  1. They did have some outdoor movies when I was on the Summit in March. I think at least 2 that I recall. Would have to go home and look at the dailies to confirm if there were any more.

Just a general question, why is this thread still active? Celebrity doesn't have outdoor movies on any ship.

You didn't bother to read the thread?:)

  2. Bad to loose the movie theatre, but on a positive note, these have (IMO) turned out to be the best Oceanview staterooms on M class ships.

What cabins were created(numbers)? We sail on the Summit in two weeks, and are staying on Deck 3.

Staterooms 3112-3144 on M class ships are the "new" oceanview staterooms.

These were created in what used to be a public area so they are much newer than the existing staterooms. They have very large round windows (almost floor to ceiling) and are in a very quiet location.

We had 3112 on Millennium and loved it.

There is a picture of one of these staterooms here:

And quite a long thread discussing these staterooms here:

    http://cruiseforums.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1628023&highlight=oceanview+3112

We wouldn't hesitate to book one of these rooms again.

  3. We won't be sad to see him go. Now maybe we can enjoy Cellar Masters in the evening on our Eclipse cruise.

You'll probably be on your own. From what I recall Cellar Masters was always deserted before Perry started performing there:D

  4. Wow-completely unacceptable.

I would sent a letter to the contact michael email address.

I sent in details of a complaint a couple of months ago and was very satisfied in the how issue was addressed and the outcome.

  5. The Summit used to have a very nice indoor movie theater on deck 3, but it was taken out when the ship was "solsticized" a few years ago to add more revenue generating cabins instead.

I'm with you. I don't like an outdoor movie/big screen concert going when I am sailing along. I appreciate the fact that some like to go to a movie while cruising (not me), but would rather the option be to go inside to a theater than up on deck to negate the cruise vibe. Although, I do realize many lines are going this way and I am probably a minority. Sigh... While I am at it, I wish all lines still had live calypso/reggae music.

Couldn't agree more. It's the biggest thing we disliked on the 1 Princess cruise we tried. LOUD giant TV screen deafening us all day whilst we tried to relax by the pool. Horrible:mad:

  6. We have never sailed on P&O so cannot answer your question, but just wanted to share that we have the same perception of P&O not being gay friendly.

That is why we have never even considered cruising with them.

I don't know if this is down to what I have read or if it is because we see the average P&O passenger as elderly, conservative and almost exclusively British.

I am sure others with actual experience will reply but I can understand why your friends feel this way.

I think that it's great that you come and ask opinions on the G&L board- I think everyone is welcome here:)

  7. Of late I have been using Downey Wrinkle Release and it works good enough. I hate to mention it though as I could forsee Celebrity finding a reason to ban it if it lessons use of their laundry service....

    Does this stuff actually exist?

A couple of years ago when we cruised from Fort Lauderdale, we searched every store we could think of to try and get some of this. We tried everywhere from Wallgreen's to Macy's and even went and looked in the Dollar Tree:o

None of the sales assistants had a clue what we were talking about.

We even asked some of our American friends who we were sailing with and they had also never heard of anything like this before:confused:

  8. I think that the sofa bed only sleeps 1.

It is not the type of sofa which unfolds to make a full size double-there would not be enough floor space in the stateroom for this. I think the stateroom attendant removes the cushions off the sofa and places a single mattress on top of the sofa and makes this up with sheets, duvet etc.

This picture taken on Solstice shows the setup:

  9. I have booked a number of times though a large US agent.

We always receive luggage tags through the post, but as the TA's name is printed on the envelope it would appear that they are sent to us by our agent and not directly from Celebrity.

Either Celebrity automatically forwards the tags to the agent (as we have a non US address on the booking) or our agent requests them on our behalf and forwards them on to us.

  10. I will contact Captains Club and ask if they are able to assist with transfers. Great to hear that they have been willing to do this previously.

Also great idea to post on our roll call to see if there are any others on our sailing who have the same plans and may want to share a shuttle to POM.

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions & advice-I think we have a number of options we can consider. I am really trying to avoid using a cab if at all possible-Fort Lauderdale cab drivers & I don't seem to get along too well but that's another story:)

  11. Hi all.

We have booked 2 back to back sailings but on different ships. The day we leave Connie at Port Everglades we board Reflection at Port of Miami.

I seem to recall reading on here some time ago that X offer complimentary transportation between the 2 ports if you are transferring between 2 Celebrity ships. Down anyone know if this is still offered and how to go about arranging this.

If this is no longer offered could anyone suggest the best way to transfer between the 2 ports apart from a taxi. Is there a shuttle or bus that goes between the 2 ports-surely we are not the only ones who are transferring between ports on the same day?

Our cruises are not until next year but I love to start planning as soon as we book:)

  12. On Millennium in December we dined at The Olympic.

When we were seated we were offered Champagne but we declined and informed them that as we had the premium package and we would be fine with Prosecco (which was covered). We were informed that they did not serve prosecco in The Olympic-only Champagne (starting at $27 per glass).

There was also nothing in the wine list which was covered by the Premium package (there was 1 red wine at $15 per glass and the price escalated from there). When I queried this as we had had no such problem in Ocean Liners on Constellation and in SS United States on Infinity, I was informed that it was the decision of the individual Sommelier wether to keep wines available which would be covered by the package in the Restaurant.

