  1. 3 Alaska B2B2B next month on the Splendor for not even 7 C-notes all-in 3 cruises, and that includes those hefty Alaska port charges/tourist tax/fees of $255 per cruise PLUS $100 obc each cruise + No single supplement!
  2. Sooner or later the cruiselines will wise up to this and will not allow passengers to check in unless ALL the passengers in the cabin/booking are present. If one arrives early and the other is arriving "late" they will tell you, "Sorry, can't check in unless your entire party is here". Just saying.
  3. Thank you guys for being just like the weatherman, always reporting good and favorable news!!!!😄😄😄 But seriously, thanks so much.
  4. Straight from the horse's mouth: Onboard Service Updates: Securing working visas for the crew is currently a challenge for the entire cruise industry. It’s unfortunately impacting our staffing levels, particularly for Carnival’s culinary and beverage teams. We’ve made some temporary adjustments to our onboard offerings for sailings through July 31st, mostly around hours of operation and special events. This will help us provide guests with the best possible service. When you’re sailing, check the Carnival HUB App to see exactly what’s available. Anyone very recently on the Splendor know if Masala Tiger is open for lunch daily? It used to be called Tandoor in another life. I used to enjoy an Indian lunch there daily and am looking forward to 3 weeks on the Splendor starting 8/2 enjoying what is arguably the best cuisine on the planet! I hope it will be open. ANYONE WITH FIRST-HAND KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT THE STATUS OF THIS WONDERFUL EATERY IS? Thanks in advance.
  5. Thank you, Joe. So, are you going to take your Mrs.....do it if you can Joe, especially if it is an itinerary you both like....I know you said you both would like to do the train ride. I tell you, I had this trip on my back burner for years .... finally everything fell in place .... you know travelling by yourself you get hit with that single supplement so it was a relief to get that waived. It's a pleasure exchanging ideas with you, Joe.
  6. The Alaska B2B2B on the Splendor that I booked over the weekend I submitted my request this morning and Voila! within 20 minutes all 3 cruises showed the shareholder benefit as having been applied, so does the booking summary page of each cruise. I think this was the quickest ever it was done from my 70 odd cruises.
  7. Joe, if it helps, here is how I managed to put this together: I have been diligently checking my VIFP offers from Carnival daily....ever since April. It is a pain to go through each offer to see what my actual cost is on any given offer but finally on Friday, I managed to find an offer, I think it was called "Exclusive VIFP Offer" or something like that, after I chose Seattle and the Splendor, a bunch of rates opened up, some with promotional obc and some without. I immediately booked b2b2b and it allowed me to put them on hold.....I went to the Amtrak website, the price there never changes although they do practice dynamic pricing as the trains fill up, their prices go up. I am a senior and usual is what I paid which is $101 each way. Then I hit the various travel websites, found rave reviews for the Green Tortoise Hostel in downtown Seattle and found the cheapest rate on the hostel's own website, $37 single person plus tax, breakfast included and booked that one night pre and post cruise. One of those things that after trying day in day out for the last 3 months, I managed to make it work. If you wanna give it a shot, I hope you find the above info useful. Thanks again.
  8. I am combining the cruises with Amtrak's Coast Starlight return train ride.....it is one of the most scenic train rides in the country.....LA to Seattle. It was not bad $101 each way for a direct 35 hour train ride. I have always wanted to do that ride. And I lucked out with finding hostel accommodation for pre and post cruise in downtown Seattle for $37 a night at the highly-rated/acclaimed Green Tortoise Hostel, breakfast included!
  9. I always like your comments on Cruise Critic. I am new.....have been lurking for years and years. Decided to pull the trigger and contribute. Long-time cruiser with scores of cruises done but new to all this social media stuff.
  10. So I checked out the Cruise Critic roll-calls for the Splendor for my upcoming B2B2B in August and with the exception of the 8/2 departure (with just 7 posts!), there are no roll-calls even started so close to the cruise departure dates? So I started 2 roll-calls for 8/9 and 8/16. I remember the days when Cruise Critic roll-calls used to have pages (not posts) numbering into the hundreds. What happened?
  11. Kona, if you are retired, don't book so far out.....I have been doing all my cruises last-minute. I would not commit that kind of money on a cruise that might end up costing only 10% of that sum by the time it is time to go. We all know that once you are out that money, it's gone. Book last, last, last minute, if you can. This year I have done 8x Mexican Riviera 7-day cruises (4 on Princess, 2 on Carnival & 2 on Royal Caribbean) and I have these 3x Alaska 7-day cruises coming up on Carnival Splendor next month. 11 cruises for a total of $1700 including port charges/taxes/fees. My first 9-day cruise back in the early 70s cost me TWICE as much as these 11 cruises.....although cruises were a totally different experience than they are today, and I mean TOTALLY different!
  12. I know what you mean ..... it is annoying to do a mock booking with every online offer to see what your actual price is within that same offer...let alone try on 9-12 different "promotions" at the same time, most of which are hogwash. But once in a while! YAY! I do not recall there were any 3 digit codes in any of my offers.
  13. Thank you Ferry Watcher, fantastic info. Much like there is an APP for everything, it seems the same can be said for YouTube. Thoroughly enjoyed that short video.
  14. Thank you so much Gardyloo, that is fantastic info. Now I am even more determined to hoof it.
  15. Thank you much guys for your answers, I appreciate the courtesy. 3 miles as long as it is flat terrain I am pretty sure I can handle that. Thanks again guys, I got the answers I was after.
  16. Just booked 3 cruises b2b2b on the Splendor out of Seattle for next month: 8/2, 8/9 & 8/16. Single cruiser, no supplement, all-in for all 3 cruises not even 7 C-notes after various obc's. Just the port charges average around $250 per cruise!!!! It's come to the point where Carnival is paying cruisers to go cruise with them now!!! I am Platinum for whatever that means but it was not a casino offer, it was one of the "Exclsuive VIFP" bait but it sure pays to check your offers, guys. For those who live in Seattle or those who are familiar with downtown Seattle: 1) From King Street Station to Pike Place Market area is it an easy/safe walk around 9-10pm? 2) From Pike Place Market to Pier 91 it seems to be an easy 1 mile walk along Alaskan Way. Am I correct? Just me and myself, so-so able-bodied 59-year young guy with only 1 wheeled carry-on bag and plenty of time on my hands in Seattle. Downtown Seattle seems like a city conducive to walking but not quite sure about hills, ala San Francisco that may hamper my ability to get around. Flat terrain & downhill, I am all good.....uphill, well............! lol Thanks for any replies from people with first-hand knowledge.
