  2. Can be done at the buffet, they have a specific British section at breakfast time. Fried bread, black pudding, fried tomatoes, baked beans, British style bacon, etc.
  3. It’s three hours from Messina to Palermo by train, it would be very tight but technically doable. The good news is the Messina Centrale train station is only about a ten minute walk from the port. If you think you can make it to the station by 07:55 the train will get you to Palermo just before 11:00. You’d have to be back at the Palermo station by 14:30 to catch the train that will get you back to Messina at 17:38. Personally, I wouldn’t risk it as any delay will mean you miss the ship but if you’re desperate….
  4. I would totally do this on my own. It’s very easy to navigate from the port to the train station in Civitavecchia, €6 pp for the port shuttle. You may find that a lot of taxis will decline the short ride to the train station as they’re looking for trips to Rome. Once you arrive at Roma Termini it’s very easy to get around on foot or by taxi.
  5. Can’t tell you about JD but Crown Royal was $11 so there was a $1 + 18% up charge. We had lots of OBC so didn’t upgrade our drink packages, instead we just paid the up charges and this worked out to be significantly cheaper than buying the premium package.
  6. Are you sure you’re still stopping at Santa Margherita? My understanding was that Celebrity has substituted Genoa instead.
  7. Great news about the new liquor supplier. Maybe we can get some Canadian whiskey, Crown Royal or Wisers would be awesome. Heck, I’d even settle for Canadian Club.
  8. From the e-docs for my upcoming cruise:
  9. Do you have a letter from the ship outlining how much the FCC will be? After waiting about six months for my credit I called in and was asked to email the letter while still on the phone and the credit showed up in my account within the hour.
  10. Yes you can reply to the forwarded android message from your iPad. Your assumption that it would be routed back through your iPhone is correct. Of course this only works when your iPhone is in close proximity to your iPad.
  11. You can receive text messages from an Android phone on your iPad if you turn on “text message forwarding” option. This is done on your iPhone, not on your iPad in the Messages settings.
  12. We were on Regal in May/June and my wife was in isolation for five days. About a month ago I finally gave up waiting for the FCC to be credited and called Princess. My call was answered almost immediately but I had to be transferred to another department and the agent warned me it would be about a two hour wait. I figured I’ve waited this long, what’s another two hours. After about an hour and 45 minutes the call was answered and was handled very efficiently. Thankfully I had a letter from guest services on the ship proving that we were eligible for the FCC they asked me to email it while I was on the call and within an hour the credit was there. Took a while, but we have almost enough to pay one persons fare for a Caribbean cruise this winter.
  13. Might not need it as the light right outside the bathroom is motion activated.
  14. This absolutely was not the case onboard Regal in June. All the Apple services you mentioned worked perfectly (albeit slowly).
  15. If you want to be really cool you can call it by it’s official Apple name: “Airdrop”.
  16. We cross the US/Canada border frequently by land and have never once been asked for the QR code. They can see the data you entered into the app when they scan your passport. I imagine the same thing will occur when the cruise line submits the passenger list to the Canadian officials.
  17. My wife tested positive on Regal in June. I did not have to quarantine with her, it wasn’t even mentioned or suggested. There were no guidelines given to me about doing anything differently and I wasn’t retested. Of course I took extreme caution and tested myself everyday with kits we had brought from home. I ate alone in the buffet or ordered room service, wore a mask all the time, and generally stayed away from people. I never did test positive and she was released from quarantine on the third last day of the cruise after testing negative.
  18. I notice on cruisemapper.com that you’re heading southwest from Naples and passing south of Sardinia instead of taking the more direct route through The Strait of Bonifacio, between Sardinia and Corsica. Did the captain announce why he’s choosing a considerably longer routing?
  19. Glad to hear they’ve moved them to the Vista Lounge. On our cruise in June they had them playing in the piazza and it was way too loud for that venue.
  20. My understanding was that he was just covering while Aaron Hawkins was on leave. Perhaps this will change.
  21. There is no procedure for visas to be checked when leaving the ship at Gibraltar. It’s basically just walk off and away you go. When walking back into the port area we were asked to show our medallions to prove we were passengers but that was it.
  22. Although the advantages of using the medallion far outweigh not using it, I think the only time they would absolutely force you to use it would be when boarding and leaving the ship. When you scan in and out it brings up your picture on their device which they check for security reasons.
  23. Lucca is amazing. tuscanybus.com has a very inexpensive tour to there from Livorno, stopping in Pisa on the way back.
