  1. Good morning friends! Here where I am it's 57F currently with clear skies. High will be 80 with morning sun and afternoon partly cloudy skies. Thanks to Roy @rafinmd for helping with the fleet location maps and to Rich @richwmn who put together the info for our enjoyment months ago! Today there are several nice days to recognize. "Peace" Rose Day is a day to enjoy a beautiful flower that symbolizes peace, something we all yearn for. World Wish Day is sponsored by the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a worthy organization. And zippers which we don't think much about but which are so, so handy. A lengthy quote today and very though provoking. Think I'll pass on the meal suggestion, perhaps on the drink and yes to the wine! Oh my, what a day when they began tearing down the Berlin Wall. It's surprising how long that atrocity and concept held on. Kudos to President Reagan for moving on that issue and getting something done. Thanks today to our team Tina @0106, Dixie @summer slope, and Ann @cat shepard for their reporting. Prayers for DB, great nephew Alex's twin baby boys, the people of Israel and Ukraine, the hostages still held, and our military men and women overseas in the region. Many prayers said for all here in need of them, and hopefully they are working! 🙏 I hope Maurice hears from the approval committee for his heart valve surgery, and that Chuck's @catmando's appointment works out well for him and Annie @marshhawk. 🙏 My twin is doing fine after her surgery, and my friends seem to be coping well so they can be removed from any rotation thankfully. Your prayers work!🙏 Cheers for all celebrating big events in their lives and to those cruising. 🚢🎂🎉🥂 We salute you all. Thank you Vanessa @JazzyV for doing the Care and Celebration lists for us all. We are so glad you are here on the Daily! The port today is another Japanese port, Kochi, Japan. I have not been there before and have no photos, so here are the links to May 31, 2022 and Nov. 2, 2023 in case you have some photos there to retrieve. Hope you all have an enjoyable day and wish you a safe one. Keep well!
  2. Today is "Peace" Rose Day, World Wish Day, and Zipper Day When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.--Henri Nouwen, Out of Solitude: Three Meditations on the Christian Life Meal Suggestion for today - Mexican-Inspired Grilled Corn Salad with Cotija Drink of the Day - White Tea Wine of the Day - Josh Cellars Sauvignon Blanc Destination of the Day - Kochi, Japan Today in History: 1990 Wrecking cranes began tearing down the Berlin Wall at the Brandenburg Gate Ship Locations Eurodam At Sea Destination San Francisco, California eta 04-30 Koningsdam Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska, Juneau, Alaska 09:00 - 09:30 ,13:00 - 22:00 Nieuw Amsterdam At Sea Destination Juneau, Alaska eta 04-30 Nieuw Statendam At Sea Destination Gibraltar, UK eta 04-30 Noordam At Sea Destination Vancouver, BC Canada eta 04-30 Oosterdam Kusadasi, Ephesus, Turkey 07:00 - 18:00 Rotterdam Eidfjord, Norway Hardangerfjord 08:00 - 17:00 Volendam Prince Edward Island, Charlottetown, Canada 08:00 - 17:00 Zaandam At Sea Destination Seattle, Washington eta 04-30 Zuiderdam At Sea Destination Banjul, Gambia eta 5/1 Eastern Hemisphere Westerdam Kushiro City, Japan Kushiro 07:00 - 15:00
  3. My goodness, that's a lot of ice for September. It looks like January out there! Our photos were taken Aug. 15, 2018 and I'm so glad the weather was that nice.
