  1. I think its a shame that people do wear Jeans and a T Shirt, a sign of the times and its Lazy I think, its a bit more effort to be smart, The DR is smart and its a night out and so should be smart trousers and a shirt, maybe others would do the same if more showed some effort.

  2. We're due to leave very soon, although very excited there are just a few queries I have about the dress code!

What is the suggested dress code for men and women in the main dining room in the evening? Are jeans acceptable?

For gents is a shirt to be worn every night or is a t shirt suitable?

    Thank you in advance!

We too leave soon, Dress code is a couple of formal nights and the rest smart casual.

To be honest I would not be happy for anyone to wear Jeans and a T shirt too dinner on any night, that should be OK at home, but not on a ship or out for a nice meal and also No mobile/cell phones at dinner

I would say a smart shirt and trousers and that is what most will wear

  3. We will be sailing for the first time on MSC this spring, we are use to other cruise lines where you can go to a speciality restaurant to avoid dressing up in formal nights, mis it the same in YC or other venues ?

From what I have seen, very few dress up anywhere on the ship, on our last trip we took trousers and smart shirts and fitted in well, if anything, better than most

  4. You are right there no where near celebrity's. However the dressing gown will be good for me ha!

No , our highest is Cunard and that is amazing, you get parties rather than a few drinks in the evening, free lunch is best resturant , free internet and other stuff, we are on the way up on RCL but they are not what they were, so we are now trying Celebrity and a few others.

MSC is fine, cheap, the cabins are great , goes where we want at the moment as we are bucket listing now, the announcements etc can drive you insane , but we get through that and the muster  and get by.

  5. Do you get your black card on the ship I've never had a card up to now! I am gold at present however never been given any type of card from them

Yes, you will get it sent to your cabin on your next cruise, I am told that people without a card or havent applied for one can do on the ship :)

To be honest I dont think you get that much, a taster meal , if you want it and a bottle of prosseco ? and a chocolate bar , not much there I would want , maybe a few discounts on purchases .

  6. I hope it is dark chocolate!!!

Can anyone explain the tasting menu that black card holders also get? What options on Divina? On one rewards breakdown it says complimentary specialty dinner for two, and on the other it says " members are entitled to enjoy a tasting menu dinner for 2 during the cruise, Eataly Restaurant Italia excluded!"

Dark would be good, always helps me sleep:) but it would last a while I think

  7. Maybe MSC will give loyal members a new card, I hope so, what is not needed are people from from other lines bragging about it, the card is not what it used to be anyway.

Meanwhile , they are great ships and great fun and great deals (Still ) :)

  8. This big

    Pete

Wow, thats not bad :), I see you have sailed MSC Fron South Africa, thats and Japan is next on our list.

We changed over from Cunard for that reason, they just dont sail where we want to go now and RCL is getting too far loyaltiy segrregated , if that makes sense, goodness what some people will do for free glass of wine is amazing.

we like the MSC way .

Now I hope im getting one the chocolate ships next week:)

  9. Don't forget they downgraded the benefits as a first cynical move; gone was the 20% discount; gone was The special meal with officers; they replaced the champagne with prosecco and only 1 bottle per cabin not 1 per guest.

But you do now get a chocolate ship.

    Pete

PS perhaps other lines might reciprocate. oops was that a flying pig i just saw :p:):)

Iwonder how big the chocolate ship is lol ,

  10. RCL are the worse, they want it all, want it now and want more beside, I was given Black from my Cunard status as Diamond, but feel its a shame for all the work MSC passengers have put in over the years.

  11. Most likely nothing. Like all the other schemes announced over the last few years.

When they tow her away from Dubai I will believe it, well partly. They'll have to be careful with the matches though.

    David.

I had heard it was going to happen, as I understand it she is bad shape inside, just wondered what news there was

    and

Thank you not posting  as can happen:)

  12. I suppose actually seeking advise from a qualified immigration lawyer rather than than uninformed though well intentioned opinions of anonymous internet forum users is out of the question?

I agree with you here, you can phone someone who really knows or you can phone the US Embassy, I am sure they know.

It is clear as day , if you have any arrest then you need a visa and the embassy is the place to go.

I cant believe so many dont know what is asked of them on the ESTA application, or Do they

  13. Unless your already a diamond member now after your last cruise, if so then you will get a voucher for the meal either in Todd english or verandah for Lunch or dinner in a lesser resturant, you get 8 hours of internet time and free wine tasting and 3 cocktail parties and couple of other small extras.

these dont always appear in your cabin on the 1st day

  14. You may well be.

There is a lot of misunderstanding about how the credit card system operates. Of course there is a dispute here. The system has a remedy and posters have highlighted what that is.

But a guy in a dark room at Carnival Corp. pushing a button a couple of times to rip off a customer? Really?

    David.

Well said, can you image the outcome of such a thing:):

There are many ways and I think could have dealt with this better and pushed it forward and then the refund would showed very fast.

However people show concern at the refund, the real point is that Cunard charged the amount 3 times, what if that had somehow gone un noticed
