  1. Guy's Burger and/or Blue Iguana Burrito. Embarkation Day/Every day.
  2. We tried Celebrity once, a few years ago to try and "upscale" our fellow cruisers. Boy, did we. I think the only people we talked to, or talked to us, was our tablemates in the MDR. Celebrity is the line you take if you want to go on a cruise and be left alone. And, it was pretty much dead after 10 - 11 PM. Went to hear a jazz band play and we were the only ones there. Never in my life have I closed down a casino, except on the Celebrity ship. About 1 AM they came around announcing the casino was closing. I don't generally hang around in the casino very late, but that is the only time in my life I saw one close. So, if you enjoy going on a cruise and meeting new people, not being the only ones on a dancefloor, and having some nightlife, Celebrity might not be the line for you. We'll stick with the Fun Ships.
  3. I always find it helpful to personally hand my laundry bag to the steward and make sure he/she knows that we are Platinum.
  4. I like your ideas. Agree that the multiplier might be a bit steep. Maybe 1.25 for OV and 1.5 for balconies and 2 for suites. Free laundry is a big deal for us, so I do appreciate the perks. Also, really like the idea of free/discounted specialty dining, and possibly a bottle of wine. I often get these types of perks from casino hosts, but would be nice to get as part of loyalty program.
  5. We like April - early May, and late September through November (before Thanksgiving). Also like NYE cruises, but be prepared for crowds and extra cost. We avoid summer due to kids, crowds, and hurricanes. Not a real fan of Jan-Feb because I like it to be warm, and that first sea day going out and the last one coming back can be a bit brisk with a lot of wind.
  6. Never had a problem, but I always make a point to tell the steward I am turning in some laundry. Even may hand it to him. When I do that early in the morning, I have always gotten it back same day.
  7. I take a Prilosec every other day and it has worked wonders. Problem is that I just boarded the Dream for a 2 week cruise and forgot to pack the Prilosec. Going to see what we can get in Jamaica tomorrow.
  8. Hangers and multi-plug adapters are cruise essentials.
  9. I use to say I don't want to go on a ship without Guy's Burgers. But now that they're on most, if not all, Carnival Ships, I say I don't want to go on a ship without an Ocean Plaza. So, that's Dream and Vista. And in my mind, there's not that much difference in the two except that Vista holds more people and generally seems more crowded. We really love the RockBands in the Plaza along with the ample room for trivia and other daytime activities.
  10. Just got on the Dream Saturday. First night dinner was fine. Well timed, the food was actually pretty good. Sea Day Brunch the next day was a different story. Took a very long time to get the food. It was so bad, my wife voluntarily wanted to go to Lido the next day. First time that has happened in more than 125 nights cruising.
  11. We generally do late dining, and as long as we can make it to the late production show, we're good. Last cruise on Miracle in March, service on first night was ridiculously slow. Said something to the Maitre'D on the way out that night and service picked up for rest of cruise.
  12. Just some feedback from a recent visitor.
  13. We dock in Montego Bay and hoping to find safe ground transportation to/from golf course. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks.
  14. 16 days out from Journeys cruise to Panama Canal on the Dream!! Wife just got us signed in and printed luggage tags. Woo hoo!!
  15. Leaving on the Dream 10-22. Latest Deck Plans show that there is no longer a Red Frog Pub. Would be interested to find out what, if anything, is happening in the new Song Lounge. Also a bit concerned about the loss of TVs in the RFP for watching sports. Assume they still have some in casino bar. Any insights you can provide on those issues would be greatly appreciated.
  16. Apparently there are only a few designated cruises that have tournaments. Recently got a casino offer advertising several cruises with slot tournaments, and 4 with BJ tournaments.
  17. We'll be on the Dream over Halloween. Sounds like the Facebook group for that cruise has all sorts of things planned. Looking forward to it.
  18. On our last cruise, my wife and I both had lobster tails. Mine was fine, and hers was terrible. Of course, I'm from Louisiana and she's from Massachusetts. Go figure.
  19. Lot of Christmas music in the casino. And a lot of people that don't celebrate Christmas complaining about it.
  20. It all depends on what you want to do. After going to Belize several times, I feel like I've been there/done that. We did enjoy the cave tubing there, and there is an Eco-Park (albeit a rather long van ride) that we enjoy chillaxing at. Although I don't dive, I understand that Belize offers some of the best. We really like Roatan. Carnival has a private beach area that is within walking distance from the port. I always golf in Roatan, but my wife and kids either went to the private beach, or done zip-lining and really enjoyed both activities. Probably not the best places if you want to just find a restaurant/bar to sit, drink and party.
  21. Anywhere with a great golf course, such as Cabo, St. Thomas, Roatan, and Jamaica. I do like going out of Galveston, and do appreciate the Sea Days. Especially a Sea Day before debarkation.
  22. We leave on the Dream on Oct 22nd for 2 weeks. Expecting the Astros to be deep into playoff baseball and with any luck the World Series. Hopefully, we will be able to watch.
  23. We generally do late dining. Heading out on 16 day Journeys cruise next month. If we have signed up for late dining, but on a particular night would prefer an earlier meal, can we do YTD instead?
  24. Tons of trivia. I especially like the music themed trivia. Lots of fun.
  25. I'm pretty sure all the Dream class ships have a casino annex (smoke-free) on deck 4. Not sure about the Vista class.
