  1. @Jean C yes you are correct. I enjoy Segway tours and have done several now, in different places ( not saying where the others are in case I decide to use them later) Your turn......
  2. Yes and yes. Being specific it is on the boardwalk between where and where?
  3. I'll go back to the one I posted earlier
  4. It's the Emu mural at Lightening Ridge, NSW.
  5. Yep, Jean, over to you. You have 24 hours or 48 hours or 3 days to get a photo up.
  6. Sorry, when I read Mike's post it said Someone else post a picture, so I did. Maybe it was edited after? Happy to save mine for another time, I wasn't the winner after all. I think 3 days is a long time to wait for another photo - but happy to go with majority. Or a compromise - maybe 48 hours? But i think we need an official rule or thread stalls. Back to Mike's photo - Mt Cook, New Zealand?
  7. OK. What about this one? PS do people agree with ' 24 hour rule'? Would be good to have ' official consensus' to avoid any issues in future?
  8. I know people aren't glued to the internet so the winner should be given reasonable time to post their photo - but should there be a time limit, say 24 hours, and after that the previous person post another one or nominate the next closet guesser to do so?
  9. Hmm, never heard of Traveler's coffee before but google tells me it is world wide. Google also tells me it is Russian origin. I'm thinking 'much further north' means northern hemisphere I will try Georgia
  10. scarfs solve the shoulder problem - which I think is the easier problem because many lightweight summer tops have short sleeves anyway. Cap sleeves are OK? But if knees need to be covered, you need light weight capris or skirts or long pants like elephant pants - and I think you would have to wear them for the whole day trip - as not easy to just put on top of your shorts when you get there. Maybe a wrap around skirt would be? Anyway, following this thread -we are going to Cambodia/Vietnam early next year and will have same issue with temples.
  11. Ok, lets start narrowing it down. Are they brolgas? Is it in Australia?
  12. if CDNPolar is quoting from ocean cruise FAQ's that would explain differences like No jeans (still seems odd to me but would explain it) - has been stated many times that river cruises are a more casual vibe than ocean cruises.
  13. No problem with that. if you feel better dressing up a bit (or a lot) do so But by same token if other people feel better dressing more casually they can do so. I haven't got my Scenic brochure and FAQ's any more (and yes, I realise title of thread is Viking river cruises but discussion evolved into Europe river cruises in general ) - but jeans were permitted - and indeed many people wore them. Many people wore shorts at dinner too - aprox 1/4 of men on any given dinner night seems rather odd of Viking to not permit jeans to me since they are commonly worn to restaruants and indeed almost everywhere on land Many people wore shorts at dinner too - aprox 1/4 of men on any given dinner night. Neat almost knee length sort - as yo u would find in restaraunts at dinner in summer too
  14. I wouldn't do it. I go to places where it is warm or at most coolish. But depends how you are with cold weather.
  15. What is acceptable is up to the companies- Viking, Scenic etc - and if their dress code states casual dress code, then casual dress code is acceptable. Some people seem very bothered by what others wear.
  16. 'deteriorated' is subjective. Certainly people dress more casually - to me this is a good thing. But I guess if other people dressing casually is a deal breaker for you, don't go on a river cruise.
  17. yes it is Martindale Hall in Mintaro, which is a small town in the Clare Valley. Built in 1879, open to to the public now, fascinating example of country mansion of wealthy pastoralists of the time. Was also used as the setting for the film Picnic at Hanging Rock. your turn @MicCanberra
  18. Yes. Having taken a lot of photos in my own state, my contribution to this thread is probably going to be disproportionately slanted to SA.
