  1. 9 days to go! Have some last-minute errands. Getting the car inspected on Saturday. Pets going in for boarding. Hoping to get medication refills early. Depends on the insurance. I am hoping that the Internet on the ship is good as I am hoping to post daily with pictures. Here is the thing about my live. I am not going in looking for problems. I am sailing on a mass market cruise line, and I am not expecting perfection because nothing is ever perfect. My goal is to have a relaxing and enjoyable time. Yes, I will point out any issues and provide realistic ways to work around them. I did my research. I know what the ship looks like and its limitations (smaller ship overall, smaller buffet). I know for sure that I will not starve on this cruise, and I will get lots of exercise. One of the best things I like about the Sky and the Jewel class ships is that wrap around promenade. Every cruise I have walked laps after eating. Helps control the blood sugars which is important as a diabetic. So, get ready. Starting 10/7/2024 I will be documenting the trip. We fly to Quebec that day and the adventure finally begins!
  2. Happy Monday. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet reports. My final week of work. I have a chiropractor appointment and a meeting this evening. Most of the day will be spent grading the past weeks assignments and discussions. I do have some last-minute stuff to do like getting my car inspected as I won't have time later in October. Once I come back from the cruise, I then drive to Harrisburg for a conference that I am presenting at. Busy October. This time next week I will be flying to Quebec. Bon Voyage @JazzyV! Thinking of all on the care list. Celebrating with all who are celebrating. Have a safe and healthy day.
  3. When my sister and I were on the Pearl in 2022, we would have breakfast in the Great Outdoors. and spent a lot of time in Spinnakers for trivia and music. These are the two best places on ships that have them.
  4. Happy Sunday. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet reports. Relaxing a bit today. My sister is not feeling well because she got her flu and COVID shots yesterday. We will do church online today. I have done my preliminary packing. This will change this coming weekend, I am sure. I will review the weather reports multiple times and probably repack. I never thought that it would be this much harder to pack for a 10+ day trip than a 7-day trip. My sister reminded me that if we forget anything we will still be in civilization and should be able to buy it. Plus, there is laundry and if need be, I can wash something in the sink, 8 days until I fly to Quebec, 10 days until cruise day. I will have a live over on the NCL boards if anyone wants to follow along on our adventures. Thinking of all on the care list. Celebrating with all who are celebrating.
  5. 8 days until I fly into Quebec. 10 days until I board the ship. I anticipate that this is one slow week. I have to see if I can get my medication filled early as I will be away when I usually fill it. We shall see what insurance has to say about it. Wish me luck.
  6. First round of packing complete! Now I will probably sit and consider what I have packed and will probably repack. I believe though that I have everything that I need. I have to stop overthinking what I need to bring.
  7. Happy Saturday. Thank you for the Daily and Fleet reports. Today is packing day for me after running several chores including dropping my sister's car off for an oil change. Then it is shopping for some last-minute stuff. How exciting. 11 more days until we cruise, 9 more days until we fly to Quebec. Bon voyage to @Haljo1935 and @TAW1963! Thinking of all on the care list. Celebrating with all who are celebrating. Have a safe and healthy day.
  8. Following along as I will be on the Eurodam next May for Alaska.
  9. Happy Friday. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet reports. Praying for all who are impacted by Helene. Stay safe. Expecting rain for the next several days here in PA. Scheduled for a much-needed massage today. I would love to schedule one on the ship, but I have no energy for the constant up-selling by the spa staff. I will just schedule one for when I come back. I have to relax from all that relaxing. The suitcases are coming up from the basement this weekend and the packing will begin. Only 12 days to go. Happy anniversary to @Cruising-along! Thinking of all on the care list. Celebrating with all who are celebrating. Have a safe and healthy day.
  10. 13 days out. I will start packing this weekend. Wrapping up some last-minute things in regard to work. I will have to do some work but making sure it is the bare minimum of stuff. Getting coverage for some of my classes. Everything else is set. Our port arrival time is for 11:00 am. Boarding documents say the ship boarding starts at 12. We shall see how strict that is. The ship will have overnighted so hopefully we can get on board before 12. I remember when I sailed on the Pearl out of Boston two years ago, we had to wait for a bit before boarding. No worries. My first drink on board will be an Aperol Spritz. That is my favorite. Not sure where we will go for lunch. I have always enjoyed the Great Outdoors so perhaps there. Doing my happy dance right now.
  11. Happy Thursday. Thanks for the daily and fleet reports. Its dark in the morning when I get up. I feel so sluggish now. Plus, it might rain this morning. Not the best of days. Working on my classes today and seeing clients so it will be rather busy. I plan to start packing for my cruise this weekend. Thinking of all on the care list. Celebrating with all who are celebrating. Have a safe and healthy day.
