  1. Has anyone received the points from last month? Who will be the first to report?
  2. Actually, the solid walls were an irritation on the Rotterdam in February. Or more specifically it was the power outlets. We heard a lot conversations from the neighboring cabins just sitting in our cabin. At times it seemed like there was a hole cut in the cabin wall.
  3. Because many people on this Celebrity board won't be there. 😉 No, just kidding. Longer more varied itineraries. I really like their ne Pinnacle class ships, I can purchase a pass for a room upgrade that provides access to the suite dining area. The buffet is nicer and they serve the food. Better pizza and hamburger venues. One negative is that they allow smoking in the Casino and next to the aft outdoor pool. Prices are competitive. The Music walk area is much more lively in the evening than anything I have found on Celebrity. You can walk the promenade deck around the entire ship.
  4. One potential issue is how did you book your current reservation. Unless you specifically request it, you new reservation will be linked and sent to the TA that made your current reservation. If it gets sent to a different TA than the BBTA, they will have to release the reservation before it can be sent to another TA or the BBTA. You need to be very clear to the person making the onboard reservation. I also never fill out any forms to transfer the reservation, I just call the TA with the new reservation number and they can usually complete the transfer while I am on the phone. As far as special or group rates are concerned, you need to talk with the BBTA after you get home and have them check to see if there are any special rates for the cabin category that you booked. if there is then they can move you to that rate. In the past I have often found reduced rates on the refundable booking that I book with the BBTA. So perhaps you want to book a refundable rate onboard and then investigate the rates when you get home and switch to the best rate for you when you get home. As enticing as the BBTA gift cards appear, they may not always reflect the best deal for you. Sometimes the larger TA's have group rates for your particular cruise combined with other OBC incentives from those TAs is cheaper than the final price from the BBTA. The best approach is to shop around before your cruise, check prices before you leave looking for any group rates. Then you can book the cruise on-board and don't attach the reservation to any TA. When you get home you can make the call to transfer the reservation to the best TA. Purchasing a cruise isn't any different than purchasing anything else, you need to shop around if you want the best deal.
  5. I wonder when the was the last time Celebrity offered this 14 day cruise.
  6. The last time I remember throwing ribbons into the ocean at departure was on the SS Constitution in Hawaii in the early 1990s
  7. We can only hope that Celebrity follows the wise advice offered on CC. 😉
  8. Perhaps you should do some research and see the differences between lines owned by a company.
  9. Sorry Bo, we'll have to respectively disagree on this one. The IV balconies do not come close to satisfying the needs of cruisers that spend a lot of time on the balconies. I think you're mistaken that the small subset of people on CC somehow don't represent the overall cruising population. Some like the IVs some don't. It would have been nice if they introduced some IV balconies but retained most of the conventional balconies. But LLP chose to swing for the fences and fouled out.
  10. This is what LLP should have been building instead of silly E-class ships. A hit for the non-suite guests, not so much for the suite guests. No discussion of a ship within a ship concept. The smoking area by the aft pool is a negative. https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/news/here-s-why-guys-will-love-sailing-on-holland-america-line-s-rotterdam/ar-AA19Dgif?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=b83613daba4943fc95a5b7eec2a866bb&ei=65
  11. No, they don't have conventional balconies. Please don't take it personally that many of us don't like the IV balconies that don't meet our needs. It's great that you enjoy other features of the ship. The point is the CEO should be held responsible for eliminating the most common type of cabin on the ship and replacing them with a cabin concept that doesn't meet the needs of many cruisers. We will now go to other cruise lines for many of our future cruises. LLP owns that decision and it was an ill-conceived move.
  12. Nope sorry they don't but you know that. I don't count the couple of port hole balcony cabins or the Sunset veranda balcony cabins. Some of don't like to be at the rear of the ship because of the increased possibility of vibrations or the extra distance to walk anywhere. I'm talking about most of the cabins along the side of most any newer cruise ship. I'm sure you can find one, they are the most common type of cabin on most newer ships.
  13. Wow. I think my bucket list is progressing quite well, thank you very much. I was on an expedition ship in Antarctica in December, a B2B2B for 31 days in the Caribbean in February/March, July will be Norway and Iceland and October will be a repositioning cruise on the Edge from Rome to Singapore, so I'm not sure your cop-out comment applies. The first 3 cruises were on other cruise lines and I enjoyed each of them much more than my last cruise on the Equinox. It takes an itinerary as special as the Edge repositioning cruise to get me on an E-class ship. I frankly don't see the need to accept anything less than the best itinerary that I can find on a ship that appeals to me. Unfortunately, Celebrity seldom offers itineraries that interest me on S and M class ships.
  14. Just sail on a different ship sounds reasonable, however the most attractive itineraries are often assigned to the newest ships and sailing on other ships really isn't an option.
  15. I'm glad they were able to better utilize the open deck space on the E-class ships because the Retreat area took so much space away from the non-suite guests. As far as those bifold doors are concerned, does anyone really close the bifold doors? What's the advantage given that the AC or heat shuts off and makes the remainder of the cabin uncomfortable. A better solution would have been to eliminate the bi-fold doors to better utilize the indoor space and they would need the miniature furniture.
  16. Celebrity probably has a lot of IV guarantee cabins and they are waiting to assign the cabins. 😉
  17. Absolutely not. There was no good reason to completely eliminate conventional balconies. Someone convinced Celebrity management that IV's were the best thing since sliced bread, but there not.
