  1. Im not high maintenance here either. I even make my own bed of a morning  and keep my cabin as tidy and clean as I possibly can. I reuse towels at least once.

I still want twice a day service offered though with me having a chance to decline on a daily basis if Im paying full gratuities. Its just one of those things that make a cruise a little more special and stand out over land based vacations in hotels or resorts.

I completely agree with you! While I do not make my bed, we do keep our room neat and as uncluttered as I can.

Even so, I am on a Cruise and I am paying gratuities - of which the total keeps going up. And yet, Carnival wants to reduce the services I am paying for? If I wanted a low maintenance vacation I would go camping.

I am not a prima donna, but I absolutely do not agree with this newest policy. It was bad enough when they cut back on the wait staff while increasing the number of tables they service. Dinners in the dining room take longer, dishes sit longer between courses, and we have been served cold food more often because they can't get to all the tables they have to take care of.

What is next? Launder my own towels? Clean my bathroom? Empty my trash? I can do all of that at home.

  2. We loved our Cove on the Dream last month! Even so, it did have some drawbacks that may be an issue for some people.

The balcony area did tend to have a lot of salt spray. Just wipe off the chairs a bit and you are fine. However, there was the occasional wetness on the balcony floor, so if you go out barefoot you are fine. If you go out in socks like my DH, then you will have squishy feet when you go back inside! :p

We had cabin 2330 and it was quiet as can be. No noise from above, and it was great to be able to step out and not only see the ocean but to hear the waves as the ship was sailing.

The balcony was a bit smaller IMO than regular balconies, but not much. The view made up for it however. We had two chairs and a small square table on our balcony.

I would definitely book another Cove balcony in the future!

  3. On the Dream a few weeks ago. My cabin steward had a clipboard and went to his room and asked if we wanted morning, evening or both. Also asked about ice and bathrobes.

I chose morning cleaning and evening turn-down. He told us that the service as requested would start on the second night.

He did a great job, and kept everything in order. I am happy that it all worked out, but I just do not understand why Carnival even has this in place. I am on a cruise, and I have paid for the privilege of the cruise and all it entails. I am not staying at the Dew Drop Inn. Why is Carnival cutting so many things back?

  4. I stand corrected was just advised that the cruise critic meet did take place last sea day at 3pm. No invitations sent just a mention in the fun times. Sorry I missed it but only 6 people showed up

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Just off the Dream a couple of weeks ago. Our CC Meet and Greet was also scheduled the last sea day. I prefer these to be at the start of my cruise, not at the end when my cruise is about over.

Do not think I will sign up for any more of these CC M&Gs. My suggestion to my Roll Call will be to do it ourselves at the start of the week.

  5. Just completed our cruise on the Dream (9/25 - 10/2). We all signed up for the Meet and Greet here on Cruise Critic.

Invitations were not received, but there was a listing in the daily FunTimes. However, and this is a BIG HOWEVER.....the party was not scheduled until the last sea day. By then, the cruise was practically over. A very small handful of people attended. Those of us who did attend felt like the crew wasted their time putting the M&G together.

Wouldn't the start of the cruise be a better time to schedule something like this? I think for future Roll Calls I will suggest that we just put our own M&G together ourselves, and make it earlier in the cruise.

  6. Wow. We love the Magic. Been on it 4 times. Was sad to see it leave Texas... and hoping Breeze is just as good.

I believe that you will Love the Breeze! I know that I did :D

Booked our Family cruise on the Magic July 2017. Looking forward to it as just about everything I have read has been great.

I'll take care of the Magic for you, and you enjoy your time on the Breeze!

    Happy Sailing!

  7. I always reserve the first night in the Steakhouse - just our favorite way to start our cruise. I know the first night fills up quickly. However, if you do not really have a day or time preference, then you can pretty much always make a reservation once on the ship.

However, if you have a large party then I would make a reservation no matter what day you are going!

  8. 24 more days till I sail on this ship!

We have the drink package too. As it includes alcoholic drinks, coffee and sodas - is there a limit as to how many drinks per day?

