Looking at the deck plans for this ship and I don't see any hot tubs marked despite seeing pools and hot tubs on the lido deck.. Does the Vibe on the Getaway have tubs? How does the deck overall compare to the other breakaway ships (I've been on the Encore and Escape).. Deck plans make it look considerably larger than both of those ships despite it being an overall smaller vessel.

Yes but you'll be paying for it unless your drink package covers it (Free at Sea will, but not everyone has this perk despite it being included in the fare)

Why in the world is this conversation still happening...

So anyway it sounds like the solution here is to call ncl or speak to guest services onboard and explain the situation and have the credit moved.

My studio room advice: Only book it if it is cheaper
macewank replied to Mississippian's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
With the introduction of Solo-traveler cabins outside of the Studio area, it's a no brainer to make sure you're getting the right deal for your situation. For me, unless the cost difference was relatively big, I'd still probably opt for the studios. I like having the lounge right there, and it being more quiet. That said, my clothes either go on hangers or stay in the suitcase, so the shelving concerns you mention weren't really relevant to me. There was plenty of shelving to hold "stuff" (that may not have been all that practical for clothes, i know) -
Well, if we're getting technical, it would be $70 ($59 + gratuity). If you untick the box for dining credits during checkout, it drops the price of the cruise fare. edit: by more than the gratuity I thought?
-
For dining everyone in the room has to have their own credits. In a non-solo situation, FAS doesn't give anything to the 2nd person for free, they have to buy the FAS to get the benefit. $11.80 sounds about right for gratuity. It's 20% of the "cost" and I think the FAS pegs the price around $50 (i.e. you'd save $50 if you uncheck it)

Vibe Pass available on board? (Escape)

Encore has a very big Vibe. 140ish passes. The Escape (and Bliss) are much smaller. -
Vibe Pass available on board? (Escape)
macewank replied to 3kids1dog's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
I was in the Escape last week and was one of the first groups to board (boarded at 9:50am). Went to Teppenyaki, Headliners, and finally Guest Services. Teppenyaki and Headliners were only doing dining reservations and GS didn't even look before saying "no", so... I'd guess you'll be out of luck. -
Norwegian Gem skipping Bermuda, arriving NYC 2 days early
macewank replied to ferretktf's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
What's interesting about the decision, though, is how infrequently they make it. Here's 2023's schedule. If it's crossed out, the stop was canceled: http://marops.bm/Documents/Shipping_schedules/2023 Cruise Ship Schedule.pdf -
Norwegian Gem skipping Bermuda, arriving NYC 2 days early

Yeah GSC and Bermuda are not the same at all. Pro tip for people thinking of sailing to Bermuda though: It's a Spring/Summer/Fall destination. If you book it in the winter months (Dec-Feb) you're probably not going to make it there. -

The issue with Bermuda is the super tight channel getting in+out of Dockyard. There is a ton of reef and a ship getting blown around in gale force winds will almost certainly struggle to avoid it. Sucks for the wedding party 😞 -
NCL Prima refuses to pay back missed port of call taxes.
macewank replied to Bruges's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
My assumption is that there is some behind the scenes stuff that determines whether or not the refund is issued. I've read that, a lot of times, NCL pays more for port fees than they charge back to the passengers. If they need to close that gap, they'll keep it to offset their losses. -
It's pretty complicated if you don't sail NCL a lot, so no harm no foul. The main gist of it is, the "gratuities" I think you're referring to being pre-paid are likely your daily service charges, which go to your stateroom steward and back of house folks. bar/restaurant staff don't get those. The bev and dining ones, they do.

Alaska in April is going to be cold windy and wet. Depending on what you want out of the cruise, that has its perks though.