After paying to upgrade both our classic packages, then another $45 each cover charge, I wasn't too pleased with this.

On our next cruise I will be asking if there will be wines covered by the package available before we book.

This is deserving of a note to contact.michael@celebrity.com which will go to the new CEO, Lisa's office. I am pretty sure that this is not HQ's intent and the sommelier's are acting independently to increase their income. They should have at a very minimum, one red and one white that fall within each package.

Perhaps you could just send her a copy of your post and ask if that's Celebrity's policy and something you should expect on future cruises.

Well I have some feedback for anyone who may be interested.

I received a call a couple of days ago from the US. It was a very nice lady who was from the Corporate Guest Relations Leadership Team. She was calling regarding my complaint sent by email.

She couldn't apologise enough and told me that the issue has been fully investigated and she confirmed that what we experienced was definitely not Celebrity policy and that a choice of beverages which are covered by the beverage packages should be available in ALL restaurants including speciality restaurants. She assured me that this has now been addressed with the relevant persons onboard Millennium and the correct policy has reiterated to all ships in the fleet.

She then informed me that she was adding some additional onboard credit to the reservation for our upcoming cruise on Reflection as an apology for the disappointment we had experienced.

I am really pleased with the outcome and the manner in which it was handled. I hope my complaint did not result in someone onboard Millennium getting into trouble but if crew members are deliberately not following policy which directly affects guests experience then I guess it really needed to be addressed.

Thanks ghstudio for suggesting I raise this issue:)

  13. Hi peeps,

my partner and I are sailing on the Celebrity Millenium on 15th March and we are wondering if there will be any other friends of Dorothy on board. We're not even sure if the Millenium host FOD meetings. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    Stan

We sailed on Millenium over Christmas & New Year there was a FOD meeting each evening. Unfortunately it was scheduled at 8.00pm at the Martini Bar.

As the Martini Bar is such a busy venue (especially at 8.00PM) it wasn't always obvious who was there for the meeting and who wasn't.

One of the guys we met managed to contact the X host responsible and requested that the venue be changed to Cellar Masters which was much better. The female host and another male crew member attended on 1 evening. We met some great guys and girls and met up there each evening.

  14. You could call them directly or use the services of a travel agent who may even get you a better deal.

That may be true for US cruise agents but not here in the UK.

Booking through a UK based agent gets you the exactly the same price you can get directly from X.

We NEVER get any OBC from an agent here (we got $525 from the US based agent when we booked our Millennium Asia cruise-this was a gift from the agent on top of the 123 promotion from Celebrity).

All of the UK based agents that I have spoken to have very little knowledge of the product they are selling-we know more about x ourselves. Ask a UK based agent about sweet 16 cabins, new ocean view cabins on deck 3 with large windows on M class ships etc. one agent I spoke to had never even heard of cruise critic:rolleyes:

And then some uk based agents want to charge us an additional 2% fee if we want to pay for our cruise by credit card. And final payment date is earlier than booking directly with X.

I use a US based agent for the perks (OBC) or book directly with X.

To the OP the website can be temperamental from time to time. Wait a while then try again-it does seem to rectify itself if you wait a while.

  15. Perhaps something went wrong and the detergent was not rinsed out of your laundry properly-this could cause the reaction you are describing.

Overloading the machine or adding too much detergent could cause this.

As others have stated, I doubt it is the detergent as you would have had problems on the first evening when you slept on or in the sheets.

Perhaps sending the laundry back and asking for it to be thoroughly re-rinsed may have resolved the issue.

    Just a thought.

  16. This is deserving of a note to contact.michael@celebrity.com which will go to the new CEO, Lisa's office. Great idea.

I tried to do this but the message could not be delivered. Looks like this e-mail address is no longer valid.

Anyone know if there is a new contact address for new CEO Lisa?

  17. With wine in the Speciality Restaurants, there is a good selection under $13- that fits within the "Premium Package" and also a good selection only slightly over ($13.50 to $16.00 glass).. And yes, you only pay the difference if on Premium Package.

  18. Just be grateful they don't have MUTS (Music Under The Stars) as on Princess. I like live music but prefer it not to be deafeningly loud. Actually as I am a little deaf and wear two hearing aids so being able to turn them off can be quite useful. Ask my wife!

    Absolutely agree!

That was the biggest thing which we disliked on Princess.

Christmas Day on Crown Princess by the pool (sea day) they had a football game showing on that huge screen for most of the day with the volume at full.

  19. I think you would get loads of complaints if you removed the band on Caribbean cruises. I just wish they would bring back the bands that play island music with the steel drum bands.

    We also agree with this.

Perhaps we should start a petition and send it to new CEO Lisa-it worked with the pillow chocks:)

  20. Thoroughly enjoyed watching this.

It was great to give my brother and his family a glimpse of a ship we have actually been on (they still think ships are like the love boat and cruising is just for old ladies who sit around drinking tea with the Captain all day).

My niece & nephew were mesmerized watching it and now want to take all their holidays with us:D

The itinerary in that programme (around Australia & Bali) was my dream cruise-something I have to do.
