For Uber, just book it once you are off the ship.  SO many Uber drivers in the city, one will be along in just a few minutes

Sure, especially overnight. But for a few hours arriving and departing a port that side will have more scenery 

IN theory the starboard side will have more land views heading south along the coast.  But winds generally come from the west so it might be more breezy.

The Garden Inn is slightly better located, on a side street, not the highway, but I consider them to be 'sister hotels' as they are adjacent.

I agree, pretty flat.  You can "walk it" on Google Maps street view.  That area is being built up FAST, so some things may have changed, but the street levels should be what you see.

Candy Stores and Mini Superette are not located till about 8 - 9 Avenue and very few on 10th Avenue.

 

11th Avenue in that vicinity are main Big Automobile Dealerships and some parks.

It is a generic hotel in a not very attractive area (next to an Amazon warehouse) with not much nearby.  It is just a 15-20 minute walk to Revere Beach, which is one of the country's oldest public beaches.  I'd look into the nearby Springhill Suites which is right across from the beach and adjacent to the subway

With the fare plus the fees and tolls and tip, expect the total to be right around $100.  A bit less if the driver doesn't help with the bags, a bit more if it is warranted

Yes, there are stores within walking distance from either pier, depending on how she defines walking distance.

They may not carry Canadian Currency, ships carry fewer and fewer types of currency these days

Castle Island is one of our favorite places for a waterside walk.  Right across the harbor from the airport, so you can watch the planes land or take off, depending on the wind.  Nice flat walking path, really good and affordable snack bar there, too.

90 minutes would be if you walked it for exercise. 4-6 hours is a better estimate if you are actually going to look at all the historic sites along the route.

If you just want a walk, I'd suggest the Charles River Esplanade or Castle Island

They have alot of reviews on TripAdvisor, have you checked on the Iceland board there if you need more info?

If you walk in LA you'll have no problem walking in NYC.  Especially on a cruise day, those streets are full of folks lugging their luggage.

It does sound like a full day.  What is the all day tour you are taking?  Are you certain it will get you back in time for your flight?   With no active volcanos there isn't much current demand for helicopter flights, but that's your choice.

It's about a 10-15 ride from Eagle airfield to Sky Lagoon, I'd check with the copter company to see if there are taxis there.  Or maybe they can just drop you at the Lagoon?  🙂

Taxis from JFK to Manhattan come out to about $100 including tolls, fees, and tip.

There are public transit options that work out to $12-$18/head that require the Air Train followed by either Subway or Long Island RailRoad

You might want to ask on TripAdvisor, there are quite a few locals and other visitors with lots of experience who might have info

1) Which one is best depends on if you have a personal preference, but it mostly depends on which ship/itinerary you are traveling.  I am not familiar with anyone who chose their Antarctica trip based on the departure port

2) Any of the smaller ships will let you land and walk on the continent.  It is extremely rare that all land excursions will be canceled.  So none of the majors like Princess, NCL, Royal, Celebrity, etc, will have landings scheduled.  Those cruises are much less expensive as they are just Sail Bys

I recall pay toilets at Dynjandi and another spot in the Westfjords.

You can also cross anywhere south or north of the terminal and walk up or down to the ship.  We love the piers to the south of the Cruise Terminal to see the Tour boats as well as the USS Intrepid, which is docked just below the cruise ships.

We took advantage of gas station rest rooms.  They are all free if you buy something.  Always a candy bar or a bottle of soda or some local trinket (or fancier) worth buying to make it an easy transaction
