  1. We have also evolved from over 50 cruises with celeb, 2 azamara, 4 royal, 3 Viking...to only Oceania.. big regret giving celeb all that loyalty with nothing to show for it. Oceania has the best loyalty program. Can't wait to reach 10 and have included gratuities and 20 with a free cruise. Looking forward to our 6th, 7th and 8th in the fall.
  2. yes that was definitely me...you are right... I still think O is too gourmet for my liking...too much shellfish, too many international dishes...too many seasonings I dont like...and someone did say , just stick to mcds... but unlike Viking, I always find something on O that pleases me...that was not the case with V...the good news, is weight loss...they do have an amazing wrap around walking deck, so not eating, walking the big track was good for the weight.... weight is not a big deal tho....once I come home it all comes off...no prob.... the desserts alone on O, did me in on part of a cruise in November, then the pastry chef changed and I didnt touch them again... the Ice cream on V, is made with ice water...NO cream...vile stuff....powdered orange juice..you can get the real stuff but from bar only.... guess it is good once in a while to try a line that you know it not to your liking, to appreciate what you have with others...
  3. Since getting off a Viking ship, I have become very protective of O. Every day of the 13 days on the Viking Star, we said, we wished we were on an O ship. Others that had not done O, found Viking just fine, although many did say the food was not up to standards. Very hard not to compare when we are now cruising every few months and have fresh memories of each experience.
  4. To start with.. Food was worse than on Celeb in a regular balcony. We no longer sail celebrity because of that. Very boring lectures. Wonderful weather and calm sea, but had to fight to get them to open roof over the pool. Otherwise could not be in the mid area of ship, stifling and very hot, horrible entertainment. No entertainment off the ship just the in house singers and dancers. Nothing to do all day. Only one plus..NO kids.
  5. Yes they did not pick O apart. Can't even think of what else you can criticize. I sure have changed my tune after the Viking experience. Not even complaining about so much seafood or gourmet soups...lol
  6. I am trying to see what is it about this review that is a pleasure. As hard as I try, I can't see it. Maybe it is a pleasure to those who prefer to sail with NCL instead of O. Younger demographic, faster delivery of drinks.
  7. we met people on Viking who said the food was good...but they had not sailed O...without doing that, there is NO point talking to them about food. we are escapees from Celebrity, did 50 cruises with them, elite plus....until we could "stomach" it no more... so having this variety of recent cruise lines , I know where from I speak.....besides I am a picky eater...my only complaint is the food on O is too fancy....just give me some usual soups, like a yellow pea soup, a cold potato soup, a normal minestrone without curry in it...I dont eat shellfish...so you can see I have my issues, but despite that, best food compared to what else is served on other lines.
  8. Nope azamara is no way better on any respects. Have done 2 azamara. Our 3, o cruises in the past 12 months had much better food than the Viking ship we were on 3 weeks ago. Much better is an understatement. If food is number one for you, you can't do better than O. If food doesn't matter to you, if kids on board don't matter to you, then maybe there is no reason to sail O.
  9. You had already paid in full. Very good on O to do that. Anyone not yet paid in full, that got some obcs instead of a discount as per sale?
  10. Yes, I uderstand that. Phdiva are you on this TA or part of it?
  11. Wow, that's awful. Yes a good ta is hard to find. I will be asking around on the next cruise. Really too bad we can't name names here. Not sure if on that other site they are allowed to do it either. We are allowed to name tour providers. Not sure why that is allowed, that's also advertising.
  12. Yes I did the math as well. When we booked, we got good rate on air and only 149 for prem econ. That would vanish. Paying for our own air would be far more than what we save on the sale. Had it not been for that, we would have gone ahead and benefitted from the sale.
  13. Yes I am asking the same thing for a 20 day TA , Nov 13. It's two legs, only one is on sale. Seems there is no way to benefit from the sale price without losing other benefits like air and prep econ. Seems like a draw.
  14. I use only one rep at O. always email him and tell him what I need. He has told me numerous times that he reads emails even when on the phone. Hopefully O is this busy because of all the sales they are doing.
  15. We returned from Viking, April 3. Awful food, very boring lectures, roof over main pool closed almost the entire crossing and it was calm and warm outside. Will never sail Viking again. But if it the drinks that are important, then sure most lines will do.
  16. nope...want the 20 days and have a prem econ for 149 for one way....air with O, much less than I could find myself... also have prep grat for the first 7 days, ,would lose all of it if rebooked...booking my own air would eat up the discount from the sale... I dont know who, but someone said that their agent was not able to get them the lower price without losing what they had..so ultimately the sale was not a sale for them...but ...and yes here comes the but and must be a very rare case, wish I knew who said it... as GOOD WILL , O gave them some OBCs.... and O sure didnt have to do that....
  17. yes asked on roll call... no one that I know of has a GV.... because this is 20 days and can be booked as 13 or 7 or 20 , it is much more complex when only one leg, the 13 days is on sale....
  18. I have not heard back from anyone that is doing the 20 days and booked before the sale, that they were able to have their TA persuade O to make adjustments in their favour.
  19. Yes we have a friend doing the 20 days, solo , he is also paying double.
  20. Our experience on the Riviera in Jan was the same. Too bad R is gone to the east. We are in Alaska and West coast in the fall and then the Marina in Nov. As long as the food is as good as it has been, I will be happy.
  21. I hope people are taking full advantage of this sale. Have not seen anything like this before. But I have only been watching O in the last two years.
  22. If the agent could just have O, reduce the total price, but that is not how it works. When we booked in Oct of 2021, we got air pp for 600 plus prem econ for 149pp, now prem econ is 649...and flight who knows... I'm sure this would be lost with the repricing.. Would be great if our Ta could get O to give us a few more obcs to help with gratuities, but we don't have that kind of TA.
  23. We are on this but Nov 13, from bcn to Mia. Only the LIS to Mia is on sale. Is anyone else on the 20 days and could take advantage of the sale? Our TA, said we have the better deal and that's that.
  24. The only type of entertainment we enjoy is a good comedian. We don't sail on O for entertainment and don't miss any of it. Our only rush through later dinners is to make the 8:30 trivia.
  25. The agents I know all have someone else look after their stuff if they are not able to. Is this agent a sole practitioner?