  4. Thank you for the excellent recap of the Fleet Report and Daily history. And for the photos from Ilulissat. What month was this visit there? I'm really sorry to hear about the pain in your injured shoulder. I hope you have help while you're working through it. Get your rest. It's great to read of the amount of sleep you've gotten recently. I hope that continues! As usual I woke up at 3:30 a.m. 😵‍💫
  5. Good Sunday morning friends! It's 58F here and will be 80 and mostly sunny today. I would have slept in later since there's no workout on Sundays but my brain doesn't know that and wakes me up anyway. 😪 Thanks Roy @rafinmd for helping out with the fleet location maps and thanks always to Rich @richwmn for the content of the Fleet Report and Daily. Today is National Bravehearts Day for pediatric cancer awareness, National Superhero Day, and Occupational Safety and Health Day. It's also Kiss Your Mate Day and National Blueberry Pie Day! The quote by Lou Holtz is an interesting thought. He's such a likeable guy! The menu suggestion might have too much starch/carbs for most of us. I'll pass on the Midori Martini and Riesling. Claude Grahame-White was a bit of risk taker back in 1910! Thanks today to Tina @0106, Dixie @summer slope and Ann @cat shepard for the food and beverage reports. Prayers being said for my DB, great nephew Alex's twin boys due in July, and my friends in need of support. Twin Linda is doing well after her surgery. Prayers too for the people of Israel and Ukraine, the hostages not yet home, and our troops in the region. Also prayers for our Care list and rotation people such as Tana, Maurice, Jim and Pennie. Hoping for improvement in physical and mental conditions for all. So sorry to hear Jim lost his childhood friend. Please give him my condolences Terri @Cruzin Terri. Congrats to all celebrating birthdays and anniversaries and to our group of cruisers. Hope you all have an enjoyable day.🎉🎂 Thank you Graham @grapau27 for Father David's sermon today. Thanks to Vanessa @JazzyV for the excellent list keeping during your recovery from surgery and your dedication to duty. Hope it was another good night and will be a spectacular day for you.🙂 A darling photo of Kevin yesterday, the new orange kitty for Maurice's DD. What a face! Today's port is Kobe, Japan. This was the port in the past on Aug. 25, 2022 and March 17, 2023. Here are the links for your convenience in retrieving your photos. I have not been to Kobe before. Have a great day today everyone! Stay safe and keep well!

  7. I was just informed the St. Louis City game was postponed until June. Maybe the team was scared off with the bad weather yesterday and didn't want to fly over thunderstorms and possible tornadoes. The weather there today isn't actually too bad according to DS. I agree the photos by Ann @Vict0riann of the glaciers and mountains in Greenland were pretty spectacular. I also agree a lot of ships probably wouldn't call there though we did see a Ponant ship there the day we were. Could have been more but they were waaaayyyy out from shore and couldn't tell who they were. This season I looked up the schedule and there was one ship (MSC) in July and two in August (AIDA and Phoenix Reisen). However I wouldn't say Ilulissat is pretty far north in Greenland. More like central west coast. Or south central.
  8. Good for you making blankets for your veterans in hospice. Shout that from the rooftops! I also saw the blankets on Pete's video. The ones for sale were very special and I hope they sold for high prices to benefit Project Linus. My weather app is not showing rain for Frisco today too, until later tonight. Just lots of wind all day. That can affect the play of the game so hopefully they're playing now and all is well. Thanks for the well wishes for Ren folks.
