So when do you flu officianados think the Corona virus is going to peak? We have a 30 day cruise from Los Angeles to Beijing booked in October with some stops in Japan and Korea before disembarking  and flying back to the US from Shanghai. With are final payment due in mid July, do you think it will have peaked by then?

Isn’t it too early to tell? And their is no vaccine yet.  Does anyone really know if the Corona virus will peak by October?

Why would you even take a chance?  It’s like playing Russian roulette.  If you get infected with Corona virus you could die.   I would not risk getting sick or dying for a cruise you can always take later.

Wishing you safe travels if you do decide to take that cruise.

As long as they use the new thermometers that just stroke along your temple...

I always thought the pencils they had for everybody to use when filling out the form were likely to be major transmitters of germs.

    Agree.

Especially those who cough in their hands and then use the pencil.  I do not want to be the next to use that pencil.

The funniest one I say was a meme about Coronavirus going well with Lyme disease. 😄

The Corona virus has me scared to cruise.
So, if you are elderly with a compromised immune system, would you take a chance of going on a cruise to Japan?  And if spread on board a ship with infected passengers what  are your chances of getting infected and sick or dying from Corona virus?’  How would you know if your fellow passenger next to you in the elevator, in the theater, or in the buffet line ,who coughs without covering,  just has a cold or has the Corona virus?

  4. Response to people cancelling cruise due to Corona virus?

Seems by all accounts in the news, there is a high risk of dying from being infected by Corona virus.   Especially if elderly and/or if ones immune system is already compromised.

How can anyone enjoy a cruise , if the person next to you in the elevator starts coughing, or someone sitting behind you in the theater starts coughing, or the person sitting near you in the MDR or buffet is coughing?   Maybe infected with Corona virus, maybe not?
Seems one is better off to cancel their cruise than take the risk of being infected with the Corona virus by your fellow passengers.   Better to be safe than sorry, and live  to cruise another day.  Maybe that’s why so many open cabins?

Want to tour around. Have been to this island many time from Florida. We are two seniors so will probably hire a private car when we get off. We do use walkers but just for balance. They collapse easily and small so would fit on catamaran if we could find one. Would love a catamaran that we find someone offering at port...want to just be on water for day. All suggestions will be appreciated. We are on January 31 sailing southern Caribbean  solstice..so two days from now....Do you know of any reliable private guides who stand at port? thanks.

We had one once named Joyce...maybe I will contact her. She was great and I sent many people to her but since its last stop we may be too tired.

Do they still sell latisse in those drugstores? and how much?

You want to buy latisse?  Eyelash growth serum?   Yes, you can get it.

After using ATD since it was instituted we went back to TD several years ago.  I you are in the aft MDR on deck 6, they will not seat ATD pax at your table on occasion.  They do take the drink in your hand on entry and take it to the table however you can decline the offer.  We usually remember our table and go right to it after the first night.  We love having the same waiters each night who quickly learn what we drink and eat.  It is amazing how after first meeting them they remember your name and face.

    New to Princess.
Re: TD.  What do you mean:  “they will not seat ATD pax at you’re table on occasion”?   I am confused.

    Thanks.

  8. Greetings,
    First time cruiser here.
How do you compare the cuisine B, L, D?

    Non-YC  versus Oceania.

I have read on other forums MSC cuisine is geared toward European  and the cuisine  not to American taste.  And not to American liking?

So, what is European taste in cuisine?  Examples?

    Thank you.

  9. Has RCCL reported higher number deaths on their cruise ships that had ports of call stops in China/Asia?   I have read it can be as many as 3-4 passengers die per long cruise?

I reckon if the virus found/finds its way on board a ship, many more will die because of close contact with those who have contracted the virus.

Here is what I can remember off the top of my head.

    CNBC

    MSNBC

    FOX News

In house movie channels that show (for free) some current movies (ie, Avengers Endgame which I will never watch again due to number of times I saw parts of it during a 14-day cruse).

    Action movies

    Comedy movies

    Drama movies

    Family movies

A channel that showed popular TV shows

Several ship specific related channels (daily activities, safety, port information, etc)

    Why no CNN?

