I have to agree with this. It was not good. On Joy last September they could only do the first night, and then covid hit an actor(s) and they cancelled the second night. People were so disappointed, but I told them they didn't miss a thing.
Footloose is definitely a main show that needed to be replaced.
... and a bottle of sparkling wine. The bathroom and slightly more living space is the main attraction for us. Also, there are a bunch of non-connecting rooms (at least on deck 10).
We're gold and have never see one (even on someone else). I don't know how big they are, but if they're smallish, I can always use a new tie tack. A pic would be nice.
We'll probably ask for them on our next cruise -- to collect, not to wear.
The only reason we haven't tried aft (or forward) is the distance to walk. We walk enough on a cruise. With midship, you go left or right and you're at the stairs/elevators nearer your destination.
It's a long way from an aft cabin to Maltings Whiskey Bar on Encore. 😎
For us non-Haven, non-YC peons, does MSC still match tier levels with NCL? We'll be Platinum next April, and that would be an incentive for us to give MSC a try.
Still trying to figure out why anyone would get a burger on a cruise ship, when there are 1000 other things to try.
But then, I'm a hotdog guy, so there you go...
It was refurbished in 2020, so I'm going to say yes.
Even an avid NCL cheerleader will tell you that the pools suck on their ships. That is nothing new.
If covered pools (or pools in general), are your thing, then it's no surprise you don't like NCL.
I think elevator noises are an overblown issue -- certainly on the newer ships that have no public areas on the deck.
A far more important concern is the venue below or above you. We made the mistake of deck 9 on Joy right above the Cavern Club. I love the Beatles, but damn, a person can take only so much... 😆
That is interesting. Nothing on Spirit's calendar after April, 2024, which coincides with the 20% FCC. But yes, one has to assume it's coming from and going to somewhere. I, for one, can't wait to see where it ends up. I really want to cruise on that ship.
I'm perfectly aware of how accounting works, thanks. My point is that a $100 million refurbishment would be highly unusual for a ship you plan to retire in 2-years. Will it be more attractive to a buyer? Of course. Will it be the depreciated value of $100 million more attractive? Unlikely.
In my very, very humble opinion, Spirit isn't being retired or sold any time soon. It's simply looking for a home.
We just booked the 2/8/2025 cruise last week and got the cancellation email today.
The Spirit was severely overpriced compared to Princess for the same date. We booked it anyway assuming the price would drop.
I have to assume they will replace Spirit with another ship, hopefully cheaper, which (along with the 10% FCC) should save us a bunch of money. I find it hard to believe NCL is completely abandoning Aus/NZ.
They did, and they have. 20% FCC for any Spirit cruise between now and April 2024 or 10% FCC on any future cruise until Dec. 2025.
Looks like my booking on a whim last week may pay some dividends.
Bliss -- 2 hot tubs and pool
Breakaway-- 2 hot tubs and pool

Getaway -- 2 hot tubs and pool

Spirit -- 2 hot tubs and pool
Star -- sundeck only
I've read this 6 times now and I'm still struggling to decipher what you mean. I agree the go carts are ridiculous. Many NCL ships do have an adult only area called SpiceH2O. Some of them are 3 levels and quite large. I have no idea what the NY reference is all about.
Now, if RCCL could just keep the kids out of the Solarium, I'd be a happier cruiser.
I would certainly never consider it on a "normal" cruise without permission. I was specifically quoting the guy on the NCL Hawaii cruise -- American flagged, no foreign ports, no passport needed, etc.
I stand corrected. It is no longer available on the NCL website, nor are the late 2024 sailings. It is still showing on CruisePl*m.
This is a copy/paste from my confirmation email:
