  1. Im not a wine drinker, but an analogy comes to mind. Its like saying, the cost of this wine is low, I will buy it, doesnt matter that I have not tasted anything else. The cost is all that matters. Anyone else with an apt analogy?
  2. If you sail a line based on cost alone, you have no idea of what is value. And if you are comparing cost only, then you missed including all the things that are included on O. But of course if you have not sailed on O, you have no idea what those things are. You may be able to compare cost of a similar cabin to a similar cabin, but to disregard all else, does not give a true picture. I would not sail on C for free. We just came off the Viking Star, used up covid credits, so it was free but that is another line I would not sail for free. So comparing costs of just cabins and ignoring all else is a waste of time. Sail the line, take the cheapest cabin. Come back here and tell us how it compared.
  3. After 50 cruises with C, we could no longer tolerate the bad food, the kids and the class divisions. To get better food , we would have to book a suite and still put up with so much we no longer like about C. We now travel only on O, with a 6th cruise coming up. Whether in a balcony or an inside, we dine in the same venues as those in the penthouse and enjoy the classy atmosphere sans kids and sans crass. Take a look at their loyalty program and take that into account when price comparing. We will soon enjoy included gratuities and other obcs. Take that off the price, as well as a free cruise after 19. Being elite plus on C gets us things that are normally included on O. Bottom line, it's the ambience that brings us back to O and keeps us away from lines like C. If you have never tried O, you have no business making ANY comparisons, cost or anything else because you don't have a clue what you are talking about.
  4. And someone else chose to spend their time critiquing the choice to spend time querying Oceania. Each to their own.
  5. You do know that you don't have to read posts that don't interest you or annoy you, nor respond to them.
  6. ok...well now you can also see it in writing whereas before people were going on word of mouth... someone even asked if it may apply to 2024.... it applies to all going forward.... my first contact was the air department and they could not tell me where I could find this policy...thats not very reassuring....lol.... anyway now it is done...case closed.... but would still like to hear how others are doing with their O flights....
  7. So the poster that said they paid deviation, maybe they were at the 90 or later point. Be aware of that date.
  8. Ok rep #6 gave me the answer.... on page 4 of your invoice in fine print... as long as it is outside of the 90 days and you accept the flight given, O will NOT charge a deviation fee....it is there in writing....the important fact being the "outside of the 90 days and no more than 3 days earlier or later".
  9. still on hold for rep # 6.... outrageous... yes I know you will all tell me that my TA should be the one to find it... no way would I expect my TA to spend this kind of time on this... ok...will let you know ...
  10. I have been on the phone with O for almost an hour, being passed from one rep to another, all agree that there is no deviation fee going in a day or two earlier as long as you let them know 90 days before and accept the flights given...BUT no one can show me where this new policy is in writing...I am now on the 3 rep.... stay tuned...
  11. Will call O this afternoon. I have said this before, in Canada it would easily cost us double for prem air, we got it from O for 149 pp to BCN.
  12. Good to know, although I got an eye infection from the Thera pool on Viking star in April.
  13. Have to get a definite answer about the deviation, yes there is a charge for going in early or not. Our cruise in question is Nov 2023, Bcn to Mia, from yyz.
  14. So prem econ IS poss with AC? I guess what I should do is 90 days out see what O gives us then decide if we can live with it. We don't have included deviation, not till we reach that level, and don't want to pay for it. No other line charges this exorbitant fee. We ARE going in two days earlier, so that does give us some comfort.
  15. I don't understand what you mean when you say "I don't believe you get that for nothing". No one is expecting to get anything for nothing. The AC option may not be doable, but BA though LHR with a 3 hour layover is also a good option for us. Someone suggested that as well.
  16. Looking forward to hearing about the food. We will be on Jan 9.
  17. Can you not suggest a suitable flight? I will be in touch with O in the next couple of days to test the waters and see if it all has to go through the TA or maybe they can give me some information directly. The flight is not till November, so there is plenty of time.
  18. Back to flights with O. Anyone use the new policy of going in a day or two earlier with no deviation fee?
  19. What I chose is to not pay unnecessarily. As far as bemoaning my created situation, I prefer to say, I like to discuss my created situation. If you were to use "bemoan", you would be insulting an awful lot of people here who would then stop "discussing" all sort of matters here. I'm sure that is not your intention, as that is what keeps CC alive and kicking. Although I'm sure just with that slight, it will turn some people off. Perhaps if you find an annoyance with someone's "discussion" of various issues, you could refrain from responding. But that is hard to do for some, even me. Lol
  20. yes BA is an option...not the others for BCN... we want AC stop over in YUL, but who knows if O will give it to us, that would be ideal to BCN....
