  1. My group went on Seavis a couple of years ago, and we had a blast. I will say, that even though they say it is kid-friendly, it may not be the best for small children. Like the OP said, the beach area where you stop for lunch is rocky and the surf can be rough. The speedboat part can be scary, and the sandbar may be over their heads.

But....if you are a group of adults (there were 30+ in our group - 2 boats worth), then it can be a very fun excursion.

Governor's Beach sounds like a lot of fun. I may look at doing this when we go their on the Breeze in October.

  2. Read the new beverage and liquor policy, it will help you understand limits and what is allowed.

Yes, you can bring a cup, mug, or plastic bottle as you described on the ship. We usually bring a tervis style cup as the drink cups on the ship are small and you need two to get through a meal or a snack.

The water is a good deal if you prefer bottled water. The soda is a bit pricey, about $10 for a 6 or 8 pack (cans), but it is better than lugging it on to the ship.

As far as the rest of the stuff you can buy - that is a personal choice. Is it worth it? Only you can answer that. Overpriced? Probably, but if you want it, then that will not matter.

    Enjoy your cruise!

  3. We had the chocolate funship one time as part of a cabin gift, and I have to say the chocolate was quite good! Now, whenever we cruise with the grandkids we order one for our room.

My advice is this...rather than saving it and having it melt or break, just make memories and eat the ship! Take pictures while you are doing it. Have everyone tell a memory of the day and then take a bite - but only one! Have to wait until the next day to tell another story and take another bite.

It is a fun way to laugh together, and we all look forward to our chocolate bite of the day! We usually do it before dinner each evening as my grown kids and my grandkids always seem to migrate to my room before dinner. The kids think it is a treat to eat candy before dinner, and the grown kids always have the best stories to share.

    It is our new tradition!

  4. The complimentary bottle of wine is only if you eat in The Steakhouse on the first night of your cruise.

I am not a big steak eater myself, but they do have other entrees to choose from...the chicken is awesome, as well as the lobster ravioli. For something he may be more familiar with, they always have a fresh catch seafood entrée.

I have eaten in The Steakhouse several times, and every time it is a great experience. IMO, it is definitely worth the upcharge. Just think of it as an excursion while on the ship if you need to justify the cost. It is worth it to try at least once.

One piece of advice...the portions are large, and between the appetizer, the salad and bread, the entrée and the dessert you will be stuffed. Eat light the day you are going to better enjoy your dinner experience!

  5. This was a great review! Thanks for taking the time to post your thoughts and observations...and some really awesome pictures!

We are sailing on the Breeze in October - still have a ways to go. I have been on 35 cruises, and I still get excited when I cruise. For some reason, this ship has my excitement level kicked up a notch! I think it is because of the amount of people who have sailed on this ship over and over, or who just keep saying how they would love to go back on this ship again.

Thanks again for your review. You did a fantastic job!

  6. I am booked for next year, but this sounds like something I definitely want to jump on as soon as it opens up.

Any idea on how far out Celebrity starts listing shore excursions for their cruises? I mean if they can book my cruise this far out, do they already have a list ready for me to look at?

I checked online for my booking but do not see any excursions listed yet....:(

  7. The Sensation is a great ship to go out for a nice relaxing short cruise! You will see all sorts on this ship, and the most first timers ever! Blue cards everywhere...LOL

You will have the families with kids, and you will have the couples cruising together. You will see Bachelor and Bachelorette groups out for one last hurrah, and groups in their 20's cruising together.

The weekend cruises have been called "Booze Cruise" because they are short and some folks squeeze every minute they can out of the time they have on the cruise. Don't let that worry you. In all of my quickie cruises we have never had any group "ruin" our cruise by being too loud and having fun. They do their thing, we do ours - and everyone has a good time.

As far as the dining goes, I believe that they do have one Elegant night, and lobster and shrimp are usually available. Regarding your question about the dress code, you will see guys in suits, a few tuxedoes, but mostly a nice pair of pants with a button down shirt. Some with a tie, but some without. For the ladies, you will see it all as well...very fancy dresses to nice dresses, to capri pants with a fancy top.

It is a short cruise, so the want to dress up is not as wide spread as it is on longer cruiises. Generally they will allow people in with shorts, but no ball caps or tank tops are allowed in for the most part.

Nassau is an okay port. Most of the time we stay on the ship and just relax. If you get off, it can be a bit of a walk to the entry way to get to downtown, it all depends on where your ship is docked (first berth or the last one). You can always take a taxi to Atlantis, walk a bit downtown, or just head to a beach. The water in the Bahamas is such a beautiful blue, and the beaches are pretty clean.

Hope all of this helps! Enjoy your cruise and enjoy the Sensation!

    Hope this helps!

  8. So how exactly do you get these pins? Just curious. I collect Hard Rock Cafe pins from the cities we travel to, so I would love to be able to start collecting cruise ship pins. Do you buy them at the gift shop, or do you earn them?

As a Platinum member, we get a pin with the ship name and year. I believe that some ships have different ship pins for sale in the gift shops.

  9. Booked on the Solstice for next year to Alaska. Only one other Celebrity cruise before this, and it was on the Mercury in 2007, also to Alaska.

I am excited to return to Celebrity! Reading the posts makes it even more so. Yes, my cruise is a long way off, but oh how much fun I will be having planning and reading and finding out all about this ship and Alaska!

  10. I am starting to gather a nice collection of ship pins from all of my cruises (lucky me, I know)

So far, they are stitting in a box in a drawer. I would love some ideas on displaying the pins somehow, and thought some of you may have some suggestions on how to do this.

Perhaps a couple of shadow boxes would do the trick. Maybe a small picture of the ship, or at least the date of the cruise.

    Any other ideas?

  11. We have two of these already...they are great! We received them on one of our cruises last year. They pack well, hold lots of stuff too!

I believe these will be quite popular. I love the Tervis tumblers, both designs. I have a nice set at home.

  12. The part that aggravates me is that I have a PVP who I use and who does a great job. Yet when I go to the website and look around, check the price on my booking to see if it went down, look at shore excursions....I always get a call from a very enthusiastic person from Carnival who would do well to switch to decaf, if you know what I mean.

I always log in, and do not just go in. It would be nice if my log-in was tied somehow to my PVP. I would much rather get a call from her, than from some random salesperson who keeps pushing me even when I tell them I have a very dedicated PVP who takes good care of me.

  13. Going to miss the longer hours for lunch as this is when we normally grab a burger after coming back from a port.

True! I hate coming back from an excursion, couple of hours before dinner, and hardly any place to grab a bite. I know we can get pizza or something from the deli - but I usually look for something a bit more healthy. Not that the burgers from Guys are healthy (delish yes, but not too healthy). I would love to have a small station open to grab a salad or something to hold me over until dinner.
