The new convenient pricing structure will feature inclusion of port charges, taxes, services fees and onboard crew gratuities as part of the American Queen Voyages all-inclusive fares beginning Jan. 2, 2023. Travel agents will also earn commission on previously non-commissionable fees (NCFs) as an opportunity to increase earnings. “At American Queen Voyages, our ultimate goal is to deliver a cut-above experience for our guests before they even step foot aboard our vessels,” said Cindy D’Aoust, President of American Queen Voyages. “To do this, we are rolling out extra inclusions at one bundled price to create the overall best cost point and financial transparency for our highly-valued guests. After listening to feedback from our travel partners, we knew this new pricing structure was the best way to bundle port charges, taxes, service fees and gratuities into one advertised fare, while offering an increased commission opportunity to our valued cruise travel agents.” New All-Inclusive Fares Best for Guests The new all-inclusive fares are structured to offer guests an added convenience of bundling incremental travel costs, offering a complete view of the total cruise package price without hidden fare surprises. With nearly everything included in one bundled price, the only additional expenses for AQV guests, while on board, will be optional premium shore excursions, top-shelf alcoholic beverages, spa treatments, and boutique purchases. The line has additional plans to continue to elevate services to deliver deeper discoveries and experiences for travelers including enhancements to AQV’s signature American Duchess vessel planned for next year. New All-Inclusive Fares Enhanced for Travel Agents With the ultimate goal to deliver a cut-above experience for each guest before they set sail, the American Queen Voyages team created the bundled pricing structure after learning from travel partners that customers want a convenient all-in-one price package for their trip. As many of the fees now offered in bundled pricing often fall into the category of NCFs for travel agents, the revised fare structure will allow for enhanced commissions and earning potential. 20. New American Queen Voyages™ President Sails into Q4 with A Strategic Vision Industry Veteran, Cindy D’Aoust, Shares Immediate Priorities to Elevate the Company and Brand Fort Lauderdale, FL – Nov. 10, 2022 – Cindy D’Aoust, the newly-appointed President of American Queen Voyages (AQV), part of the Hornblower® Group, is leaning into four decades of travel industry experience as she begins her tenure at the helm of the beloved U.S.-based cruise line. With a holistic leadership style, D’Aoust’s immediate priorities are to build upon the strong foundation of AQV with a focus on people, prestige and ports. “American Queen Voyages is an established, storied cruise line and brand known for exemplary service and experiences,” said Cindy D’Aoust, President of American Queen Voyages. “The opportunity moving forward is to further strengthen the reputation and relationships to continue on a growth trajectory. Working with the talented teams at AQV and Hornblower Group, I am confident in the leadership strategy that will help to make American Queen Voyages the top American-based cruise line of choice.” People: Focusing on Relationships Building meaningful relationships with travel agents, guests and employees has always been a priority for D’Aoust. She attributes her past success to learning and listening to these key audiences. “One thing I have learned during my time in travel is the importance of the travel advisor,” said D’Aoust. “Travel professionals are the essential resource for our guests to discover the perfect itinerary and vessel, and at American Queen Voyages it will always be my priority to listen to our travel agent network and build strong, lasting relationships with our cruise travel partners.” With a passion for delivering an exceptional guest experience, D’Aoust is also placing a greater emphasis on guest feedback in order to create an unmatched adventure on the water. In the immediate future, the company plans to work with travel partners to take a deeper dive into guest preferences and strategically plan accordingly for future sailings. American Queen Voyages would not be the cruise line of choice for travel agents and guests if it weren’t for the extraordinary work of the crew and staff. “The hospitable culture at American Queen Voyages is already exceptional and I plan to be a resource for our crew and staff to ensure their suggestions are heard so we can continue to offer elevated service aboard our vessels,” said D’Aoust. Prestige: Elevating the Brand Reputation Working in the cruise industry, D’Aoust learned first-hand about the immense value of a strong, positive image and reputation. Her goal at American Queen Voyages includes elevating the company’s image through a series of luxury-level upgrades to service, product enhancements and exclusive itinerary offerings. Today, D’Aoust announced upgrade enhancements planned for AQV’s American Duchess vessel. A purposely-built boutique paddlewheeler holding only 166 guests debuting in 2017, American Duchess will become a symbol of prestige on America’s rivers. The upgrades will honor the American Duchess’ history, incorporating elevated onboard services and a dedicated shore enrichment program specific to the vessel, along with re-imagined itineraries. Built from an existing hull of a retired casino boat, the American Duchess has deep ties to the Mighty Mississippi and will be ready to set sail for the 2024 season with additional enhancements and updates announced over the coming months.   