  1. Thanks for the responses. Al has had 3 back surgeries and still has 4 bad disks and they will not do another operation. He has good days and bad days so maybe we will plan to go and try to sit in the back of the boat unless he is having a bad morning that day. I appreciate the help.:)

  2. Depends on conditions that day, generally smaller bumps nothing to worry about. But with a bad back a cat would probably be smarter

We were wondering, guess we need to make a decision . We are doing a cat in Aruba..

    Thanks

  3. We are looking at booking a 21 day Caribbean cruise this spring. I have read on other sites that not all Caribbean ports are safe, any truth to this. We would love to get away for 21 days this winter. Thanks.

You know, safety is a concern now no matter where you go and as in the islands and here in the states if it does not feel right don't do it. I can tell you that we have been to many islands, sone of them 2 or 3 times and have never come across any problems to date. Research the islands well, know what you would like to see or do and read all the recommendations you can before you take off on the cruise. DOn't let safety concerns make your decision on your trip. Be sure to stay with a group and don't stray off into any back alleys and you should be just fine. It is true some are maybe not as safe as others but if you are in a group you should be fine.

21 days wow!!! our longest has been 10 so far. Have a great time....

  4. Have seen a couple of videos of the boat ride supplied by Sevis Tours when doing the Saona Island Carnival Special through Sevis Tours in La Romana. My dh has an really bad back and cannot handle a rough ride on the water in a boat. From the videos we looked at we are questioning if this is still a good choice of tours for us. Can someone who has done this please advise on the amount of bouncing over the water there is? Any assistance will be appreciated very soon as we are leaving in another week and a half for our cruise.

    Thank you very much.:)

    Hi Bajabooty :)

Congratulations being placed (manually) onto the FTTF manifest for when you arrive (at the) cruise terminal.

Your name (will) certainly be on the manifest for the (head porter) when checking luggage, and your name will also be on the manifest when you're (at the check-in counter) obtaining your sail & sign cards.

    Note:

For our Carnival Cruise Critic members inquiring about an email address:

Faster To The Fun email address:

    FTTFinfo@carnival.com

The above email was given to me from 'Shore Excursions' after I emailed them at:

    shoreexcursions@carnival.com

    PS:

They just don't add all FTTF email inquiries to the manifest. They simply assist when possible.

    Have a terrific day!

    :)

Yea, when I emailed I was given another address as well. My dh has a very bad back so we try to get FTTF for his benefit. We will be one day short of platinum and won't need to use FTTF any longer. Hope that they can help us out.

  6. Was in LaRomana 6/24/15 and we took the shuttle bus to Alto Chavon. Cost was $7 pp and no other costs. I was concerned that last time we went to Casa de Campo (place were Alto Chavon is located) there was a $25 fee to get on the property. The tour bus stopped at the security gate were the entrance fee is collected and the driver told security that they were from the cruise ship and they allowed us to pass through without the addtl charge.

Once you leave the ship you go up a small hill (walkway) and turn right out the exit and there is a small booth that has both the Alto Chavon tour and Trolley tour (which is $4 pp).

Did not take the trolley but Alto Chavon took us 30 min drive up, 1.5 hr to explore and 30 min back. You can probably do both tours on same visit.

Is there a map of where the Trolley tour goes?

  7. I always fly into FLL when cruising out of Miami and we always get in early so we rent a car. I have never had a 1-way charge. I got a car from Alamo for our cruise on the Breeze in September for $29.39, inclusive of all taxes and fees.

    Hotwire/Priceline is your friend.

We are on the Breeze in Sept also where are you see that rate for Alamo and which location are you dropping off at?

  8. Me as well, my cousin and I were looking at this yesterday and wondered about some details. Looks amazing.. Wondered if you are allowed to stay at the beach past the excursion time and if you can use all of the facilities if you do.

  9. We are sailing out of Tampa at the end of the month. Am looking for off site parking. I have read reviews but some are old and am looking for some more recent.

Also, did anyone notice if passengers were allowed to carry on 12 packs of soda or water through security.

    Thanks.....

The water/soda issue may depend on the Cruise LIne you are taking but on Carnival you are allowed a 12pack per person and 1 bottle of wine per person.

  10. DH and I are in our 60's and just started snorkeling a couple of years ago. We had only done this one time before in Grand Caymen and were hooked. We have snorkeled now at Trunk Bay St. Johns and Grand Turk. We di Power Snorkling at the wall in Grand Turk which was really fun and saw a lot of fish. The wall is a little freey the way it goes from seeing everything to seeing nothing but black...great exeriene and glad I got the corage up to do go there.

We heard from others on our cruise there that they snorkeled right off the beach and I believe there is a sunken boat out there that is suppose to hold a lot of fish. We are going back in Sept. ont he breeze and plan to stay in the port area to snorkel this time around. :D
