  1. On Infinity are the kettles in all cabins, or just in the suites?

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

We were in Concierge Class and had a kettle so I would guess that any cat stateroom could get one.

  2. Is the price for the Guarantee still a good deal even if you are assigned a S2?

As Larry says-only consider it if you would be perfectly happy with any of the S2's which nobody else wants.

I recently read a post where someone had booked a suite Guarantee and had been assigned a Royal Suite.

Worse case scenario you will still have scored a great price on a nice sky Suite.

My post probably hasn't helped you:confused:

I would definitely take the risk-but I love to gamble:)

  3. Do people like Quasar? Is it a fun place to hang out at night?

When we sailed on both Solstice and Silhouette we commented how Quasar was always deserted-even late in evening.

I know that X is trying to attract a younger passenger but I don't think the majority of our fellow passengers (at least on those particular sailings) were really into the techno dance music the DJ was pumping out in Quasar.

The 70's party in the Sky Lounge however, was standing room only and still going strong when we called it a night at 2.00am:D

  4. Only problem was our travel insurance wouldnt pay out as we was a day later coming into dock and missed out flights. Apparently we was not covered because it was someone elses Medical Emergency and not our.! But that is another story.!!

Disgraceful treatment by your insurer IMHO.

Your trip was delayed due to circumstances completely out of your control.

I hate it when insurers find ridiculous reasons to decline valid claims and would have considered referring the case to the insurance ombudsman:mad:

  5. This crew has broken their backs to keep this vessel shipshape. Hopefully, our fellow passengers are sensitive to the Captain's warnings and will observe smple sanitary precautions.

Again, every single crew member has gone the extra mile. Michael Bayley can be proud of them.

    Thanks for the update.

This is great to hear after reading so many negative comments and reviews regarding the condition of Millennium and her crew.

  6. If the offer is still available in the US why not book through a US travel agent?

Celebrity is one of the cruise lines which allows this and if you shop around you will probably get a better deal. We have done this a few times and in addition to the 123 offer (which was not available in the UK at that time) our agent also gave us $400 OBC for booking with her.

  7. If they stopped the drinks packages we would not be happy- we love the convenience of the premium package. The 123 offers have been great but we are always happy to pay for the premium package if there is no offer on the cruise we want.

If they stopped offering select dining we would also not be happy-I couldn't imaging going back to fixed dining-I know others like that but it's just not for us.

And finally if X even think about introducing MUTS (those huge noisy TV screens above the pool which completely ruin any chance of relaxing in the sun on a sea day) then I'm afraid it will be time for X and I to call it a day:D

  8. There were definitely taxi's available at the entrance to the port when we were there a couple of years ago but we did not use them as we took the train into Rome and we walked to the station.

I do remember reading a thread regarding getting a taxi to the station and somebody posted that the taxi drivers are only interested in passengers going to Rome or the airport and were refusing to take anyone on short journeys.

  9. Probably because somebody read the recent reports about the attempted murder and rape of a 31 year old female passenger on HAL.

    http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/02/19/cruise-ship-worker-raped-tried-to-toss-us-woman-31-overboard-fbi-says/

    Sad story.

My understanding of that story is that the perpetrator was not the victims stateroom attendant but a crew member who had been assigned to deliver room service orders, who obviously had access to a pass key for all staterooms.

  10. We definitely did have a kettle on Infinity on our 10 night Norway cruise last August-and we didn't even have to ask for it.

We found it tucked away together with cups at the rear of the bottom shelf in the cupboard below the mirror.

It became a daily routine to visit the Oceanview Cafe during breakfast to stock up with sachets of Coffee and the small cartons of milk.

  11. Don't worry-we're all friendly here (well usually).

SV staterooms are in their own category and are therefore not the same category as other balcony staterooms. All of the balcony staterooms on Solstice class ships are identical (except Aqua class which have a fancy shower and footstools) but the reason for the different category and prices are due to their location on the ship. The more desirable location, the higher the category and price.

SV staterooms (facing aft) are more expensive but not all here agree that they are the best. The aft view is nice but on Solstice class ships they have little privacy as they are overlooked from above and offer no shade. Ther are also reports of soot falling on these balconys.

Concierge class are identical to other balcony staterooms but with a few little extras thrown in. Aqua staterooms are regarded as higher that concierge as they have their own restaurant Blu.

  12. For those Perry Grant fans who are interested where he will be during the next 12 months-he has just posted this on his facebook page a few minutes ago:

oh yay ..oh yay ...just recieved scheduling dates for the future year for those many people who wanted to know

i will be on the Eclipse until June 7th 2014...then join Equinox from 19th July 14 Aug 12th 14....rejoin Eclipse from !6th Aug 14 till 18th Jan 15 ....short break then join eclipse 15th feb till at least the crossing ..of course pending on Gods good Grace and will ....i feel very blessed ..thankyou everyone and all my bosses at celebrity cruises for having so much faith in me xx

Hope this is useful for planning future dates.

  13. What is the difference between the butler and room steward? We have never sailed on Celebrity before but are considering a sky suite on Celebrity in the next few months.

The room Steward (and assistant) are there to look after your stateroom (cleaning and making up the bed and turning the bed down in the evening).

The Butler is there to look after YOU-such as making reservations on your behalf as well as serving you meals and drinks in your suite (if desired).

  14. Why don't you just take the $200

    .??

    I was also wondering this.

I apreciate that one should avoid carrying large amounts of cash but is $200 (or $400 for both cruises) considered a lot of money these days:confused:

Wherever we travel in the world we always have a couple of hundred pounds in cash (in local currency) for Taxis, tips drinks etc.

  15. I love Bistro on Five and would hate to see it go as we dine there multiple times during each cruise.

As others have stated why not just make all of the speciality restaurants complimentary for suite passengers then no one looses out.

If suite passengers have their own restaurant then who will sit at the Captains table-or will the Captain abandon us all in the MDR:D
  16. I cannot see any reason why not.

We are from the UK and have booked numerous times through a US based T/A.

You would need their passport details for the booking and as they are entering the US prior to the cruise they would already be in possession of a current ESTA so there would be no problem re-entering the US after the cruise.

  17. We upgraded to a concierge guarantee last August on Infinity and did get the 123 deal.

I specifically asked our TA about this (we wouldn't have upgraded if we would have lost the classic package and gratuities) and we were told we get the 123 deal as it was a Five Star rate even though it was also a guarantee.

I don't really understand the Five Star rate but we did get everything as promised.

  18. We truly hate MUTS which we think should be turned-off during the daytime and take its name "Movies Under the Stars" literally.

    Hank

    Couldn't agree with you more.

On the one Princess cruise we have taken (Crown Princess), this was the thing we disliked the most.

Why would anyone want to spend Christmas Day in the Carribbean (sea day) watching a huge TV with the volume so loud, that it was difficult to have a conversation with the rest of the group:confused:

Whilst overall we enjoyed our time on Princess, I felt that there were too many small issues we did not like for us to return to Princess anytime soon.

I guess we appreciate X more now:)
