How to find Travel agent for Cruises
Anoynmous Phoenix replied to Cruising1122's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Personally I would say that you should phone your local NCL office and ask for a PCC. With luck you will get a good one!! -
"Team member fare" what does this mean?

If you see it again make a "trial booking" and see what happens. VBG -
Problems with NCL site this evening?
Anoynmous Phoenix replied to gzmtlock's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
I am on the Spirit at the south end of the Tasman Sea; no trouble accessing the cruises we have booked. -
Overnight in Livorna - What time do we need to return?
Anoynmous Phoenix replied to LEMlrm's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
@KeithJenner Richards Bay for one. -
Simple choice in two respects. Do you want a large or small ship? That means the number of passengers and children. Do you want to get to know staff from the General manager to the bartenders, waiters and steward? For me #3 the Jewel.

"Don't choose a book by its cover". To look at NCL by that one cruise and decide not to travel with them again would be a mistake. Could I suggest a 12-14 day cruise somewhere where there is a mixture of port and sea days, where there are very few under 5s and the passenger count is about 2000.

Overnight in Livorna - What time do we need to return?
Anoynmous Phoenix replied to LEMlrm's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
One problem with returning "at any time" is that it is often dependent on when the "port gates" are manned. Some ports close the "port gates" between, say, 10pm and 6am. If you want to stay out late that would be what you will need to check. -
What constitutes a Transpacific cruise?
Anoynmous Phoenix replied to Russiamomm's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
@Russiamomm The Hawaii to Papette on the Sun in October is very tempting. Could I suggest that you consider Hawai'i all the way to Sydney if you can afford the pennies and the time. We did it a few years ago when there were even more ports visited. I believe getting out of Papeete is a pain. I have heard of people having to travel home from Papeete to the USA via Sydney!! depending on the airline you favour. -
Officers & Crew 2024
Anoynmous Phoenix replied to Anoynmous Phoenix's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
The Spirit will, when it finishes the season Down Under it will be taking the place of the Jewel based in the Far East. Be prepared for a massive change in the officers as NCL will "need" more of them to be from Asia. -
I dont consider myself cheap
Anoynmous Phoenix replied to complawyer's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
ncl isnt fooling anyone with their alleged sales. NCL has NEVER had a "SALE"!!! They just change the wording to appear that they are. There is a logical reason for this!! If there is a price drop BEFORE final payment you can get a re-fare/cancel & rebook. (The cynic in me says they will soon alter that.) BUT after final payment you now can only get something if the T&Cs are EXACTLY the same as they were when you booked. That is why they change them every few weeks!!! (What me a cynic; NO!!!!!!!) -
What constitutes a Transpacific cruise?
Anoynmous Phoenix replied to Russiamomm's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
A true TransPacific would be the northern route; Yokohama/Tokyo to Seward or reverse. I don't know if they are offering a single cruise Yokohama/Tokyo to Vancouver. The central TransPacific route is usually offered as part cruises; I don't think a full TransPacific is offered. Parts are Vancouver or Los Angeles to Hawai'i; Hawai'i to Papeete; Papeete to Sydney or Auckland. With the reverse as well. -
Minimum order at specialty restaurants?
Anoynmous Phoenix replied to JessC510's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
You pay for what you order if you don't have a package. No minimum BUT you may get a few polite but queer looks if you just order one item and a glass of wine. -
Last year we did Reykjavik to Tromsø to Reykjavik. First part via Svalbard and the second via Faroes. So a number of different Norwegian ports BUT some Icelandic ones were repeated. A warning ship tours on these itineraries were expensive as is Iceland if you have days there before and/or after. We would recommend those B2B.

Any Laundry Issues or Suggestions
Anoynmous Phoenix replied to thedoc29ca's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
We have done LOTS of cruises and have never had a problem. We do the small underwear in the sink and send the rest to be done on board. Always excellent service, at most 2 full days. Be careful with the bag you pot it in ;easy to rip. If you are using the free service from the Latitudes system get as much as you can by rolling all clothes tightly. If you are on a longer cruise and there are two of you and you are both in the free regime put one name and "Latitudes" on the outside of the bag in Bold letters and then use the other name on teh second lot. -
Lunch in the open Main Dining Room on Embarkation Day. We then KNOW that we are about to go cruising again.

Nearly a new year so I thought I would start a new "Where are they now" thread? Anyone know who the officers are on the Jewel at the moment please? Thanks

NCL Cruises to Australia/New Zealand
Anoynmous Phoenix replied to unclegrandpa's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
@itsnotjustme Eden & Burnie were dropped earlier this year (May?). It was also changed so that the ship was to remain in Sydney overnight after embarkation day for the whole next day. There are two cruises in January that had Akaroa changed to Lyttleton and then changed to Timaru during the year too. It is interesting, and annoying, that the 9th February cruise is the only cruise that is going to Akaroa. -
Can Anyone Book NCL for the Price Listed?
Anoynmous Phoenix replied to peachcreamsicle's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
I think that you will find that Sailaway is not always offered when the cruises are first listed. Then when they are they sell out VERY quickly. -
It would be interesting to see what the statement is in the Freestyle Daily for the Spirit. We were on Prima a little while ago and the following appeared on the Freestyle Daily While on the Star. just before we were on the Prima, the following appeared In both cases no mention of a, "normal", shorts ban in either MDR. A P

From the Latitude Rewards information IMPORTANT: Rewards points are applied to your account after you return from your cruise. Points will be applied within 48 hours after you have completed a sailing. Effective 1-February 2016, missing cruises must be claimed within 12 months from the day the cruise ends, in order to receive Latitudes points. We are unable to respond to requests submitted after the 12 month deadline has expired. So I'm afraid not.
