  1. Just switched from a midship E1 to a corner aft on Indy yesterday.

My pass updated, luggage tags as of last night had not, havent checked yet today but I can always do luggage tags at the pier if they don't update.

I had the same thing happen when I upgraded...set sail pass updated, but the luggage tags and cruise docs did not. I called Royal and they had to reissue my cruise docs and that fixed the luggage tags. It took about 24 hours for that to update after the call.

  2. ... that I

    a) am looking forward to Dynamic Dining so that I don't have to pack my suit, leaving more space in the suitcase to buy more gifts and souvenirs (aka tat)

I am pretty much over formal nights, but not sure about dynamic dining yet. I am looking forward to reading dd reviews.

    b) wish that I could access the Cruise Compass via my phone / iPod / Tablet (other devices are available) rather than having to refer to the Cruise Compass?

YES! I love using my iPad on the cruise for the deck plans and my reservations. It would be awesome to have the compass on there too.

    c) be treated by other cruisers as an equal rather than a tier?

Rarely do I run across this on a cruise. When I do, I simply say to the excessive bragger "Bless your heart, your mother must be proud." and move on.

    d) would like to see one day D+ and above stop seeing themselves as 2nd class citizens because they don't get preferential treatment in the Concierge Lounge, or can't queue jump because they didn't book the entertainment in advance?

Actually, this always makes me laugh when I see a grand scale hissy fit. :D

    e) would like to see all Cabanas in Haiti available to book by all cruisers and that there is no private area for Suites and above?

I think there are enough cabanas for non suites to book, so I am ok with the suites getting that perk. For the record, I have never booked a suite.

    f) would like to have a more time in a port to explore the areas that I couldn't do otherwise?

Nassau is the port that comes to mind. We are on the Oasis next month and 7am-2pm is too short of a port call.

    g) would love to see the back of the so called pro photographers who can't take a decent shot to save their own lives?

I avoid them for the most part...unless I really want a nice portrait taken. They are pretty good at portraits, but not the non-staged background shots.

or am I on my own on this?

You are not alone...my answers are in red above.

  3. Hi Lisa!

Just saw this thread for the first time. Cute idea for displaying your accessories!

We are here in NY, boarding QM 2 for England tomorrow. I bought a few scarves today from some outside vendors and thought of you because of a long ago post of yours about accessorizing with scarves and belts. I don't normally wear scarves, but need to add them to make more outfits on my cruises...lol

Have a wonderful time on your cruise Deb!

  4. I finally found this thread again and reread and looked at the pictures. Lisa you are soooo creative and I agree with the others....side business is calling your name! I love looking at your pictures as it gives me ideas to think about. I also tried to "friend" you on FB.

Thanks! If I had more time I would do this as a side business. But work and rowing take up a bunch of my time. :)

  5. I am treading in new water... I want to pack for a 8 night cruise in just 1 carry on bag. I am normally the person that has two full size bags and two carry ones, and that is just for my self. I want to travel light this time, and not have to deal with all the stuff. Does anyone have any tips or trick to help.... Ive been youtubing, and found some great tips, but you guys sometimes come up with things most people would never think about.

    Thanks Jenn

Wow, you sound just like me. :D I have challenged myself to do carry-on only in November for our cruise. My game plan is neutral bottoms and pops of color in my tops and accessories. Also, everything has to go together. For example a shirt has to coordinate with every bottom. If it does not, then it's out. I am also limiting my workout clothes to two sets and hand washing them after each workout. My packing method is a combination of bundling and rolling.

I am bringing my rolling carryon and a back pack. The back pack will only have electronics and beauty supplies. I did a trial run of this on our trip to Niagara Falls and it worked out well. Well, until I saw an outlet mall and went crazy with shopping.

Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

  6. Are they giving you grief to move to another cabin within the type (B1)? that does not make sense.

I can recall changing cabin locations on two cruises in the the past year or so (one of them twice) through our T/A without penalties or losing OBC. It was on cruises we booked at a later date and we moved when it got close to final payment date and the undecided folks moved out of the better location cabins.

Why should Royal care or did I miss something here?

There are no B1's available on the November 29th sailing. A bunch of B2's in better locations.

  7. Thanks Lisa. It is going to have to be a BIG drop for me to even break even on the deal.

I just spoke to my travel agent who told me if I pay to upgrade my cabin I would not only lose my $150 OBC from the WOW sale but also the $100 I just got for being moved out of my cabin.

She said there is nothing further she can do so it looks like I am stuck in that cabin on deck 14.

    Bill

You could also keep an eye out on the BW balconies as we get closer to the sail date and see if any of them become available. How many does your cabin need to sleep? I check pricing daily, so I am happy to keep an eye out for a better cabin location. :)

  8. So they wouldnt waive the cancelation fee but they did give us an extra $100 obc which is all i asked for.

It takes the sting away a little anyway

    .

Will keep my eyes open for a better cabin between now and sale date.

That's for all the support and not flaming me for venting.

    Bill

Hi Bill, I am glad that you got some onboard credit for all of this aggravation. I know that a bunch of us on the roll call are watching the pricing, so I will definitely post over there if I see a big drop on the oceanview balconies.

  9. My husband wears them year round and I have zero issue with it. Heck, he even wore them up in Alaska with his cardigan. He loves the silk ones because they are the only shirts that don't irritate his bi-pass scar.

This is my favorite vacation picture of us...tropical shirt and sweater. :D

  10. I wear white, true white, year round. Maybe it's the rebel in me, but I dress to satisfy my fashion sense and not some rules made by stuffy socialites over 100 years ago. Wear white proudly my friends! :D

(unless the weather will ruin it, then wear darker colors ;))

  11. Thank you for the tips. There is a sewing machine store next to Joann's, so I will definitely swing by there to check out the machines. One thing I am amazed with is how quickly my sewing has improved with all of the refashioning I am doing. I am going to lay off the thrift stores for awhile since I now have way too many pieces to dye and refashion.

For the vintage patterns I have been looking at the measurements to make sure that they will fit me. I still can't believe that they are selling them for that little.

    Lisa

  12. I did some more thrift shopping over the weekend and discovered that the Goodwill near my house sells patterns. The patterns were all uncut and ranged from vintage to current ones. And the cost was 29 cents each!!!! :D I bought a few and plan to check out the other thrift stores to see if they have them. Considering how pricey patterns are, you may want to check out a Goodwill near you.
