  1. Just got one back form the Vet. They have their $250.00 charge but didn't give me any information regarding Service Dog and those fees if any.
  2. I also sent out an email to both the address on the form and the Vet in T&C. I have not gotten a response yet.
  3. I was thinking the same thing, why I didn't learn more French in school. I like the idea of 100 solo cabins. I would love to know more about how a bad French speaking passenger would get along.
  4. You may try using one of the two agencies that expedite paperwork. You can Google them. It’s gonna be $90 to get this done. The one I used him short period of time. Emailed it to him on a Friday and we had the paperwork back on Tuesday. It was all done by email.
  5. I love what Disney had done on the wish. It the set up on any of their other ships? I would like to see a gate at the entrance and maybe a bit more screening. I would like to let my SD off her lead so she can go on her own and have a bit a privacy. I found female dog like a bit more privacy when they go.
  6. I was just on a 15 day HAL MS Rotterdam Transatlantic cruise. They have great relief are for the service dogs that were on the sailing. The safe was great. I a short time the safe was call my service dog by her name and would great both of us. We even had the captain and his wife seat down next to us a lunch and ask who things were going. The cruise line still need to learn more. I think its up to use to teach them.
  7. I was on the MS Rotterdam in October - Amsterdam - Fort Lauderdale. This was the relief boxes they set up on Deck 4 forward. It was in a project part of the Promenade Deck but it was near some equipment rooms that did have some noise at this location.
  8. Looking for a Travel Agent in the DC & or Baltimore area that has experience with people traveling with a service dog.
  9. The big take-a-way from this last cruise was the fact that the Head of Guest Relations on HAL MS Rotterdam handled all the paper work to the port for clearance of our service dog to leave the ship for the duration of the port call.
  10. The MS Rotterdam sail I was on gave me a 11:40am boarding time I think because of having a service dog. We I arrived in front of the Amsterdam Cruise Terminal someone from HAL came out got me a person to take my bags and took me directly up stairs to the Special Assistance Desk as soon as I finished checking in I taken directly on board the ship. This was my first sailing with HAL. This cruise got me up to 2 stars and only a few more point to get to 3 stars.
  11. My big wish is that USDA comes out with a USA Animal Passport like the EU, UK and some other countries do. I think it would make our life easier and the USDA life easier. I will be speaking with my Senators and Congressman soon about this. I am going to make copies of the EU Pet Passport and post it. I think every dog in the USA should have one. Talking the the VET in Amsterdam, I understand why they have them. If we had one then it could get excepted around the world.
  12. BTW my SD's Vet required all paper work got through them. They sent the paper work electronically and sent it back next day service after it was reviewed and endorsed by USDA. Check with your local vet to see how they handle the paper work.
  13. HAL cancelled all shore excursions on the Oct 23rd Panama Canal because of all the unrest right now in Panama. You may also not make if off the ship in Panama. Keep an eye out about what is going on in that country.
  14. When we got off the cruise ship in Fort Lauderdale they didn't even ask me for any health certificates. They only want to make sure it only had dog food in my luggage not human food. I think the cruise line sent all the health info for each dog that was on board to port before we got there. We had four dog on the my transatlantic sailing. Who are you sailing with?
  15. I just got off a 15 day transatlantic cruise from Amsterdam to Fort Lauderdale. I flew from Dulles International (Washington DC) to Copenhagen and changed plan after clearing customs to Amsterdam. I had my paper work for the EU but was not asked for it when I arrived in either Copenhagen or Amsterdam. I went to the vest in Amsterdam to get the Tape Worm treatment for the UK. The vet in Amsterdam did issue me a EU Pet Passport for my SD. Wear I need the paper work is when I got on the ship. I sat down with Guest Services and gave them all the paper work. The sent the paper work off to there port agent. We had to go through one inspection in Brest France. They look at the EU Pet Passport and scanned my SD for the chip and compared it to the one in the EU Pet Passport. I fell most laws are written for someone flying in the country and staying for a period of time. They are not really written for someone who is traveling by cruise ship that may we in port for no more that 24 hours. I cruise lines special needs people do not know the rules. This is one down fall of the cruise lines, they do need someone on staff can find out the hard questions. This is like what you are facing with dates that are designed for someone who is flying into that country, not making a port call by cruise ship. Some of these countries are just looking for the pet permit fee. I have learned alot about cruising with a service dog from this last cruise I just returned from. Other people I have talked with have told me that you may need to visit a vet at a port call before you get to the port that requires a Tape Worm treatment with in a these special time period. If the country is part of or had been part of the UK Commonwealth, they probably have the same rules as the UK. My SD was not trained by ADI. I provide a complete list of training along with here certification from AKC and the PAT exam the training organization I use did and the UK was completely satisfied.
  16. I just few both SAS from home to Amsterdam and Delta from Fort Lauderdale to home. I didn't have any problem with SAS with the extra bag was Service Dog Supplies. I didn't at first with Delta in Fort Lauderdale. The agent wanted to charge me at first for the 3rd bag. I told him it had always been freed for the service dog supplies. He told me to tag the bag as medical supplies in the future and there would be no problem. He told me they don't have a category for service dog supplies but he was told to list the bad as medical supplies and that would take care of it.
  17. We just got off the October 7th transatlantic sailing of the MS Rotterdam, Amsterdam to Fort Lauderdale. The cruise was great and that staff was also. This is the dog re-leaf area on deck 3 forward. We did have grass. They had four boxes set up as there was 4 SDs on the voyage. Bella didn't like it at all as the machine noise that I could not hear was making her a bit unease. She has a thing with certain high pitch noise. I found out that the area does have number of electrical box that probable was giving off the noise. She did fine with pee-pad in the cabin. It was bringing 40 some pads with me from the US. Glade I was flying business class and had no problem with the checked bags.
  18. Found a Vet in Amsterdam and will see them on the afternoon that I arrive. Get her treatment and go from there.
  19. I am leaving soon for a HAL cruise on the Rotterdam for a 15 days transatlantic and I will have peep pads with me as I am on Deck 11. She has been trained to use the peep pads.
  20. Number 1, you will have an easy time getting into most countries with your dog coming from those two organization. I need to jump through more hoop as my dog was not trained by ADI or GDI. You will need to put together a book with all the dogs training and certification etc. Then its country by country. UK, Australia and New Zealand is the most difficult to getting. Down under requires quarantine but there is a way to do that at home under a certified vet. You then will need to have the vet provide the correct medical documents depending on the country. I am finalizing my docs for my SD as we depart soon for Amsterdam to board a transatlantic cruise. Google is you best friend, you will need to go to each country to see what they require.
  21. I just looked up CANINE COMPANIONS, they have a chapter in Maryland. Would they help me out? I took Lady Bella through 8 wk refresher and prep for her CGCA & CGCU at AmericanK9. They can't be a member of ADI as they are not a nonprofit. Lady Bella passed the CGCA & CGCU and they did the ADI PAT evaluation also which she passed. Do you know someone? Maybe they can reach out to the chapter in Maryland.
  22. I am about to take a 15 days transatlantic cruise with my SD. We are seeing her vet just before we go to get the required health paper work taken care of so that can be send to the some countries we will be visiting. We also have an appointment with a vet in Amsterdam. My SD must have a tapeworm treatment just before we arrive in Portland England. We hope to get her a EU Dog Passport at the same time. I don't know wear you are going but if your dog is in good health it should be fine but talk it over with you vet. They will know if she will be fine to travel with you. If they are bonded to you like my SD is it hard to leave them and you need them and they know it.
