  1. The gold/yellow looking plug in the first pic is a right angled hdmi plug which is the source feed from the ship. Unplug that, then plug your own private (Firestick or what ever) into that slot. No need to change inputs on the front of the tv (because you can't). When your finished watching your private source, replug that adapter back in where it belongs to watch cruise ship programming. I just got off the Reflection this morning. That is what I had to do......easy peasy.
  2. Oh, and I almost forgot. Even though the gratuities were prepaid for the UDP, I would ALWAYS throw the maitre d $5 when I got something to go. Just a habit.
  3. Before you step on the ship there is a Specialty dining rep in the terminal and a just made a BUNCH of random reservations for myself (UDP) at various restaurants throughout the ship for lunch and dinner. I didn't go to all of them but I figured that they had to give you the food (to go or not). For to go dinners at specialty restaurants (with the exception of Giovanni's pizza), I tried to make sure I had a reservation for that evening (I never went exactly at my reserved time). There's only 4 specialty place, same peeps working every night. They got used to me and knew who I was. I'm going to guess, not too many people do this. The specialty restaurants have a major fear of negative reviews/feedback for some reason so they are VERY accommodating, especially if you have a reservation and have paid for UDP.
  4. On March 16th, everything was covered at Basecamp (up to $20). I never made any reservations at Pier 7 or Playmakers and I got both (7 and Play) to go along with Giovanni's Pizza and desserts from Chops (many nights). The clam chowder at Hooked was amazing but I never got it to go. It does throw them for a little bit of a loop because they're not used to a single reservation to go but after they verify your UDP they accommodated. Remember, the UDP gives you only $20 per day credit total for A la carte restaurants. "hope this helps.
  5. I just got off the Icon. I went with a party of 5 (2 cabins). I purchased UDP for 1 person (me) and prepurchased a Hook lunch, an Izumi dinner, and a Chops dinner for the other 4 peeps at a reduced rate. I was able to score UDP for $320 and after my on board credit of $225 it ended up costing me $95. Before I left I purchased a small/medium "Insulated Casserole Carrier for Hot or Cold Food, Lasagna Holder for Picnic" on Amazon. Before you step on the ship there is a Specialty dining rep in the terminal and a just made a BUNCH of random reservations for myself (UDP) at various restaurants throughout the ship. During the week, I would get pizza's to go at Giovanni's, cheesecake or apple pie desserts from Chops. Sushi from Izumi's, Loster rolls from Hooked........All to go. (or had the option to sit down and eat by myself) Here's the best part... The UDP also gives you $20 per day credit for A la carte restaurants. Chicken wings at Playmakers, Lettuce wraps at Pier 7, food at Base Camp......credit totaling up to $140 for the week. It was one of the best decisions of the trip (until you get tired of eating food)
  6. Just got off the Icon yesterday. Ate B'fast at the Windjammer at 7am, walked off the boat at 730a, I was in my car by 745a. Extremely easy embarking and disembarking process.
  7. I’m using the 5v 3a stock power supply plugged into a dedicated power strip. I’m gonna be honest…I didn’t spend a ton of time diagnosing the problem. It was working great then disconnected. Kids started complaining so I just went back to the AC750 (same speeds) and it hasn’t skipped a beat so I stuck with the 750.
  8. So I’ve been on the Icon since Saturday. The TP Link AC750 has been working flawlessly. I was getting 9-11 Mbps connecting directly to the ships WiFi with my phone and I’m getting pretty close to the same through the AC750. I have 2 connecting balconies but the signal it struggling to get though the metal walls so I placed an additional AC750 outside between our 2 balconies hanging from a strong magnetic hook in a Crown Royal bag powered by a small power bank (which lasts all day). Now both cabins are getting internet. I’ve got a Google Tv ONN box connected to 1 tv, and a firestick in the other cabin. I’m using my Directv streaming account to watch everything including my locals from home. I needed a VPN (Surfshark) when we sailed further from the US. The ship automatically boots Wireguard protocol so I changed it to IKEv2 and it works flawlessly. I also tried the MT 3000 and it connected for about an hour the it would disconnect itself. While connected, I got the 9-11 Mbps but it kept disconnecting so I just stuck with the AC750.
  9. Don't miss THE BOAT!!! Coffee started at 6 or 630a at the Café Promenade. There will be a short line waiting....... Remember, some people from the east coast will be up a 3am. The good coffee place across from that opens about an hour later. Go whale watching in Sitka if you stop there Pass on the Wonderland Spec restaurant.
  10. I was quoting and agreeing with Jasong about the bickering…. You proved his point. I once read: “Spin things however you want as it makes little difference to me.”
  11. Unfortunately, most topics are like this. Peeps spend more time giving irrelevant "opinions" instead of answers. So annoying. BTW..... "Save the Whales"....lol.....jk
  12. I would recommend the soda package (cheapest I've seen is $8.99) Get the coffee card for $31 for specialty coffees instead of a package, you both can use the card and you can buy another one if you need to and use any remaining balanced on future RC cruises.
  13. I'm on the Icon sailing March 16, 2024 for 7 days Lowest I've seen on my sailing so far: (not all at the same time) Coco Beach Club $110 Hideaway $33 Deluxe Bev $71 Unlimited Dining $321 Thrill Waterpark $75
  14. My two fav places on the Quantum were the Solarium Bistro (deck 14 forward). During the day it's used as a downsized buffet and at night I think you can make a reservation at the Bistro. You might be able to make a late reservation at the Bistro (You'll be back onboard before 10p). In the back of the ship on deck 5, Cafe Two70 is also pretty good. I'm not sure how late they stay open.
  15. It means that ANY 2 devices can be connected to the internet at the same time.
  16. The whole idea of tipping prior to receiving any type of servicing is nuts. But I do believe in tipping accordingly after you have received such service.
  17. I had a 1245p Spec lunch reservation thinking I would be onboard the Icon earlier. My check-in time was/is 1230p. I cancelled and tried to reschedule later only to find out nothing was available, even though it showed available when I booked. I called and asked about it and I was told I should've kept my 1245p and gone to guest services and they would've accommodated. If they were unable they would still refund your money.
  18. I'll be on it in 3 weeks. I'll let you know if someone doesn't chime in before.
  19. Yep, someone probably tried to get to the hdmi port and then instead of putting it back correctly they just left it.
  20. NVM, I just saw an ocean view balcony review and it looks like the TV mount just pops and swings outward like on the other ships. I usually bring a universal/programmable remote just in case and it looks like you might need a longer than normal hdmi cord if there's no accessible power outlet behind the TV.
  21. I'm hoping that you can get to the back of the TV. I've seen some videos of suites on the Icon and it looks like the TV's are built in. I'm sure there has to be access somehow though.