One more comment...last time we were in Alaska we sailed on Celebrity Mercury and went to Hubbard Glacier. It was the first week of July. I remember so much ice in the water when we sailed to the glacier, yet the phots of Tracy Arm show very little ice in the water. Is it that different?

  9. When I was in a CC cabin in 2007, we were able to order from the main dining room menu and eat in our cabin.

Is that what you are talking about as far as the upgraded room service menu? Is ordering from the MDR menu still available?

It sure was nice to sit out on our balcony and have dinner!

  10. Just came home last week after our second cruise on The Breeze. When we cruised back in October, Matt was the CD. He was just as awesome as everyone raves about.

I knew he would not be on the ship last week, so I was unsure about who the CD would actually be. Mike (not sure of his last name) was the CD, and while he was okay.....Orlando who is the assistant CD was awesome! I really hope this guy gets his own ship to run one day.

Mike was at the "big" events (past-guest party, atrium party and so on), but Orlando was everywhere. Have no idea when he ever slept!

Some folks say they could care less who the CD is, but IMO, they can definitely increase your fun. So if you are sailing the Breeze anytime soon, say hello to Orlando. You will not have to look far to find him!

  11. To each his own...which is why cruising is so great and why there is so much to choose from! :)

I was on the Breeze in October and somehow got picked to go up on stage! I didn't jump up and down, but I guessed and shouted out the answer the quickest so they chose me. I am not usually one to call attention to myself, so all I can say is the wine at dinner may have contributed to my exuberance! LOL

It was fun, and my family and friends had a blast just watching me play the game. My team did not win, but I got a very nice parting gift and spent an enjoyable 40 minutes participating in the game.

Would I do it again? Why, I do believe that I would! :p

  12. I wasn't really all that happy about banning us from bringing on our own water, since we prefer Deer Park spring water to filtered water, but at least it was almost reasonably priced (almost).

But now, almost $8 a case for filtered water? Really?

I'm sorry we invited friends who've only sailed on Royal before to come on our next cruise. I'm just not happy with some of the choices Carnival is making lately. And the American Table menus look disgusting.

This just might be our last Carnival cruise.

    Wow...

Have you even tried the American Table menu selections? I have, and they are delicious! More choices, different choices, and I hope it is here to stay.

Disgusting? That is your opinion...again all I can say regarding your post is Wow....

  13. Perhaps it depends on the ship or the hostess? Last October we were on the Breeze and went to the Steakhouse with about 14 in our group. We all opted to do the 50% off our choice of wine instead of the free bottle.

I guess because we bought our wine, we were each able to choose what we wanted per each couple. Although at first we wanted a choice between red and white, so they were going to bring us 6 bottles for our table (one couple does not drink)....but when they told us about the 50% option, we took that.

So we had great food AND great wine! It was a good night had by all :D

  14. Make my own bed, pick up my own towels...probably won't be long before I have to vacuum my cabin too! LOL

On my last cruise, my steward told me that he and his team of two others have twice the number of cabins to service each day. I guess that is why they are only coming around once a day now.

So far I have had ice in my cabin but I wonder if that will stop and I will have to schlep my bucket up to Lido to get ice.

Come on Carnival....really? I love this cruise line but really?

  15. Felipe is awesome and I believe if you can find a moment or two to introduce yourself, he will stop and speak with you. I have sailed with him 3 times, and he is one of the most involved CDs I have sailed with. When a CD remembers you and your name from a prior cruise, that is a huge plus in my book - especially considering I am one of thousands who sail with him.

Let me put it another way....Felipe impressed me more the first time that I sailed with him than the first time I sailed with Matt who is transferring to the coveted CD position on the Vista.

Don't worry too much about this as I believe you will have an awesome time with Felipe.

  16. Ryan - what a great review! Love the way you describe the little details as well as the big picture!

I agree that this ship is awesome. I sailed on the Breeze in October, and it was my 37th cruise. It was also one of my top favorite cruises! In fact, we are sailing again in March because I had to go back on the Breeze again before she is transferred to Galveston.

One of the places you said you didn't get to was Bonsai Sushi. OMG! That place was amazing. Sushi was yummy, service was excellent, and they had the best Miso Soup I have ever eaten. If you get a chance to try them next time, do it!

Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to write your review!
