  1. No Cunard don’t offer this option.
  2. Yes bizarre it certainly was.
  3. Not sure how you were allowed to see a crew cabin on a Carnival U K ship ? And genuinely interested how you did. As crew areas are out of bounds to guests unless you were visiting a crew member on a pre booked day day pass and even then I am not sure you are allowed in the accommodation areas. The cabins too will vary depending on your role on board. My last cabin steward on QM2 was about to retire after 40 years service and he was telling me he was by far not the only one onboard with such long service. Another time my lovely waiter told me he shared a cabin with his wife who was a cabin steward. They had worked for Cunard fo 12 years. I assume if you stay in a job for 40 years it can’t be that awful. If you notice many crew members have fake gems on their White Star or Shine badges denoting 5 10 years service etc.. Many to be seen and I always make a point of asking how many contracts/ years have they done ? There are a few videos on you tube showing crew cabins. Some lines have single cabins but shattered a bathroom. I personally would not want to see their living areas as I see it as an invasion of their privacy. Crew areas are their homes for up to 9 months not an attraction or entertainment opportunity for me. I am sure most regular cruisers on here would not assume crew cabins would be in any way similar in size or amenities to passenger cabins, I don’t stay in hotels but would imagine hotel accommodation for staff is of a similar calibre.
  4. I was wondering when we were going to get the rust comments.
  5. Lots of folk do that. I opened a current account with them too just for the insurance.
  6. I use a U K CC, one with no transaction charges to be on the safe side.
  7. An M and S favourite of mine either from the cafe, in store bakery or pre packaged. Delicious with butter especially if warm.
  8. I have never had a Maritime Historian or Architect giving an Insights talk. The nearest was the lovely Maureen Ryan who I have heard twice on different sailings. What I will say is over the years I have been to a wide range of talks on a huge range of topics. Sadly some of the space ones have gone over my head but still vey enjoyable. The poorest was a lady giving a wellness talk about heathy eating and limiting or cutting out certain food stuffs and food groups. Read the room and your audience came to mind. It didn’t help her slides for the presentation had spelling and grammar mistakes. Call me old fashioned but that’s a big no from me.
  9. I always ask for butter instead of cream if having afternoon tea in Queen’s Room
  10. Lamb is widely available but not priced I would argue that an average family may find it that affordable. Where I buy my meat ( Marks and Spencer ) it’s on average twice the cost of beef and that is not cheap either.
  11. Well that will make for an interesting conversation with Security🚢😂
  12. Not sure either but remember it well from my working days.
  13. Growing up in U K in I can remember referring to a fizzy drink as pop. In fact a popular manufacturer no longer around, branded their drinks as Panda Pops.
  14. Wished I had worked somewhere the works canteen served Cunard standard meals.
  15. No I have never known it either so was confused when I checked . Also explains why it seems so expensive for an inside. If I do decide I will ring and query it. I always ring up as on the whole I am lucky with my dealings with the call centre.
  16. I do mean the standard 175% but there are currently sailings on Q A which are not applying this rule and quoting 200% for standard insides when you book online. If I do decide to book this particular cruise I will ring the Call Centre in case it’s one of their glitches because currently if you input 1 or 2 passengers it’s still the same price.
  17. Oh how lovely. That will be extra special with that Itinerary.
  18. My new grandson is eagerly awaiting his 6 month birthday so he can begin his Cunard adventures.
  19. Same with P&O. Iona and Arvia are XL class Iona has solo inside and balcony cabins Arvia a few years later does not.
  20. Interesting. My July cruise was booked over a year ago and definitely has the standard reduction. My love affair with her will be very short lived if I have to pay 2 x adults. Only reason I don’t sail on Princess is a refuse to pay X 2. Have only QV and QM booked so far for 2025 may be staying that way. Don’t remember seeing any flyers last year and was no stranger to voyage sales. Only travel Carnival brands and have zero interest in any others so can’t comment on other lines.
  21. No I mean no discount. No supplement available so being quoted x2 adults rates.
  22. I am of that opinion I don’t like the red dress I used to wear. I am just wearing black this time.
  23. This bizarre. I have priced up a QA in August I am tracking and again no single supplement. I never checked and just assumed the price was with solo discount but my July cruise which still has availability is quoting a single occupancy rate. Seems some extra dynamic pricing going on.
  24. You can’t book a set time or table on Freedom Dining. There is usually a queue of people wanting to change their fixed allocations so not sure it would be a good use of your time. You would need to keep your dining choice for the whole cruise eg Fixed or Freedom.