  9. Ilulissat (Jakobshavn), Greenland What an experience visiting Ilulissat in 2018! It’s the most popular tourist destination in Greenland and a World Heritage site. Disko Bay is full of icebergs which calve off the glacier and it’s fairly shallow so they tend to stay put. Our Seabourn Quest captain was a Russian mariner who was not afraid of a bunch of icebergs. He wound our way into the bay fairly close so our tenders didn’t have to travel miles to the little dock in town. NOT big enough for a cruise ship! We took a shuttle from the dock to a more centrally located area of the town. From there we began our walk to see the glacier. We had to walk a fair distance up a dirt road and came upon a sled dog habitat. We soon arrived at the entrance to a boardwalk which would take us safely across the meadows to the Sermeq Kujalleq glacier, the UNESCO World Heritage. I can’t imagine trying to walk that rough terrain without it. This glacier is also called Ilulissat Glacier or Jakobshavn Glacier. I spotted a tent where someone was camping. A mossy spot And a cotton look-alike plant. Approaching a rocky area Really gorgeous scenery The amazing glacier! People sitting on the edge enjoying the scene Reluctantly we headed back along the boardwalk and made our way to the dock via shuttle. Enroute to the Seabourn Quest. Stowaways on a chunk of iceberg All cleaned up and ready for our 6 pm champagne/caviar/vodka party on deck. My spot at the champagne table Leaving Disko Bay that evening
  10. Good morning everyone! The temperature has been rising here since last night from the mid 50's to the present 61 degrees. The high today will be 79 and cloudy for the most part. I read on yesterday's Daily that many of us complained of having problems with getting on Cruise Critic late yesterday. That included me and I usually use Chrome. This morning Chrome still isn't working and I'm able to post today due to changing to Edge. Good luck to you all and I hope someone is working on this problem for us. Thank you Roy @rafinmd for the fleet location maps today and to Rich @richwmn for the content. I noticed the ships in North America were on the move, but all over in Africa, Europe and Asia were moored and still. A big celebration day for Holland America with Kings Day so enjoy that cruisers! I think we have three good days to recognize with Devil Dog cakes, the little pampered dogs we might own, and teaching our children something important like saving. An excellent quote by Helen Keller. I'll have to think about the shrimp and cauliflower bake, no to the drink and I don't know about the wine yet. A creative day in 1810 for Beethoven so good for him. Thanks for all the reports today Tina @0106, Paul @kochleffel or Dixie @summer slope, and Ann @cat shepard. Prayers this morning for the Care list from the Daily, family and friends, the people of Israel and Ukraine, the large group of hostages who are in bad shape I'm sure, and the troops at bases and at sea in the area. It would be a great day to remove all of those listed from our Care list! Praying for improvement in everyone's lives.🙏 But cheers to those with special events to celebrate 🎂 and cruising! 🚢 Welcome home to those returning. Vanessa @JazzyV will let us know who all those people are. Thank you so much Vanessa for taking care of the lists while you recuperate and rest up from your many months long ordeal! You are doing a great job! The port today is an interesting and brand new one. Ilulissat (Jakobshavn), Greenland on the west coast of Greenland. The glacier there is fascinating to see up close and personal, and it provides the many icebergs in Disko Bay. We visited it in 2018 on Seabourn Quest and I think it was the best day of all the Greenland ports for us. No links but I have to put together the photos and report back here. Hoping everyone has a great Saturday today, so stay safe and keep well.
  11. Kings Day (The Netherlands) Today is National Devil Dog Cakes Day, National Little Pampered Dog Day, and National Teach Your Children To Save Day When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us. --Helen Keller Meal Suggestion for today - Shrimp and Cauliflower Bake Drink of the Day - Creole Splash Wine of the Day - Argiano-Brunello-Di-Montalcino Destination of the Day - Ilulissat (Jakobshavn), Greenland Today in History: 1810 Ludwig van Beethoven composes his famous piano piece "Für Elise" Ship Locations Eurodam San Diego, California 07:00 - 16:00 Koningsdam Vancouver, BC Canada 7:00-16:00 Nieuw Amsterdam Victoria BC, Vancouver Island Canada 09:00 - 23:00 Nieuw Statendam Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Canary Islands 07:00 - 23:00 Noordam At Sea Destination Vancouver, BC Canada eta 04-30 Oosterdam Souda-Chania, Crete Greece 08:00 - 17:00 Rotterdam Rotterdam, Netherlands South Holland 07:00 - 15:00 Volendam Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada 10:00 - 18:00 Zaandam Vancouver, Canada d1500 Zuiderdam Takoradi, Ghana 08:00 - 17:00 Eastern Hemisphere Westerdam At Sea Destination Muroran, Japan Iburi eta 04-29
