I’m glad you have had good luck with this.

The one time we tried to do it, we were in a grand suite and our steward refused to make up the sofa into a bed. We made it work anyway.

Maybe I didn’t ask nicely enough or should have “taken care” of him then instead of planning to do so at the end of the cruise.

I guess we have been lucky, but after 60+ cruises on multiple lines I don't remember ever having a room steward tell us no to any request.  Then again, we don't ask for much.  We have had grands overnight with us on both Carnival & NCL and never had issues with it.  On our last Carnival cruise we had one grandson bunk with us the whole week.  No issues from the steward.

In your case, I don't believe I would have "taken care" of that steward at the end of the cruise!

  2. Of course he can, we do this all the time when cruising with our kids and grandkids.  Our stewards have always been happy to make up the couch into a bed, even in a cabin for 2.  Enjoy your cruise with the family!

  3. We have had aft balconies 3 times on Epic, cabins 11313 twice and 11314.  Never had any problems with noise or soot.  The balconies are huge, had two chairs, a table and two recliners.  We have 11314 booked for Greek Isles next Spring.  Love the Epic aft balconies!

Just wanted to post an update...we did a 22 nite cruise on the Enchanted this past October.  We ended up getting 4 'complimentary' specialty dinners...not 2.  Not sure if this is always the case, but it was for me.

We had a similar experience on Enchanted in January.  We booked a 20 day cruise and expected 2 complimentary dinners, but ended up getting 4, 2 for each 10 day segment.

  5. How strict is Celebrity on your arrival time at Port Everglades?  We will be disembarking Enchanted Princess and boarding Celebrity Equinox.  The earliest arrival time we could get was 11:30 and I am sure Princess will want us off their ship long before that!  Just wondering if we arrive early, if we will have to wait until our arrival time to check-in.  It's been a while since we have sailed on Celebrity.  Thanks.

I just booked the Escape for January so of course there are no dining reservations available before 9 pm. Food Republic says “please book onboard” rather than “not available to book” like some of the others. Were you able to pre book Food Republic or did you have to book that once on board. I am planning on getting on as early as possible (we are platinum) and I am hoping at least that restaurant will have some decent options. Le Bistro is my favorite but I’m not counting on reservations being available.

There will be reservations available when you board.  We booked last minute and were able to book 4 specialty restaurants with the times we wanted once onboard.  Go to Headliners or Tepanyaki to make your reservations as soon as you board.  We had a great time this week and are not looking forward to disembarking in the morning.

Of course, if you will be sailing early in the morning and coming close to the shore they may keep it closed due to local custom regulations. At night when we left around 6 within 1 hour tables were open. You should ask on the HAL board. Best information from those that sail the Line.

Evenings will be enough for him. I was going to post this on the HAL board, but figured it would be moved to this one.

Nothing wrong with the cabin with the port holes, but it was an Alaska cruise and really missed the large window and ability to see some sights in our cabin.  It also was a complete surprise since HAL didn't used to disclose those.  Now they are very clear about where they are.  Cruise was still wonderful as they all are.  I just wouldn't choose that cabin again if I had a choice.  If it's go- or- no- go--go with the port holes!

Ok, thanks.  We booked so late that there were no large windows left.  We only have 1 sea day out of 10, so won't be spending that much time in the cabin.

We have been on Dolphin deck a few times.  Loved being this close to the water and a fun ride.  Did not enjoy the porthole cabin we had once.

What was the issue with the porthole cabin?  We have one booked for September.  We booked late, so not many cabins were available.

Yes, OBC can be used for Crew Appreciation (gratuities) It can also be used to purchase items in the shops or any Specialty Dining reservations you make onboard or any number things.

Thank you.  We already have dining reservations and don't really buy much in the shops (our 54th cruise), so we will be happy to use it for the Crew Appreciation.  I thought we used it once before for gratuities on HAL, but have been getting conflicting reports.

  11. Trying to figure out if I can use my onboard credit to cover gratuities, or if I should prepay them.  Any recent cruisers have experience with this?  We have shore excursion credit and Have It All, so don't know what we will use the onboard credit for if we can't use it for the gratuities.  I have read conflicting accounts about it.  Thanks.
