  1. SleepingCat - thanks for the suggestion; but, i think i wil stick to the original plan. HOWEVER, our ship returns to Southampton before leaving on the Transatlantic journey. SO, you have now given me a good idea for my shore excursion for that day. THANK YOU!!
  2. Thanks for the input Post Captain. Will Definitely do a meal in Winchester. When I travel I look for "different"/local food : NO Golden arches for me!!😄 And, I have no interest in something called Pizza Express. However, I have never heard of Wetherspoons, so i will keep an eye out for one and see if it works at the time! THX Again
  3. JB - thanks for all of your insightful - and helpful - input. I do a fair amount of preplanning for our trips and "excursions"; but, the loacl input always teaches you something new or that you havent thought about. So, thanks Again. PS - We are there from 9/26-9/29, so midweek for Friday departure. Accordingly, Sunday is not an issue and I am fine with Crowded morning trains! Also, the condo is in one of the new construction buildings right up the street from Bacaro, so im sure we will be there one night. THANKS AGAIN
  4. -We ( active 62/67 year olds) are coming to Southampton for 3 nights before leaving on a cruise. I would appreciate any/all input, thoughts and suggestions on the following plans/itinerary. We have been to London, so not looking to spend time there. We are used to "self touring" and taking bus/trains "on our own"! We plan on taking the National Express Bus from LHR to Southampton arriving between 2 and 4 pm depending on Flight arrival and bus schedules. We have rented a condo in the Ocean Village area. We will take a taxi ( or Uber) from the bus station to the ondo and to get around town and back/forth to train station, when needed. General Plan ( always subject to modification "on the fly" if something piques our interest ): Day 1 - Pick up snacks, etc for condo and have early local dinner ( suggestions welcome in Ocean Village area). Rest and get settled with good night sleep. Day 2 - Day trip to Salisbury/Stonehenge by Train. Tour Salisbury and take Tour bus to Stonehenge. Hopefully early start with late afternoon return. Dinner in Southampton /local town walking self tour. Day 3 - early day trip to Winchester by train or bus. Late afternoon return and dinner in Southampton with some more self touring in town. Day 4 - taxi or walk to Ship. I am told the Condo is walking distance to Port; but, by then I can assess that reality myself. Some specific questions : (1) Is it the Bus route to Winchester scenic in any way? Or is it better to take train both ways. (2) Do i need to buy train tickets in advance or just buy them on day of travel ? Any thoughts and suggestions Welcome. Thanks
  5. For what it is worth - I am in the US and could not complete the medalion ordering process for the last two weeks. And then earlier TODAY, i was finally able to do so. As noted in some other discussions, there appear to be lots of issues and updaqtes going on in the app.
  6. I am travelling with a bunch of people, all of whom have the premier package. I booked CG for 8 (including some of my companions) and it di the same thing as you described and applied their credits, Therfore no charge. When i booked Sabatinis for 6 people ( 2 from one cabin, 1 from another cabin and 3 from another cabin, includig an infant), it chrged me for 3. I called CS and they could not explain why OR FOR WHO I WAS CHARGED!!! All they said was that i could get a refund on board. They also said - not sure i believe it - that i should not have been able to make reservations until 12 days before my sail date if i wanted to use my "included" SR reservations. I could only book/pay and then get refund on board!
  7. I have sailed HA 5 times in last 2 years and have not sailed princess in many years. However, considering some princess sailings with others who are princess fans. Anybody have recent experiences and willing to share their thoughts on the two lines and their experiences would be appreciated. TIA
  8. One more thing - the menu is a bit smaller than the “regular” tamarind menu on the ships where it is regular restaurant choice.
  9. Ps - I believe this is not considered a “pop up”. I believe HA uses that term for the one night special dinners on some ships .
  10. To all -I am on 14 day sailing of westerdam right now. The way it worked is as follows : the first 5 or 6 days theCanalletto space became the Tamarind and then converted back to Canaletto for the rest of the cruise. So check when you board if you intend on dining in either and make reservations as needed for either (or both). If you made advance reservations you may also want to confirm the nights JIC they switch up the order😀😀😀. note that this was not published anywhere that I noticed and I found this out when I went to make reservations .
  11. I am on westerdam right now and had heating pad in my carry on. No issues with bringing it onboard. Used as needed for back pain but was not questioned at all.
  12. just go to guest services in the square. They will have a sign up sheet.
  13. i am on Encore as we speak and there was both a galley tour day ( watch the calendar or ask when you board as it is limited capcity) as well as a buffet lunch that is set up through the galley. Very nicely done.
  14. When you arrive in your cabin, there will be a little "door hanger" which list various typical "first day requests" : like, sharps container, seperate or put together the beds, how often do you want ice, and several other requests. you just check them off and leave it for your cabin steward ( if he/she is not around).
  15. My wife will play slots for about 30 - 60 minutes on about 2/3 the nights of the sailing : she plays "penny" slots at 40-50 cents per pull. I might play the same time on roulette at $5 - $10 per spin. We always receive free play offers at the end of the cruise and have received a few "free" cruise offers for inside, ocean view and balcony cabins ( although we haven't received one of those offers recently).
  16. IF you spend any reasonable amount of time in the casino over the course of your sailing, you are likely to receive a casino cash offer towards the end of the sailing. The $$$ amount of the offer will likely be somewhat commensurate with the time and $$$ you spent in the casino for that cruise. IT is not clear to me that that relates directly to any future "free cruise" offer you may receive.
  17. I have never been surcharged; but, it may depend on amount. i have probably charged up to $1000 on a typical 9-12 day cruise. Usually charged and played at table games along with cash purchases. IF you are thinking of going to the cashier and "withdrawing cash" they might charge you. hope that helps.
  18. Mary,et al - i read the "operational" to mean that they were brought back into service, not that they are "new" ships, which i agree would likely still be "encumbered". This helps the security of the lenders as they are in service and revenue producing in the event of default and become owned by the lenders in event of default. The big question is which specific ships these are!
