Nitemare, these were different questions asked by two different members after pch "piggybacked" the original question by jack300s, who doesn't appear to have  returned to the thread with a clarification..

    Ahhh!  Clarity!!   Thanks!

@pch, I'm not sure about luggage lockers there, but you could leave your bags at your hotel until you are ready to go to the ship, I think taxi would be the best options, if the cruiseline isn't offering a transfer

    Hi,

what do you think, is it worth to have a balcony cabin on Iceland, Svalbard, north Norway cruise?

I could get an upgrade for about 170 EUR. I would like a little bit more space, but don't know if we will use it because of the low temperatures (we are travling end May/begginning june), it would be a guarantee cabin, so I don't know where will they put us, and there is midnight sun...

I'm open for all suggestions and experiances that you have 🙂

Is a balcony cabin worth it? Did you use it a lot on your cruise?

Sounds like a reasonable fee for an upgrade like that.  Just wear a heavy coat!

We have a couple days precruise in Reykjavik and have reservations city center. Best option to ship ?  Late departure from Reykjavik on cruise.

Sorry.  I am still having trouble figuring out what you are asking.  Before you talked about "airport".  Now you are asking about city and ship?

There are cabs in Reykjavik, if you are asking "city to ship".  There is Flybus from airport to city, if you are asking that.  If you are asking something else, maybe spell it out entirely?  Since no one else is trying to help, maybe I'm not the only confused one here?

    And you're the admin?

Admins have "Host" next to their name.  Not sure why you'd think I was an Admin.  I saw your first post and asked if you had a question, and I tried to answer it if it was, as most posts here are questions.

Then you asked if I didn't make posts like yours and I said I didn't.

Thank you for the reply. I am seriously considering This because I just can’t stomach $500 plus a night. We would come into the city and spend the day and head back when we’re done for the day. Same for the second day.

If you list your exact dates and bedding needs and max budget per night we might be able to suggest something in Manhattan.

TripAdvisor has MANY experts on the NYC board who do this all the time.  LIC is great as a lower cost alternative, and is close to midtown, but there is something special about stepping out of your hotel and BEING in Manhattan that you don't get this way

I know Flybus transfer between BSI terminal and KEF airport. My specific question is about picking up from the cruise terminal.

Did you take this transfer before? Does it always require advanced booking or the route from the cruise terminal to KEF is a regular scheduled service?

I have not taken the FlyBus from the cruiseport, only from a downtown hotel, with the BSI transfer.  If they list the cruiseport as an option I'm not sure why it might not work

Antarctica21 pioneered Ushuaia-King George Island flights.

Their current luggage limit is 20kg in total and there's no option to pay for a second checked piece.

    Do you have a question?

They are small planes in difficult conditions.  And not many reasons to "dress up", so more bags aren't really needed.

Decided to stick with our original plan to stay in NJ and drive to the port morning of cruise.  What was appealing with this was that they said they were picked up right outside the terminal.  (and it cost less than parking fee)  Typically, you have to cross the street to meet your ride.  Since we'll have 2 young grandchildren with us this trip, we weren't crazy about trying to get everyone and all the luggage across the street. looks like driving in will be the easiest.  thanks for the input!

There is a traffic light AND police helping folks cross the street there.  Tons of folks with tons of baggage, so there is lots of time to make the crossing.  Might be the easiest and safest City Street Crossing you will find anywhere.

  9. Not sure I understand your question.  Are you asking how long to see all of downtown?  Or something else?

You can walk the main streets in 2-3 hours.  Or spend much more time if you shop a bit and maybe have a meal

Going up to the top of the Cathedral is a good use of time, too

We've are in the planning stages. We live in California. Thinking of taking a cruise from New York City to Reykajvik. On the day the cruise ends we hope to catch a flight back home. Does anyone know how long we would have to wait at the Airport to fly back home?

I don't understand the question.  Your title is about transfers, but your question is about how long you will have to wait at the airport?  Maybe something got left out?

  11. What time of year?   Summer temps in Iceland do usually see lows around 50, but can dip a bit lower.  Spring and fall are cooler at night, since there *IS* night that time of year.  You also get stronger winds away from summer which make it feel colder.

Iceland requires WATERPROOF, not Resistant, clothing, year-round.  Expect rain every day.  We've been in Iceland 31 days total, so far, and we've had rain (or sleet or snow) on at least 20 of those days.  As long as you are prepared (and an umbrella won't help) you'll be fine.

Expect January Mountain View like temps in summer and you won't be far off.
