  1. Hi!  I haven't posted in such a long time.  So nice to see familiar faces in here!   We have 3 cats here.  Two are sisters and the youngest has been with us almost a year and she was a rescue.  All 3 of them are amazing hunters, which is good because they have gotten 3 or 4 mice in the house in the past month.  We live near a lot of farms, so lots of small grey critters for them to hunt for.

Not many comments on today’s quote.  Please allow me to put on my English teacher hat… Some books have been repeatedly banned or challenged throughout history. These books appear the most often on banned books lists. Have you read any of them?

Good morning and thanks to all who make this thread what it is — a great place to discuss cruises and whatever else strikes your fancy.  Though I have only traveled on a BHB a couple of times, I am really glad I discovered all of you early in our national nightmare — aka the Pandemic.

Our ship reaches Charleston today and we will go out to eat lunch.  A chance of showers but hope we miss them.

Prayers for all in need and those on our care list.  Have a great Saturday.  Katherine

Lady Hudson  it was a global/international pandemic, not just American.

  4. There are heated tables in the spa area of the ships. (Check to see if your ship has a spa.)  This will require that you get a spa pass, but this "loungers" are worth every penny.  I used to love them when I was on the Noordam. There is also a pool in the spa area for people to use if they have a spa pass.  I never saw more than  1 or 2 people in there at the same time.  It's a lovely, quiet area.

  5. @marshhawk my thoughts are with you today.

It's a very sunny and cold day here on the Niagara Peninsula.

When Roy mentioned outliving his brother, I was fairly certain that it wasn't his birthday, but he had lived to the age that his brother had been.  On the day that I knew I had outlived my mother, I was sad and I thought about her for most of the day.  She was in her 30's and died unexpectedly.  I was 6 years and 24 days old at the time.  I think any child that loses a parent at that age feels it whether they talk about it to adults or not, it will always be a part of our life.

  6. Thank you so much for the Daily Report and everyone who posts here!

Went to bed hearing the east side of the house getting thrashed with sleet or ice pellets or something.  Dh and I had a wonderful fire in the fireplace while we watched tv after supper.  Woke up to lots of snow, but one part of our patio remained absolutely clear due to the wind. There is a snow drift right outside our back door.  We didn't lose power thankfully.    Lots of closures for various things today, including schools.  So glad neither one of us need to go anywhere today. Still under a freezing rain warning. I made dh a coffee so he didn't need to go to Tim Hortons.

  7. Hi!  Most of the ice and snow has melted now that the temperature has gone up.  We are in for a few "warmer" days, even though some posters on here wouldn't consider them warm.

I will pass on the food, drink and wine.  I've never been to the port, but it's lovely.  Thank you to everyone who posts pictures.  Thank you to everyone who posts for making this a nice place to be on a "Daily" basis.

  8. Hi!  It's plus 2 Celcius here right now after 3 VERY cold days.  The really good news is that the bugs must all be dead!

My second husband was a jerk.  My life has vastly improved since 2014. Enough said. (Actually my first husband was also a jerk.)  Third time lucky, for sure!!

My dad once owned a vacation home that had a huge shower with 3 shower heads along one wall.  To my knowledge, there was never more than one person in that shower at a time.  The house was over 7.000 sq. feet on 50 acres. Five bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, but only 1 bathroom had a shower.  All the bedrooms were on the upper level and the shower was beside the kitchen on the lower level.  It was a weird house.

I will pass on the meal and the drink and the wine.  I would love to go to Waterford one day.

  9. It's minus 10 Celcius here.  No idea what the wind chill is, but today is a rare day in our home.  Dh is very rarely cold, he loves winter but today he said he was cold.  It's 22C inside the house which is higher than usual, but we had a roaring fire last night and it got up to 26C in the living room.  Dh actually had a window open just before I went to bed.

I will pass on the food and wine, but the drink sounds great!

I need to go to the bank and maybe get some groceries before I go to knitting.

We are having "Pasta Fagioli" tonight.  I have all of the ingredients in my pantry.

  10. @puppycanducruise yes she most certainly was! She dealt with that train derailment in the 70's, her husband had dementia  (or alzheimers) and she dealt with that and she  ran the city like a business and did an awesome job!  So many condos got built, including "the dancers"  which are the tallest in the area and every floor  was slightly different than the one above or below it.  I lived  just north of there for 40 years.

  11. I bought a Royal crosscut shredder from Costco many years ago and it's still going strong, plus it shreds  credit cards and other pieces of ID.

Not a lot planned for today.  Dh will be watching NFL football.  I will be cooking a roast of pork later with crackling.  There will also be homemade  scalloped potatoes.   It's another cold day here.  No sun yet. There is a possibility that we might go to Costco today.  Not sure yet.
