This is from Carnival web site.  I called and they directed me to this as there official list.

This is absolutely correct, even though the poster failed to provide a link.  I am correcting that failure here:

*edit* click on "cancelled cruises" to view the information

  2. Surprised no one posted this other tidbit from Yesterday (April 7th), but i guess it was overshadowed by the Saudi Arabia announcement.  If nothing else, it means some big spenders still believe in Carnival.

"With the first insider buy at the company since mid-February, Carnival (NYSE:CCL) board member Randall Weisenburger yesterday picked up $10M worth of stock, buying 1.25M shares at $8 each.

He now owns north of 1.375M shares.

His purchase follows Saudi Arabia's disclosure of an 8.2% stake in the company.

Along with the move in the markets in general, and the cruise line sector in particular, Carnival is ahead another 20% today."

Could you tell me what exactly a Platinum status gets you?  I will be Platinum next cruise and I'm not sure all the perks that I will get.  I looked on the website, but it doesn't say anything like, you can go straight to your cabin and drop off carry-ons etc.  FTTF mean 1st to board and your room is ready, correct?  Basically, if I read the FTTF perks, is that the same as Platinum?

It is listed, they just word it as "Priority check-in and boarding"

  4. I just got back from sailing in cabin 8201 on Magic.  Here is my post on the Stateroom thread .

    Ship - Magic

    Deck - 8

    Stateroom # - 8201

    Stateroom Category – 8C Balcony

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes, last room before the Bridge, absolutely no foot traffic outside.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – View directly forward is blocked by the bridge extension, but it was not an issue at all.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - Cabin was slightly warmer than we would like during the day.

Any other comments? - Bring a small fan if you prefer a cooler room.

  6. The fact is (and this comes up in many of the "cutback" threads) that the price of a cruise has not really increased much over the years.  I looked back at several standard balcony cruises we took over 10 years ago, and the price per person per day is about the same as our upcoming cruise this year.  It is no surprise to me that the pats of individually wrapped butter we had in 2002 have been replaced with a substitute.  I know i am in a minority, but i would prefer we had the same service standards as 15 years ago with an adjusted higher price.

Did this work because I was told it HAD to be a fax?

Yes I have a cruise in November, emailed my stockbroker statement on 10/14 and had a response showing the shareholder OBC was credited today 10/16.

There is no reason to bother with a fax.

  8. Not trying to start another tipping thread...but this is a serious question.  We have done "pay as you go" for 18 years, but might try Cheers for the first time later this year.

We usually tip above the 15% already added to the bill, $1 or $2 per drink, depending on service.  {Off topic, but YES this can lead to future drinks from the same bartender/server being exceptionally strong}.

For those who have used Cheers, is the "standard" 15% already included?  If not (or even if so), do you add additional?

    Thanks!