  11. Hello,
    New to cruising.
Considering first cruise.  Possibly NCL as first cruise.

But the Corona virus has me worried since I have read many who cruise are elderly with compromised immune systems, and could spread the virus to others.

    From what I have read,

”Corona virus causes cold- and flu-like symptoms, including cough and fever, and in more severe cases, shortness of breath. It can worsen to pneumonia, which can be fatal.

Those killed by the virus have mostly been middle-aged or elderly people, sometimes suffering from other conditions that weaken their ability to fight back.”

I have read here some passengers frequently get something contagious nicknamed “cruiser cough”. .. a persistent cough that is cold, flu, Noro, or other  respiratory  illness

How does one prevent from getting sick on a ship, due to close contact with passengers who may have poor hygiene?  Or are sick.?

Does NCL have hand sanitizer stations around the restaurant, cafe, and buffet areas? Monitored by NCL staff, and hand washing mandatory before entering eating venues?   In public areas?  Is the buffet self-serve where  passengers help themselves to the food,  touching the serving utensils or touch food, or is the food  placed on the plate by food servers?
Will NCL screen passengers for the Corona virus during embarkation and debarkation?

I am health conscious,  and somewhat OCD.  I do not want to get sick, or die on my first cruise.

    Thanks.

  12. Helpful if you speak Portuguese.  Taxi and bus drivers usually do not speak much English or Spanish.  Visit the square where the church,  museum,  and impressive Jerónimos Monastery where Vasco De Gama is buried.  It is just a short walk from the cruise pier.  Lisbon is an easy city to explore on your own  by foot,  HOHO,  or public transportation.  Food is excellent if you like seafood.

    Consider the following  -

    1. - If Oceania cruises in the past have been good to very good to excellent, are some expecting too much?

    2. -  Has Oceania been neglected by Norwegian Inc?.  An example is new ships for Norwegian and Regent since the merger/acquisition.

    3. - Has there been some ship specific, or cruise specific, changes to the Marina, that are not reflected on the Oceania fleet?  Note the Viking board comments about the Viking Sky.

    4. - Are Lawyers and lawsuits decreasing fun on cruises in general ?  Will Oceania follow the Viking lead and not allow children under 18 to avoid lawsuits such as "open window" issues?   Are we as Oceania passengers at fault for similar  issues?   How many of us ignore the shore excursion warnings often related to age mobility and strength issues?  It has been my impression that more than half my fellow male Oceania passengers do not wash their hands or us the small tissue on the bathroom door handle when exiting.

    5.  If so many are unhappy, why do prices stay high and ships rooms often book up early?

I am new to cruising and yet to take my first cruise.   I have been considering Oceania as I have read less passenger count, the passengers are more elite, learned,  and sophisticated.  And also because I have read, food is served to you at buffet by food servers,  and not self-service by passengers who may have unclean hands handling serving utensils or touching the food.

But the comment:  “ It has been my impression that more than half my fellow male Oceania passengers do not wash their hands or us the small tissue on the bathroom door handle when exiting.”

Ewwwe.   That  kind of behavior worries me.   Does not the ship have hand sanitizer stations throughout the public areas and the food stations?

I am health concerned, and mildly OCD.  I do not want to catch some cold, flu or some kind of virus on a cruise because of others.

How do you stay healthy on the ship, knowing others have poor hygiene habits?  Suggestions?

    Thank you.

    No sky lounge

uncomfortable seating in stateroom and throughout  the ship

there’s more but this is what comes to mind when I think of The Blunders of Edge

New to cruising and considering maybe first cruise on Celebrity.
Wow.  That is a lot of complaints!

    It has me concerned.   😯

Seems like the peanut allergy crap has gotten out of hand, so Princess does not leave the PB cookies out, so ya need to ask for them. By the way, the cookies and the sugarfree ice cream are the two items not made on the ships. The cookies are all pre-made off the ship. I never knew of or heard of a peanut allergy as a kid or young adult.

New to cruising, and considering Princess.
So you believe peanut allergy is “crap “ ?   How has it got out of hand?  In general,  or on Princess?
