Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. So true! our strategy onboard and in general is social distancing, and masking up when this is not possible e.g. elevators, bus enclosed spaces in addition to hand sanitizing etc. Just find it really inconsiderate and irresponsible those passangers to not self-isolate when sick.
  2. Yes, unfortunately we got the email overnight. I don't think they have announced yet becuase it concerns the following cruise??? ITINERARY CHANGE Please be advised that due to a planned nationwide maritime pilots' strike in Portugal, Enchanted Princess will no longer call to Madeira (Funchal), Portugal on Thursday, November 30, 2023. Instead, we will call to Gran Canaria (Las Palmas), Canary Islands from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on the same date. Princess shore excursions for Madeira (Funchal) will be refunded as a credit to your shipboard account. Shore excursions for Gran Canaria (Las Palmas) will be available to book on board
  3. It's here...Our neighbor has been down with covid (overheard on balcony) and hacking away over the last 5 days. Still went on the excursions anyway 🤨. Plenty of encounters thus far of obviously sick passangers spreading the love around.
  4. FYI - Island is docked directly behind us (Enchanted) in Messina.
  5. Great to hear everyone is getting ready! we are also excited and looking forward to the upcoming adventure. This will be our second TA, we did the Rome - FL November last year and EVERYTHING was simply fantastic including calm ocean and warm weather over the Atlantic although some guests were visibly showing signs & sympoms of Cold/Flu etc. Crossing fingers for this time..but keeping a wary eye on the weather reports. Currently getting battered by Storm Ciaran. Hope all this blows over before our cruise. Stay safe on the way and best wishes to all for a pleasant cruise :-)
  6. We got the annoying whiff of cig and cigar smoke from our balcony in addition to occasional smokestack exhaust on our TA last year. Our balcony was located on deck 14 under the aft pool so it may have come from the smoking area as well but almost certain also from nearby balcony. It was impossible to say which cabin or even deck but we did mention it to our steward. Nothing was done as far as I know.
  7. Ditto, I have the duplicate server running athome but my tests using onboard internet on our last cruise was far too slow to stream not to mention a 6 day outage during the atlantic crossing. Wondering if this will still be a factor again this year. Princess did refund the amount without explaining technically what occured. Not inclined to fork out $390 for barely usable internet this time around. In a similar vein, I am curious too see how stable local mobile data 4/5G network and throughput is (not the ship´s) will be while we are docked in EU ports. Thanks again for the tips!
  8. Thought I´d share our setup which we use to access our DVD library on-the-road/sea: 1. RaspberryPi 4 w/ 4TB SSD running WiFi HotSpot and serving... 2. Emby and streaming to... 3. Roku/Fire streaming sticks + tablets and laptops It has worked like a charm for our family for years easily handels multi-user simultaneous streaming pretty much any video format we throw at it. The Emby server is free, just the time to setup on the Raspi and convert our DVD collection. Princess disabled the menu selector on the TV but will try with a universal remote to change the input or fallback to USB if all else fails. -Jim
  9. @kml246 Many Thanks! I will splurge $8 just to be certain. Surely discussed before... but has Princess publicly stated the grounds for disabling the HDMI-IN port?? It just seems rather petty to deny use of the port. Perhaps they plan to monitize streaming On-Demand Film/TV options?? The ¨Selections¨ as I recall were laughable and quite limited on the last voyage. 1 season of Love Boat re-runs not gonna cut it for 4 weeks. I can imagine they probably don´t want passangers possibly damaging the connectors (although it was mentioned the USB port remains active which is encouraging). Now, to find out if it will accept my SSD format and codecs. https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-tv-supported-video-codecs-for-connected-usb-devices--20153095976198
  10. @culvercitycruiser Thanks for the info! Does anyone know if ANY generic LG universal remote will suffice? e.g. I will bring along an old LG MR400 to tryand cross fingers it works. I can´t locate the exact model as the one linked in the video, but the following is avail on AMZ for like 5 bucks: LG Universal Remote
  11. @skynight @Belle Nice to hear the changeover will be easier than expected. Thank You both very much for the help and CC for being a great resource!
  12. Please excuse In advance if this has been answered before... We booked back2back cruises in November on Enchanted, first the 11 day Grand Mediteranean then the 15 Day Transatlantic and unsure what we are required to do on the "turnaround day" Nov 23rd after arrival at Civitivecchia. Older posts on topic seem to indicate mandatory disembarkation (e.g. U.S. Ports) but some report it was not necessary in EU/UK. Can someone advise if we will need to check-out with luggage, disembark and re-board again? It was not possible to reserve the same stateroom for both cruises, however they are located on the same deck directly opposite each other. Appreciate any assistance! (waited on hold for hours with customer service only to be transfered and disconnected.)
