  1. I have read "don't leave home without it" with duct tape on that list, and duct tape never got packed (and thankfully, never needed!.) I don't leave home without those clips to secure my towel to a lounge chair, though! 😉
  2. Indeed! When you are able to take part in the activities provided (or not) with pleasure, you are sailing with a cruise director who genuinely desires to make a difference in how passengers experience their cruise. On my last X cruise, the CD provided a summary of what is happening on the in room TV channel which was above and beyond.
  3. My brother and sister-in-law cruised with Viking recently, and I am glad to hear about the quiet spots aboard. I am AQ on my next cruise, so will hopefully be able to use the balcony if the weather cooperates. Last cruise, not so much as there was lots of rain and water on the balcony rendering a cuppa or relaxation impossible!
  4. I couldn't agree more as a musician as well about having background music and focus. I am prone to miss bits and pieces of conversation if there is distraction of music. In some cases, that applies to someone nearby who may have no muting of loud music on a device. In other cases, the decibel level of music currently seems to be designed to promote hearing loss. There are some quiet spots on the Summit I have scoped out in the past.
  5. Last cruise on Summit (2022) my early morning nonstop flight was delayed to MIA/canceled and arrival at MIA was not until late evening. Checked bag. So glad my flight was a day early. Nothing in carry on so hotel provided amenities and bought at the hotel store XL T-shirt for nightshirt and same clothes next morning. Luggage arrived at hotel about 2 hours before departure time, so I was able to board ship with my luggage. Booked for cruise in April 2023. I have learnt my lesson well. I am traveling solo, so will only be taking a carry on - no checked baggage this time, no way no how. I am going to watch my bag like a hawk and if I could hug it in overhead bin all the way to MIA I would do so just for peace of mind. I am hoping I do not have to "gate check" my carry on, because I would lose sight of it.
  6. Yes, indeed! Kept the balcony door closed. So glad to hear you had no issues. I didn't think it was an issue to register a comment. I am planning a cruise to Cozumel in April, and this time will be sure to make a request to have the thermostat looked at (with a smile, graciously, and appropriately) if it does not work. Thanks for your input, and Happy Cruising! If you feel comfortable sharing, when are you next cruising!!
  7. Last cruise, the thermostat in Aqua Class cabin didn't seem to function. Anyone else find the same? Perhaps the thermostats are there just to make you feel like you can alter the coolness or warmth to your liking!
