Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I’ve really been appreciating these updates from all parties onboard. I’m on the next sailing, fingers crossed. My original flight to LaGuardia was Saturday the 16th, but after watching what transpired with all the poor people trying to make it to your ship in time, I bumped my flight to tomorrow the 14th. All packed and ready to go in the morning, with plans for two extra days in the greatest city 🌃 as a precursor to this cruise. Safe sails home.
  2. I was on this cruise and have been waiting to post since the event was ongoing, but was unable to log into Cruise Critic until right now. For a bit of closure as for what happened to the final group of four passengers that were hiding on their balcony- (and this was after the other 29 passengers had finally been found and left the ship) According to a couple of employees in the Miami immigration terminal (NOT Royal Caribbean employees but Immigration terminal employees) The four passengers that were hiding are being charged by Immigration for obstruction of the Immigration process. I don't really know the specifics of what that means, I would imagine at the very least, it would be a hefty fine for all four of them. (Assuming none are minors- I don't know that detail. I would not be surprised if they were detained and removed from the ship and immigration terminal for at least a few hours. I would be extremely surprised if they were allowed back onboard the ship. After all, they were in violation of the cruise contract and cost RCCL thousands of dollars and created a literal nightmare situation for not only 5000 passengers- but also every single crew member all the way from every cabin steward who had to hear 5000 people complaining to them over the next several hours, to the Guest Services employees who had to deal with a line of furious people trying to get refunds for missed excursions, spa bookings, Northstar reservations, or just to angrily vent, the Windjammer and other food venue employees who had to deal with thousands of hot and HANGRY passengers, to the Captain who had to publicly apologize over the ship announcement system more than once (I heard two announcements after I was onboard) and write/send out an apology letter to every stateroom. I cannot imagine a reality in which those four passengers would be allowed to sail with Royal Carribean again anytime soon.
  3. Wouldn't this completely destroy any and all TSA xray/screening machines during security checks, which you'd probably then have to pay for? And what happens if someone with a metal pin/implant or pacemaker gets near it, given that many elderly people travel on cruises? It seems to me like it would get you in a tremendous amount of trouble if not get you sued or be liable for any harm or damage it would cause to vital equipment and other passengers.
  4. Oh, sorry for the confusion- by public transportation, I meant Taxi or Uber/Lyft. I have not lived in cities with subway or rail systems so I didn't even consider that most people would assume that's what I was referring to. We definitely won't be venturing through the subways or light rail systems on this trip, being unfamiliar with how subways work, my Mom on a cane/transport chair, plus dragging luggage. So we will be doing taxi or Uber only. Thank you for all the info!
  5. I'm going to be sailing out of Cape Liberty on Saturday Oct 29th. We are flying in the day before (Friday, Oct 28th) and I'm trying to figure out where the best place to stay would be, as I'm not familiar with those areas. We would be taking public transportation from the hotel to the cruise terminal. Which area is quickest and easiest to get from hotel to cruise terminal via a taxi or Uber? Or even hotel shuttle, if they provide that. Our cruise check in time is 10:30am. I'm leaning towards staying in Jersey City near the waterfront area but would love some recommendations, as I don't know the area at all.
  6. Sorry for bumping a slightly older thread, but my question pertains to this. What is the earliest time slot they let (non suite) people board the ship? Do people with disabilities board earlier? (My stepmom is in a wheelchair.) We would like to get on board the ship as early as possible to start making the most of our day (I understand we will need to keep our carry on luggage with us until much later in the day.) I am an early bird and normally go to bed around 10pm and up around 6-7am. Should I stay up til midnight to make sure we get an early time slot or does the wheelchair bypass time slots?
  7. Thank you! I didn't know we could email about that- I have done so right now.
  8. I'll be sailing on October 29th and I'm so curious to know who will be performing in the Music Hall. Is there a schedule somewhere? I've heard wildly conflicting information- everything from 'the same band stays on the ship for months' to 'the band changes every couple of weeks.' As I understand it, a Beatles tribute is onboard currently. I've heard rumors of a Journey tribute and rumors of an Aerosmith tribute for November/December. Is there a way to find out this information? I saw Pandora's Box on Ovation of the Seas in 2019 and loved them! When I hear rumors of an Aerosmith tribute on Anthem, I'm really hoping it'll be them again, but I don't know where to find this out, if it's even possible.
  9. Thank you! I had read about the air temperatures but that link had a very helpful section about water temperatures and what is considered warm/enjoyable water, which I wasn't sure about. Sounds like it will be worth it to book the water park, then.
  10. I reserved this for dinner (not the sushi and sake lunch.) I really hope we can just sit at a nice quiet table and order off a menu without all the crashing spatulas and food being thrown at us. I hate those restaurants.
  11. I'm looking really hard at booking a day pass for Aquaventure, but we'll be there on November 2nd. I know that the air temperature will be lovely, likely in the 80s. But I'm wondering if the water will be too cold to use any of the pools or waterpark features?
  12. I'm trying to plan an excursion to Atlantis for our Anthem of the Seas cruise from Oct 29th-Nov 6th. I'm seeing a lot of conflicting information about when we're actually in port. On the cruise itinerary on Royalcaribbean.com, it says we are there from 8am-5pm. But on the calendar in my cruise planner, it says we're there from 8am-9pm. That's a huge difference. How do I find out what the actual time is?
  13. With some trepidation, I made a reservation for my mom and I on our upcoming cruise in October. My mom has extremely bad food allergies to olive oil, garlic, onions and shellfish, which pretty much is in every single dish they make. I understand Royal Caribbean is very careful with food allergies- I'm hoping she can eat the beef teriyaki bowl, I don't know what's in that sauce of it they make the sauce in house and if it can be altered. If not, i'm hoping they can make her a beef or chicken fried rice and leave out the ingredients she's allergic to. We do have success in hibachi restaurants locally that will accomodate her like that.
  14. How do you book it? Do you have to call them or something?
  15. I love to make cruise lanyard that can double as a pretty necklace so you don't just have a cord around your neck. Not trying to be rude and advertise on here, but it seems relevant to the topic. Edit: To be safe, I removed my Etsy link but if you search Teakberry on Etsy, you will find them.