With a nod to the priority on increased communication, the American Queen Voyages leadership team is assembling an American Duchess-specific advising task force of travel partners, agents, and hospitality industry experts to prioritize feedback in order to deliver an immersive, dynamic experience for every guest. These upgrades are part of a larger strategy to further enhance the American Queen Voyages travel experiences. The American Duchess will sail the first half of 2023 before her extended layup begins in June 2023. Ports: Economic Impact of America’s Ports The economic impact for each port visited by American Queen Voyages sailings is an average of $135 per person, per day. Guests and crew disembark at destinations and spend money in local stores, pharmacies, restaurants, bars and more. American Queen Voyages brings this economic influx to a variety of less-traveled destinations along America’s waterways. D’Aoust plans to identify new and exciting additions and extensions to AQV’s cruise itineraries which will bring additional revenue to new port locations while also offering guests new, unique experiences. “One of the amazing opportunities we have at AQV is to help our guests discover the beauty, history and people of America – both in major cities and smaller towns,” said D’Aoust. “Our strategy will incorporate thoughtful and deliberate ways to bring a positive economic impact to the American ports American Queen Voyages serves.” Prior to becoming American Queen Voyages President, D’Aoust served as President of Hospitality for Cape Resorts Management Company and Global President & CEO of Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA). 21. American Queen Voyages™ Partners with the National Museum of the Great Lakes to Introduce Lakelorian for the 2023 Season Toledo, OH – Sept. 22, 2022 – American Queen Voyages™, part of the Hornblower® Group, is partnering with the National Museum of the Great Lakes to create a new Lakelorian program for the Lakes & Oceans fleet. Kicking off the 2023 Great Lakes season in Toronto in May, Ocean Voyager™ and Ocean Navigator™ will each include a permanent lecturer on each sailing, holding the title of Lakelorian, similar to the Riverlorian onboard each American Queen Voyages paddlewheeler. The Lakelorian will lead lectures, host discussions and answer questions throughout the journey across these mighty bodies of freshwater. With equal parts knowledge and passion for the Great Lakes, Lakelorians will be selected and provide exclusive programming in collaboration with the renowned National Museum of the Great Lakes in Toledo, OH. “Our partnership with American Queen Voyages began taking shape in 2020 with their extraordinary support of Great Lakes history through an 11-day Great Lakes cruise donation which we used as the grand prize for our Luck of the Lakes Raffle,” shares Kate Fineske, senior director of institutional advancement, National Museum of the Great Lakes. “Since then, we have come to recognize American Queen Voyages Lakes & Oceans ships as floating ambassadors of the Great Lakes, bringing thousands of visitors from around the world to deeply discover our region’s rich history. We look forward to Ocean Voyager and Ocean Navigator becoming an extension of the National Museum of the Great Lakes through this innovative Lakelorian program, and welcoming guests to discover our museum and all we have to offer.” Just as the rivers of America are a great source of history and culture, the Great Lakes hold a treasure trove of information worthy of a dedicated lecturer. The Lakelorian will share and enlighten guests on the uniqueness of each port in the Great Lakes and be a welcomed storyteller of the region, versed in its history and the support of The National Museum of the Great Lakes for expertise. The Lakelorian will hold daily Lake Chats in the Tavern or Compass Lounge to provide information about the town or city in which American Queen Voyages is visiting for the day. In addition to the daily lectures, each sailing will feature an exclusive lecture highlighting a current exhibit at The National Museum of the Great Lakes. “The 2022 Lakes & Oceans season has been an incredible success showcasing what makes exploring the Great Lakes onboard Ocean Voyager and Ocean Navigator such an extraordinary experience ,” said Bill Annand, vice president of Vessel Operations Lakes & Oceans for American Queen Voyages and a proud lifelong Michigander himself. “From exclusively docking in downtown Chicago at Navy Pier to maiden arrivals in smaller ports like Green Bay and Sturgeon Bay, guests aboard these vessels witness what makes the Great Lakes so special. The National Museum of the Great Lakes has been an invaluable resource. We are excited to support the museum in Toledo on Sept. 24 at their H2Oh! Gala providing this year’s winner of another Great Lakes Cruise and to continue to grow our partnership through our Lakelorian program. The National Museum of the Great Lakes reveals the varied and fascinating history of our treasured Great Lakes, which make up 84% of all of the freshwater in North America. Guests can join these sailings to explore the history of the world's greatest natural resource—from canoes and schooners to early steamers and freighters—some of which ply the mighty Maumee River right next to the Museum.” Ocean Voyager and Ocean Navigator hold only 202 guests, delivering immersive Lakes & Oceans experiences in North America sailing the Great Lakes, Canada and New England. American Queen Voyages Great Lakes voyages of 11- to 16-days call on North America’s historic five Great Lakes and the storied St. Lawrence River. Port highlights include exploring the Victorian-era charm of Mackinac Island, historic Soo Locks, breathtaking Manitoulin Island, the largest freshwater island in the world, the world-famous Horseshoe Falls of Niagara Falls, the Henry Ford Museum in Detroit and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. All cruises include a pre-cruise hotel night and in Chicago offer an optional of the iconic architecture tour from the water. In addition, guests sailing on the fall Great Lakes itineraries will enjoy overnight excursions in several city ports for the first-time including Toronto, Quebec City and Mackinac Island on American Queen Voyages.
