I’ve booked tours through third parties such as get your guide. I know I can pay less by booking directly but you’ll most likely have to pay up front where as with a third party they will take your credit card info and not charge it until 24 hours before date of tour. I feel safer with that so if I cancel in advance I know I’ll get my money back no questions asked.
Will be in Reykjavik on Viking cruise on July 3, 2025. Ship will be in port over night on July 2 and depart 6 pm July 3. Planning our own private day tour on July 3. Either the Golden Circle or the South Coast. If you’ve done either or both what are the pros and cons of each and which might you have liked better.
Has anyone had to cancel a ships excursion that they prepaid for before departure? The website says you will get a refund if your cancellation is more than 24 hours before time of excursion. It also says that to refund will be applied to the onboard account in the shipboard currency.
Does this mean that even if it was paid for it with a credit card or check the refund will only be given as ship board credit?
We wanted to sign up for a couple of shore excursions”experiences” prior to our upcoming sailing date. We were told we couldn’t use our obc to cover the cost. So we have decided to wait until we are on board and then sign up. I assume they will then let us use our obc.
Has anybody had trouble getting the excursions they wanted when they tried to sign up after they boarded the ship?
Just read an old posting that stated that a fellow solo passenger was able to “negotiate” a single supplant of 150% on a Viking cruise. This was on a cruise that there was no solo traveler promotion. She had previously sailed with Viking and that cruise had a promotion for a 150% single supplement. So when booking the next cruise she asked for a discount and they provided one. Has anyone been able to negotiate a single supplement with Viking?
Any tips how your mother in law was able to negotiate the 150% single supplement on the second cruise? Has anyone else been able to negotiate a solo single supplement pricing?
Please post how the chromecast goes. Other cruisers said no place to plug it into. We’ll be in a junior suite which I think has a 2nd tv in sitting area that might work.
Will be sailing on Viking Mars next summer. Want availability to watch Netflix. Is there an accessible hdmi input on tv to connect a steaming device ie. Apple TV? Is the WiFi signal strong enough to do this and is there a power outlet near tv to plug in the Apple TV?
We oared scheduled on a Viking cruise to Iceland next summer that lists a disembark time in Reykjavik as 5 AM. How early and how quickly can you get off ship with your luggage in order to make a morning airline flight?
Thinking whether it’s worth purchasing the drink package. Looking at their website they show a sample drink menu and prices. They seem unreasonably cheap. Are they current prices?i.e. a martini is 7.50. Is that dollars? What do you remember as to present drink prices.
If you do have the drink practice does that prevent you from ordering a drink using your drink package for a companion in a different cabin who doesn’t have the package?
