I thought the wines were excellent and most courses were except for the main course which was over cooked for my taste. You do not get to specify how you want things cooked

To each his own. Agree with no preferences, but the dinner was delicious.

Their on ship customer service has been just as poor in our experience

Bummer. I found it, albeit when I actually went there, to be fine. Although I haven't been there since the new implementations. At least the language isn't a barrier.

It's sounds like you still enjoyed it even without the elements of surprise that come with attending the first time.  We are going on Discovery in a suite again 1 year after our first time.we were discussing whether it would be worth attending again.

Curious on your take about the dinner, specifically the wine...I did not like any of the wines or the pulpo course, although loved everything else. Did you and others like the wine pairing? I like wine, don't get me wrong, but those wines...

Guess their "Suites Only" program isn't quite so. Good to know for those who cruise Princess.

Maybe it was an exception, but one that I thoroughly appreciated even though I'm not in the "Suites Only" program. There are probably special circumstances all the time.

  5. I'm a solo traveler who stays in inside cabins and none of that mattered or was even known. I made a wonderful connection with a Princess steward who took it upon themselves to get me invited, which I gladly accepted and loved the entire experience.

IMO the bottom line is anyone can be invited so for those not in suites don't think it might preclude you.

We only have the perks that went with the  $50 per day rate (amount we paid for Plus in 2022).  When they changed the rates at the beginning of this year, we had an email that if we wanted the juice bar, desserts, gym we would need to pay extra $10 per day to equal the $60 rate that now included those 3 new  items. We didn't upgrade so only have the perks offered when we booked the Plus in 2022 (gratuities, internet and drinks).

For some reason I was thinking of the casual restaurants going from included to the new structure and not factoring that they weren't part of any packages, but fares.

For me, it is ALL about the principle.   They sold one thing and are delivering another....period.

It is not going to affect my vacation in the least (we have tons of OBC) but is going to affect which cruise line I will choose going forward.

I'm reading an FAQ that I hadn't seen previously on the Princess site and found this entry "interesting" (I bolded and italicized the pertinent part).

Will I receive the new perks if I purchased Princess Plus or Premier at the old rate of $50/$75 per day?
You can absolutely upgrade to the new perks at the new price! If you do not wish to upgrade, you can enjoy the package with the original perks as you initially purchased them.

Seems like a case could be made that folks could get the perks they purchased prior to the changes to me.

... "If the guest is not there, the drink goes back."  I bet this happens a lot.

Probably, which is a waste of product and a waste of the servers time, therefore money. Eh, charge their onboard account if they can't have the decency to wait for their order. Or, tell them if it happens more than x number of times they will be charged.

Agree with you here.  Princess hastened the roll out because of the pandemic.  It was supposed to be rolled out gradually  In reality, the Regal and Royal, which were the first two ships outfitted, were supposed to be the trial ships.  Their fleet was idle for nearly 2 years so the Medallion technology was installed fleetwide during this time to best make use of the time.  The Medallion Class Experience was supposed to attract passengers during the re-start because of what Princess was advertising as "truly touchless technology."  It was also to prevent crowds from forming at bars since crowds were a big no, no during the pandemic.  Princess is now being a victim of the Medallion technology's success.  Too many passengers ordering from ANYWHERE on the ship (that's part of the problem, location of the passenger because now the crew has to gallivant all over the ship.) and not enough crew to fulfill the orders in a timely manner.

Personally, keep the app, axe the Medallions, and go back to cruise cards.  Probably won't happen with the ex-Disney guy at the helm.  (Oops, opened up a new can of worms.)

They could add a disclaimer that yes, they will deliver anywhere on the ship, but only to the location where the order was placed. If the guest is not there, the order goes back.

Gee somehow I have been on 3 Princess cruises totally 44 days and on every day of every cruise I have found a barstool and a drink in hand within minutes

FWIW On Discovery the bar service at both pool bars is very slow unless you're there very early and using the Mix bar. I've given up on trying to get service at any time at the SeaView bar.

Those on the Majestic will have to go to Alfredo's and pay for it.  Not familiar with any other older ships that don't have Slice.

Just did a review of the Princess deck plans. Here's a summary:

All ships except the ones I list below have Slice.

    Princess Pizzeria - Coral, Island

Prego Pizzeria - Diamond, Regal, Royal, Sapphire

    Chopsticks Noodle Bar - Majestic

List above includes the Star, but not the Sun.