  12. Happy Wednesday. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet reports. Finally got caught up with my grading. Now on to the next batch. A rather lite day today with on client to be seen. Rain is expected today. My allergies have been acting up over the past few days which is to be expected for me in the fall. Oh well. In exactly two weeks, I will be boarding the NCL Sky for 10 days of relaxation and adventure. I will begin packing this weekend. Thinking of all on the care list. Celebrating with all who are celebrating. Have a safe and healthy week.
  13. Thank @Sharon in AZ for all of the helpful information. I am making lists of the things we want to do in each port. So much to do and so little time! I guess that means we might have to book another cruise.
  14. Happy Tuesday. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet reports. Cloudy day to day. It is hard to get up in the morning as the sun doesn't rise until later. I am behind in my grading due to a university wide outage of the system. Nothing was loading so I did not have access to anything. Called tech support and they are working on it. Oh well. I will finish up today. I have a couple of meetings scheduled and a client later this afternoon. That cruise is looking pretty good right now. Thinking of all on the care list. Celebrating with all who are celebrating. Have a safe and healthy day.
  15. Hi there. I saw on the port website that we are at Qual 22 which is closer to my hotel. The hotel offers to take the luggage to the port for us. Thank you for the restaurant suggestion. I want to try as many restaurants as possible during our trip.
  16. In 14 days, I will be on a plane flying to Quebec. Now that my nephew's wedding is over, I am now focused on the cruise. I will begin packing this week. I have been thinking about outfits that I want to wear and monitoring the wedding. Things I must bring: rain jacket, good walking shoes, my Snuggie (love to wrap myself up as I sit on the balcony in the evening), jeans and T-shirts for ports, a dress just for dressing up a bit for Le Bistro, shorts (we had very warm weather the last time I went to Canada), and some layering items in case the ship is cooler than I like. I just want to keep it simple and not over pack like I have done previously. I am sure I will pack and repack up to the day we leave.
  17. Ben and David are YouTube bloggers from overseas. They are one of many vloggers who share their cruises which is the great thing about social media. They can do that if they want to. Some people like them others do not. I have followed them since the pandemic when I booked my very first cruise on NCL. I watch a lot of vloggers for information about ships and ports. They are one of many I follow. I think that its hysterical that not liking one cruise ship automatically means that one does not like the whole cruise line.
  18. Happy Monday. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet reports. In two weeks, I will be boarding a plane to Quebec. Let the packing begin. I am somewhat behind in grading assignments as the University's system was down. Hopefully it will be back up today. I had a wonderful visit with by brother and sister-in-law as we watched the Eagles pull off a miraculous win. I need more time like this with my family. Thinking of all on the care list. Celebrating with all who are celebrating. Have a safe and healthy day.
  19. He is visiting with me now and the Steelers game is not on here. He is watching the Eagles with us and he is a diehard Eagles fan.
  20. Happy Sunday. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet reports. What a beautiful wedding that my nephew and his bride shared. It was small and comfortable. Very laid back. It was an outdoor wedding at a little bed and breakfast called Wild Wisteria. The weather was perfect. The bride was beautiful. I lost it a couple of times. They set up a memorial table and front and center was a picture of my oldest sister, Josh's mom, in her wedding dress. I then teared up again when my nephew started crying the minute he saw Amanda Walk down the aisle. He held it together as he shared his vows. These two were so made for each other and their love is evident. We met her family for the first time, and they are such wonderful people. We are so honored to be a part of their family. I have to download pictures and hope to post a few. The day was full of us reuniting with family and just having a blast. It was great such a great day. Today my brother and sister-in-law are stopping by (they live in Pittsburgh) and we will be watching the Eagles game. I realize how much I need to slow down because I just miss being with family. I also realize how much I really need my cruise. 17 days! Thinking of all on the care list. Celebrating with all who are celebrating. Have a safe and healthy day.
  21. Happy Saturday. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet reports. Today is the day! My nephew Josh and his fiancé Amanda are getting married today. My plan is to be enjoying the festivities. Happy anniversary to @Haljo1935. Thinking of all on the care list. Celebrating with all who are celebrating. Have a safe and healthy day.
  22. Happy Friday. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet reports. Warm and sunny today. Tomorrow is my nephew's wedding. It will be so nice to be with family. I expect lots of tears as we honor his mother, my sister who passed away four years ago. Should be good weather. Today I have a dentist appointment and finishing up all my class work. Thinking of all on the care list. Celebrating with all who are celebrating. Have a safe and healthy day.
  23. Happy Thursday. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet reports. Sunny and warm today. Checked in for my cruise and printed all boarding documents and luggage tags. 20 days to go. I will probably begin the packing process after by nephew's wedding on Saturday. This is the hard part for me. I tend to overpack and I will be away for almost 2 weeks. The cruise is 10 days, and we will be in a few days before and after the cruise. Keeping an eye on the weather as well. This should be an interesting challenge. Happy Anniversary to @mamaofami! Thinking of all on the care list. Celebrating with all who are celebrating. Have a safe and healthy day.
  24. Boarding documents and luggage tags printed. I will begin packing after by nephew's wedding on Saturday. 20 days to go!
