  1. We leave tomorrow and sail on Wed. So 2 days left until we are Alaska bound!!
  2. And now it's working again LOL It is going to be 11 very long days until I can finally get on the Volendam and head for Alaska!
  3. My husband and I have been trying to login for almost an hour now. And the app doesn't want to let me login either .... apparently my email, mariner number or password don't match their records. BUT I can login to the app my Android. Rather frustrating!
  4. I've been looking at a little usb charged one but if I can request one I'll do that. Save room in the suitcase 😊
  5. I was wondering if you can request a fan on HAL ships or if I need to bring a small one with me. We're going to Alaska next month and I sleep better with moving air in the room, and since we don't have a window that opens I'd like to have a fan. I've seen lots of vlogs that mention asking for one but that not all lines still do this. Does anyone know if I'll be able to do this on the Volendam?
  6. Good to know. Maybe this will go with their sister ship (Volendam). At least we'll be able to check it out and find our table even if we can't eat there.
  7. This conversation is pure gold! LOL Who knew I'd be getting pro tips on cruise ship nachos when I asked about lunch at the MDR on embarkation day 😁
  8. Can't wait! This will be where we head if the MDR isn't open for lunch 😁
  9. Can I ask which class of the fleet you're talking about? The MDR is on decks 4 and 5 on the Volendam, and I'm assuming her sister ship in the R class group (the smallest in the fleet).
  10. I'll try and remember to do a review. It's our first cruise so I'm really excited about having a nice quiet start to what I'm hoping is a new favorite way to vacation 😊
  11. I wonder why they don't show the taco bar on the deck plan. We will definitely be checking it out! Thanks for the table map but how do we find out what table we've been assigned? We booked a table for 2 at the first sitting. On our booking confirmation our dining status is U1Y (no clue what this means).
  12. I wish we had a taco bar on the Volendam that would our stop for sure! But they only have 9 decks and the only place to eat on the Lido (deck 8 ) besides the buffet is the Dive In and we might end up there for burgers or hot dogs if we can't eat at the MDR.
  13. Thanks! We don't need anything special. We're flying in really early that day and just want to avoid the crowds on the Lido until we're ready 🙂
  14. We're headed to Alaska on the Volendam next month (out of Vancouver), and I was wondering if the MDR will be open for lunch on embarkation day. I've read that some of the larger ships sometimes have it open for lunch but I can't find anything about the smaller ships in the fleet. We'll already be going there to check it out and see if we can find where our table is so I thought it might be nice to avoid the Lido crazy until we've been able to eat something and get into our stateroom to freshen up.
  15. Can anyone point me to the fix for the white screen on an iPhone? I fixed it on my Android but can't find a way to do it on my iPhone. It's updated, and I've restarted my phone, but nothing has changed. It was fine yesterday until the evening when we completed our check in online. I got all of our docs on my laptop but when I went to the app all I got was a white screen after it loaded (on both phones). Like I mentioned I did the clear on my Android and it's all good but can't find the ios fix anywhere.
  16. I did look before but everything I found was from last spring and just people asking the same questions. I was hoping there were some answers from people who have cruised this year/in the last 6 months. This is the link to the article I read on the website https://www.hollandamerica.com/blog/recent-articles/whats-new/holland-implements-mbark-verifly-easy-embarkation/
  17. I saw the blog on the website about how mBark and Verifly are supposed make the embarkation process faster and easier, but no info beyond that. The date on the blog article is March 2022 but since then both Canada and the US have gotten rid of the need for proof of vaccination. So my question is .. are these still in use and do they really make the check in process faster? And where do I find them to download? We're heading to Alaska on the Volendam in July, roundtrip from Vancouver.
  18. Yeah thanks for that! LOL Actually most of our troubles have been from Alberta and our own fires. But this time of year we always brace for what can come with the western and norwestern winds.
  19. I know it's too early to worry about July I was just wondering if it was messing with the air quality or views. I'm really just wanting to get an idea of what's going on on the coast as compared to here on the prairies. I'll have my inhaler with me and have no issues moving inside if the air quality is impacted at all. I'm really looking forward to the fresh, brisk, air from the mountains and far north!
  20. We are heading to Alaska in July (on the MS Volendam), out of Vancouver, and I was wondering if the smoke is affecting any of the cruises from that port. We live in Saskatchewan and the smoke from all the fires is making life hard for those of us with asthma (and other risks). I know this could all change before we head to Van but I'd love to know how things are these days on the coast, and up into Alaska.
