrow road and chaos on top. I guess there will be other options available... Ålesund city are starting the work with better access, but that will take several years. The Stairs up are quite steep, but doable if you are fit. Aksla is well worth a visit. There are probably also electric bikes for hire... A nice trip to bike a few km east to Hornindalsvatnet lake..

.......... Its from 2026....... The regulation are for the world heritage fjords... Geiranger, Nærøyfjord and Aurlandsfjord (Flåm)

Not so easy to predict weather, but mid august is normally quite warm, ill guess between 15 to 20 degrees, higher if sunny... August is warmer than May. Could be rain, recommend you to check weather on https://www.yr.no/en a few days before you visit.

I live in this area... Can confirm that the mornings are much better for viewing than the afternoons... The light are much different, and the air are much more crisp. In the fjord to Olden and Nordfjordeid (the same fjord, but Olden are deeper) you often have a summer breeze going on from 3pm and after...but in the morning the sea are often calm like a mirror. But mid May are very unpredictable... Can be zero degrees and snow, or it can be 20 degrees and almost summer....

Nordfjordeid is a really nice port where you dock right in town. Some activities available, check out : www.portofnordfjordeid.no www.fjordex.no A nice port to take a hike in the local mountains, rent a bike or a car. The ships use around 1,5 hours on slow speed from the far coast into the port of Nordfjordeid, when docking at 1000 I guess there will not be anything interesting to see before 0800. 17th of May is constitution day in Norway, and Norway are famous for the 17th May celebration. You might wanna google that... The ship itself might have its own excursion not listed on www.fjordex.no

An hour and a half seems right... The quickest route by car is to drive on road 39/15 to Stryn, then take road 60 to Olden.

Not any big waterfalls nearby, but probably some small ones along the road if you walk on the South side of the fjord.. Small waterfalls are so common that Norwegians do not see them, only tourists... 😊 Not easy to recommend a 2hr hike...or to explain directions. Maybe along the South side of the fjord, or take a taxi up on top of the hills and walk back down.... I think you find a town map on www.portofnordfjordeid.no

I live "in the area" and see the ships go in/out the fjord. The museum has a good reputation and has a lot of visitors. www.sagastad.no. Well worth a visit. Right beside the museum you have a nice park with the City Beach. The area around the river not far from where the ship docks are also very nice... A lot of cafees and a nice mini bakery in the main street... Last year there was a hop on/off bus, but have not seen it this year.

Check out www.portofnordfjordeid.no The ship docks in town center, and the museum is only a few hundred meters from where you dock. If you rent a car, you can reach places like Stad peninsula, Selja Monestary, Hellesylt, Nordangsdal, Hornindal, but need some planning to be sure to be back in time... What are your other ports?
