Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. It's pretty loud and we had vibrations in our cabin while sailing. We knew what we were getting in to when we booked it. 🤷‍♀️
  2. I was told that you need to have been diving within the past six months.
  3. Since they are not providing equipment for SCUBA besides tanks and weights, I doubt masks and fins will be offered. I know I prefer my own, in any case.
  4. I was told by Juan Carlo (Expedition leader on Pursuit) that the Pursuit and Venture would not provide BCDs, only weights and air tanks (no Nitrox).
  5. King George and Grande Bretagne basically have the same location. If you want more classic, old world styling, choose Bretagne. King George is more contemporary. Have fun!
  6. Definitely nothing to be sorry about! We’re lucky to be able to travel about five months out of the year. Starlink undoubtedly allows for more flexibility.
  7. My husband was able to attend a hearing this week from the Antarctic Peninsula thanks to Starlink. Game changer.
  8. Don’t buy Pesos in the US. Bring $100s with the blue line to exhange at a local Cuevas ( black market exchange). It sounds a lot scarier than it is. The Alvear Palace exchanged a small amount of USD initially at a decent rate, though not as favorable as the blue dollar rate.
  9. Currently aboard the Pursuit. I’ll touch on a few of the mentioned questions/concerns: Took advantage of the $50/bag laundry service for my husband’s clothes. Perfectly executed. I used the guest laundry for my workout gear as I’m particular about how it’s washed and was surprised how long the machines take per cycle (55ish minutes for a medium load). Four washers/dryers. There seems to be a steady flow of passengers waiting for machines. Two irons and a steamer are available for your use. I am unfortunately (fortunately?) a bit of a wine snob, and as a result we have ordered off the Reserve list most nights. Head Sommelier has been wonderful though her assistant has considerably less experience and I have felt badly on a few occasions for second guessing the recommendations. IMO the best option on the included list is the Penfolds Koonunga Hill Shiraz. Housekeeping and expedition teams are excellent. Dining room staff may be a little green. Lots of empty water glasses and l o n g (2.5-3 hour) dinners. Starlinks has been perfect. We upgraded ($199 for the length of the cruise) and have even been able to take calls via RingCentral. Seabourn Source is one of my favorite spots on the ship. I like that it opens at 6:15am and they make quite a nice latte. High tea in the Constellation Lounge is great. Overall, the ship is absolutely beautiful and we feel very lucky to be sailing on her. Happy to answer any other questions you may have. Cheers to a healthy, happy, and adventurous 2024! As there is no Veuve Grand Dame or Krug onboard, Ruinart Blanc de Blanc will be my libation of choice this evening to ring in the new year. 😄🥂🥂
  10. It sounds like they aren’t sure how it will operate either. SCUBA is offered but obviously not the sole focus of the sailing is how it was presented to me. They will store gear. The loading area on deck 3 is quite nice with ample cleaning stations. (I do think the Paul Gauguin’s marina is much more suited to SCUBA, however.)
  11. I was told they will provide only weights and tanks/air. I prefer to bring my own wetsuit(s) so not a big deal for me.
  12. Ok—more good info to report! Expedition Leader Juan Carlos Restrepo spent about 15 minutes with me and introduced me to Henrik Enckell who will lead up the dive team. According to the team, Henrik is a bit of a legend amongst divers. Seabourn will try to offer diving/snorkeling at every “port”. Once you are booked, you should reserve your SCUBA slots. 8 divers per zodiac. Hope this helps!
  13. The Pursuit is stunning! The suites are beautiful with very well thought out features (walk-in closet door is the one flaw I see—ask for a stopper). About to go to my kayak safety briefing and I will inquire about snorkeling opportunities.
