Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. For Grand Cayman, local tenders must be used, so the Magic Carpet is not used. But the "Destination Gateway" area is very well organized and efficient.
  2. The "new" Moll d'Adossat terminal has been in use for years by most large cruise ships. While it is not an easy walk, there are shuttle busses available. I'm not sure where the "30 minute walk" is measured from - Pl Catalunia maybe ?? If you use Google Maps, you can easily see both terminals.
  3. Grand Cayman is a tender port and Celebrity must use local tender boats. You might be better off booking the Celebrity excursion.
  4. It may be very useful if you have a later flight. FLL is now warning that airlines may impose a 2 hr advance limit on checking baggage. We recently used it for a 5:25 PM flight.
  5. I recently used the service from a Sky Suite on Ascent, and the $29 fee was NOT waived.
  6. But be aware that these tenders are not always used. In Grand Cayman, for example, local tenders MUST be used.
  7. Yes. The $29 was just charged to our account.
  8. When in Rome we have always used an outfit called RomeinLimo. They have excellent service, and they do services outside of the Rome area.
  9. Yes. We used it on our 1/28 disembarkation. Cost is $29 pp, but since we had only 2 bags,we only were charged for one person. It was a godsend to us, since we had a late afternoon flight and FLL is now warning about a 2 hr pre-flight limit on checking baggage.
  10. An aside-on Ascent the Retreat Barperson was superb !!
  11. Just an aside here - On Ascent, our Sky Suite (one and only time) balcony door had the usual handle lock and an additional deadbolt lock.
  12. We also disembarked yesterday, into Terminal 25, and of course had the same experience. No customs (I believe this has been gone for a few years), no Immigration check, no Passports. You simply pause at a facial recognition station, and that's it. I'm curious as to whether other terminals have this system in place, or is it only at T25 ?? And is it same for a Transatlantic arrival ??
  13. We used this service just yesterday, from the Celebrity Ascent. We were in the same situation as you; late afternoon flight on Southwest. Celebrity charged $29 pp, but since we had only two bags, we were only charged for one person. Everything worked fine. By the way, FLL (the Airport) is warning that airlines may only accept checked baggage two hours before flight time. Don't know if SW is enforcing this, but Terminal 1 is notoriously short on pre-clearance seating.
  14. Wasn't it Winston Churchill who, after being corrected by an underling for this, said (or wrote): "This is the sort of nonsense up with which I shall not put !! .?
  15. My personal pet peeve is the common misuse of the word less to refer to things which are counted or numbered, when fewer should be used. "His weight is less, because he is carrying fewer pounds, or "The ship carries fewer passengers." But again, I probably have too much time on my hands
