  1. I am watching as well. I thought the winning looks were fabulous and would wear the short dress in a heart beat. I would have sent both from the losing pair home, but definitely thought the losing look was the worst. It should zero taste and was poorly constructed. I agreed with Isaac...too much skin.

  2. Around the ship I carry my Old Navy sack style purse. Most of the time it has my Kindle, camera, chap stick, sunscreen, tissues, Purell, sea pass card, and daily. Sometimes DH puts his Kindle in there, but he will carry the purse when he does that. For excursions, I bring my pac safe cross body purse.

  3. We did that on our last cruise...10 days in the Mediterranean. We stuck to specialty and the buffet for dinner and stayed casual. I brought a jersey skirt and jersey pants, but everything else was bermuda shorts and casual tops. I loved it! I mainly did this since we were flying to Europe and I wanted to keep to one checked suitcase for me. It was nice not to have to spend a bunch of time getting ready for dinner.

  4. Wow! You made out fantastically! I love thrifting and see some amazing gowns at my local Goodwill. Unfortunately, they have all been smaller than my size...but I will keep looking. I have also found some great designer belts, clutches, silk scarves, and jewelry in there. You just never know what little gems are hiding thrift stores. :D

  5. The beige suit will be just fine, especially in the Caribbean. Take a good picture of your smiling faces & come back & post it here.

I've been to (& organized) many, many true formal affairs & advised young (& not so young) military members on appropriate civilian attire for different functions as a protocol officer for 30 years. I even have charts [emoji6].

Thank you! :) Walt has joked about getting a Panama Suit for the canal trip.

  6. Thanks for the nice responses, I really appreciate them. Based on the feedback I am getting in regards to Anytime Dining being a cluster on Princess, I decided that we will simply do Specialty or the Buffet for the entire cruise. Since specialty and buffet don't participate in formal night, this is a non-issue.

As for the other comment that was a little, oh how do I say this nicely? Well, I can't say anything nice, so I will not say anything at all. Bless your heart.

  7. Thank you.

I made the dark blue one and the red one

(Which has a print of anchors and shops wheels on it)

The blue is my favourite too and I think I will take it with me on cruise in May.

I love the blue and red dresses! I am also impressed that you made them...great job! Which pattern did you use for the red dress?

  8. I have been watching PR Junior and love it! I have not seen last night's episode yet. I like the mix of judges and find them to be very supportive of the teens. The teens are very supportive of each other and seem to genuinely care about the other designers too. That is a refreshing change from PR and PRAS. I like the three girls in the finale and can't wait to see what they designed.

  9. I don't think they really are that strict TBH. Bf wore a linen shirt with sleeves rolled up and a vest, no tie or jacket and we were fine. Though he did have nice slacks and shoes on. They say Princess is one of the last mass market lines that have formal night, but it's not really THAT formal. I saw a very small amount of tuxes, I don't remember seeing any gowns, but many cocktail dresses and nice pants/sparkly tops.

Thank you. Walt was happy last night when I told him that he could wear the Summer Suit. Then he said, "well I could just tux up." At least there are months for him to decide. If he goes tux, then I go gown. If he goes suit, then I go cocktail dress. Thank goodness I have lots to pick from. :)

  10. Walt and I are cruising Princess for the first time in November. We haven't participated in formal night for a few cruises, so I am thinking we will do it on this cruise. I have plenty of gowns and cocktail dresses to choose from, but I do have a question regarding Walt. Princess states: Tuxedos, dinner jackets or dark suits with a tie for men. Walt has a beautiful light beige (almost a cream color) summer weight suit. Is that acceptable on Princess? We are driving to port, so we can pack the tux if necessary. Just thinking he will be more comfortable in the Caribbean in the summer weight suit. Thanks for the help! :)

  11. Yes! I love retro suits and have a few one pieces, but going to the bathroom with a wet suit is next to impossible! My next one I want a high waist bottom and bikini top. That way the top is more supportive too. I love this one and comes in a bunch of different patterns. http://www.unique-vintage.com/unique-vintage-navy-digital-floral-monroe-bikini-top.html

I love that bikini! And it is exactly the style I was talking about. :D

  12. Have you tried any high waisted bottoms with the bikini tops? I have lots of stretch marks from being formerly obese. I found that the high waisted bottoms cover all the stretch marks and it looks rather retro with the bikini tops. I tend to go with solids for the bottoms and prints for the top...mix and match. :)