  12. Bruce @aliaschief I enjoyed seeing the photos of the Azamara Onward today. I kept thinking this ship looks like a ship I've been on. And now I realize it was the Pacific Princess which we cruised on only once in 2018 from Venice to Ft. Lauderdale. I'm sure a lot of work went into refurbishing the ship by Azamara because there were some problems with our balcony door during the sea crossing. It was leaking and got the carpet wet. You could see where it had caused damage to the interior for some time. But it was a beautiful ship then and is even more beautiful now. Nancy @ottahand7 sending hugs to you on this important date in your memory. Vanessa @JazzyV I'm very happy to hear you report you slept 7 hours last night! Enjoy that nice shower and watching Call the Midwife. Sharon @Sharon in AZ I hope your DM is feeling stronger and more like her old self again very soon. Annie @marshhawk and Chuck, I hope you are having a nice day. I hope the work situation is settled to your satisfaction. Graham @grapau27 you must be enjoying the back garden today. It's such a pleasant and calming view. Carolyn @Cruising-along I've very much enjoyed your photos today of Hobart. It really is a nice town, isn't it? Elizabeth @Haljo1935 please stay safe and alert today! I believe there is an FC Dallas U17 vs. St. Louis City SC U17 soccer game at 9 am tomorrow and I see Frisco is expecting high winds and rain in the morning with thunderstorms in the afternoon. Not an ideal day for a game. The St. Louis team needs this game to qualify for an upcoming tournament. Dallas does not need it since they've already qualified so they somehow need to get this game in the books for St. Louis City's sake.
  13. We enjoyed visiting Hobart twice in 2013 on Diamond Princess and twice in 2017 on Sun Princess. I'll show a couple different things we did in Hobart. One time a fellow CC friend rented a car and invited us along to visit the Tahune Airwalk, where you get an aerial view of the forest. They have metal walkways high in the tree canopy and Tasmania has some of the tallest trees in the world. When on the ground you sometimes faced obstacles but they had found a way to let us pass. After the forest walk we ate lunch at a small restaurant, and drove back to Hobart. The second time in Hobart on this Diamond Princess cruise in 2013, we got off the ship and walked through the town. It's quite nice and easily walkable. In 2017 on Sun Princess we visited two times. The first time we made a beeline for the Hobart Botanical Park. The second time we walked the town again. You can always find new things to see if you just turn in the opposite direction! Across from the harbor is City Hall, a beautiful building IMO. Along the path we took to the Garden, we passed Government House, home of the Governor of Tasmania. The Botanical Gardens abutted the Government House property which must have been nice to see the gardens while strolling the grounds. Here are the gates to the Botanical park. They handed you a map thank goodness. Love these! Goodness, there was so much to see. I'd love to go back, and highly recommend visiting here. This was in the sub-Antarctica plant house. There was a Japanese Garden too. Well, I have to stop now. I could be here all day doing this. Hope you enjoyed the photos of time spent in Hobart.
  14. Good morning friends! It's 54F this morning and we will see partly cloudy skies and a high near 80. Thank you Roy @rafinmd for the great fleet location maps, and Rich @richwmn for the content of the Fleet Report and Daily. We can celebrate John James Audubon and the Audubon Society today. I know several Australians but don't think I will be able to hug them anytime soon. Something we won't forget but should remember is the Chernobyl disaster and hope something like that never happens again. A fun quote, and a nice dish for salmon lovers. The drink sounds nice but we shall see what's involved in it later. No idea about the wine so will have to wait for an explanation. The first modern cargo ship in 1956 sounds like a big advancement in trade. Thanks today to Debbie @dfish or Tina @0106 for the meal, Paul @kochleffel for the cocktail and Ann @cat shepard for the wine information. Prayers for all our Daily friends in need of them. Special prayers for Tana and Terry @smitty34877 and for Maureen and Richard @RMLincoln as they mourn the loss of their SIL. Also for my DB, Linda, great nephew Alex's twins and my dear friends. And many prayers for the people of Israel and Ukraine, the hostages still held, and the U.S. troops on bases and at sea in the region. 🙏 Cheers to all celebrating happy events like birthdays and anniversaries, cruises or good news! Roy @rafinmd congrats on your PSA numbers declining again, and safe travels to Debbie @dfish! Thank you Vanessa @JazzyV for today's Care and Celebration lists. I hope sleeping in the recliner gets you more sleep and am happy about how much more comfortable you are since the surgery.🙂 The port of today is Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. An excellent day to hug our Australian friends! Hobart was port of the day on January 4, 2022 and Feb. 23, 2023. I'll post those links for you, then post some of the delightful photos I took in Hobart and surrounding areas. Hope everyone enjoys their Friday, and stays safe and well!

