Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I’m just off Vista deck 11 suite 11073. Neighbour noise was low but noise from above was bad and continued into the early hours.
  2. I’m not far off your age and currently on my first O cruise. You’ll be bored out of your mind.
  3. Make your dining reservations as soon as they open. We tried to get additional once onboard via our butler but never heard from him again so next time we’ll just bypass him next time and try and make additional with the restaurants themselves.
  4. We went there today but the chair hogs had been out in full force. There were only about 6 people there for the hour we spent but every lounger had books or belongings on them. Must be an ongoing issue as the CD has been making announcements for people not to do it. Loved the hot tub and pool.
  5. We did a TA on Reflection and it remains our fav vacation. Love that ship and crew. You’ll have a great time.
  6. Our only disappointment has been Terraces the buffet. If you like breakfast defo give it a swerve and stick to main dining room or room service. We both agreed that it was the worst breakfast we’ve ever had.
  7. We’re currently on Vista. Our first O cruise after being Retreat loyalists. It’s a very different vibe. A *lot* more sedate and not as diverse. The bars have been dead after 9pm. At 55 I feel very young compared to the other pax though there are a few children on the ship. We’re not party people by any means but enjoy a chat with other people but haven’t got talking to anyone so far. I’m English and husband is American. Haven’t heard any accents other than American. We’re in a PH1 which is nicer than a sky suite but the butlers aren’t as proactive. On X I couldn’t leave the room without someone asking me if I need something. I do like that you can order room service from any of the restaurants. We did precisely that on Super Bowl night and had a great meal from Ember. We had dinner at Polo last night which was a very good experience. If you’re a foodie you’ll love it. The ship is lovely and we’re really enjoying a smaller ship. On the sea day every lounger was taken from early and the pool was packed. We did miss having the retreat deck but have a lovely extended balcony with two loungers and a table and chairs. The ship is full but the only time you’d notice it is around the pool. Service is prompt but we’ve noticed quite a few people demonstrating a lack of patience and being outright rude to the staff if they have to wait a few minutes. Overall we’re really liking the change of pace and don’t want to go back to big ships. We’ve booked a transpac on Nautica which is even smaller. We’re going to try Seabourn next. The days of being loyal to any one brand are done for us.
  8. I'll be in the same area on our cruise in Feb. If you can, could you please post some pics of the balcony?
  9. Thanks for that. Can’t get a vista suite. It’s pretty port intensive but lots of ports (Carib) that we’ve been to before so we’re happy chilling on the ship a lot of the time. It’s our first Oceania cruise so we’ll definitely be uploading some decent pics of whichever cabin we finally settle on.
  10. Has anyone stayed in Oceania Suite 12011? Currently booked in a PH1 on deck 11 with the extended balcony. I'd definitely pull the trigger for an aft suite as we love a big balcony so I'd like to know how the balcony is on this one in real life. There just aren't many reviews online with photos or videos for specific cabins.
  11. Thanks I’d love to and I’m keeping my eyes out in case any open but I only just booked for Feb so they’re both taken.
  12. We usually sail Celeb Retreat. Our last cruise was on Edge. We really liked the Retreat deck itself but it felt like the ship had no soul. It was too big. There was no actual bar in the Retreat lounge and it felt like we were in an airport lounge. It was just too many passengers. We had a great butler and they gave us their “white glove service “ which was really good but the whole vibe just wasn’t us. We like a big cabin and “nice things” on vacation but I really feel that with the price increases on Celebrity for Retreat you can get a better experience elsewhere. We’re low key and don’t need or want to be fawned over and O seems to fit the bill. This cruise on O is less than a comparable cruise on Celebrity. Our transpac from LAX to PPT for 18 nights in a Penthouse is considerably less than a similar Celebrity one we’d originally booked. We’re also going to use Regent.
  13. We’re jumping ship from Celebrity and have just booked a February ‘24 cruise on Vista and a transpac on Nautica. We’re done with massive ships and the Retreat isn’t worth the price on non Edge class. For the Vista cruise I wanted the extended balcony which looks to be deck 11 in a PH1. There’s scant reviews and videos online from actual passengers and I can’t find any for 11070. Does anyone have any experience in these suites? I accept there may be some noise from being under deck 12. I’m going to waitlist for Oceania suite as well but not holding out any hope of actually clearing it. Any other tips for first timers on O appreciated.
  14. We did a bridge visit today and they said he’s leaving the ship. Each captain leaves a gift for the next captain and his was sitting on the seat