  16. Note the end date in the title of that roll call is incorrect. The actual end of the 42 day cruise is July 20. I mentioned it once but the OP didn't ask to have it changed I guess.
  17. Thank you Vanessa @JazzyV for the important information about Gerry's @ger_77 DH Maurice's 83rd birthday! Happy Birthday Maurice!! Hope it's a great one!
  18. Santorini Greece. I'm only posting photos from our first time there because they would probably all be the same. In fact the third time we stayed on the ship. I believe the weather wasn't great that day. In 2012 we stopped at Santorini for the first time on Crown Princess. Once we made our way to the top using the gondolas, we walked to the local bus station and boarded a bus headed to Oia. This stop was in late November so the crowds weren't terrible. Along the way the view of the island and coastline. Once in Oia we did what we all do, walk around and take photos. Here is the blindingly white church. Everything there is blindingly white! Anything not white seems to be Santorini blue. I like to take photos of doorways. After our nice visit to Oia we rode the bus back along the two lane winding road to Fira. Another ride down on the gondolas and a tender over to the ship. A beautiful stop on our Greek Isles cruise.😎
  19. Good morning friends! It is a nice 55F early morning with a high temp of 80 today and sunshine! Hurray! Thank you Roy @rafinmd for posting the fleet location maps each morning, and Rich @richwmn for the content of the Fleet Report and Daily. Today is a nice mix of days to recognize. DNA has made a huge difference in the world and we should learn as much as possible about the advances made in our lives with it. East Meets West Day refers to cooperation between countries at the end of WWII. And we all appreciate our long held hairstylists, or even a new one who listens well to our wants and needs. I agree with the quote, would try the meal suggestion, no thanks to the drink but would love the wine - a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. Didn't we just discuss SB wines yesterday? I think so. Anyway, thanks to all who work on the F&B reports. Debbie @dfish or Tina @0106, Paul @kochleffel, and Ann @cat shepard. Prayers were said for all before I tiptoed out of bed. Our group here who has had some improvement and good surgery results but also for those with troubling issues still to tackle like Chuck @catmando, and the need to cancel trips like Elizabeth @Haljo1935 and Terri @Cruzin Terri and Jim. Prayers for those affected by the recent school shooting. My sympathy to the family of the lost young man. Prayers also today for DB, twin Linda, great nephew Alex's baby boys, friends Scott, Susan and Sandy. Never forget the people of Israel and Ukraine struck down, the hostages held and our military men and women in the area. 🙏 Hurray for those with special events to celebrate today and our cruisers!🚢🥳 I hope all are enjoying their time at sea. Thank you Vanessa @JazzyV for continuing with the list keeping. I hope you are getting lots of rest and still enjoying the lack of pain and tingling. 🎉 The port today is familiar to most of us. Thira (Santorini), Greece. It was listed here before on Oct. 24, 2021, March 13, 2022, and Feb. 2, 2023. I have been a few times and will repost my photos. Here are the links to help you retrieve yours. Hoping you all experience a good day, and try to stay safe and keep well!
