Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Haven’t sailed Oceania before. We had booked a May cruise that was canceled due to issues getting the ship to the Med from Asia (Red Sea conflicts). On that cruise, we had purchased the beverage upgrade for my husband only. So I was surprised when my TA said that could not be done when booking our replacement cruise. The guest services desk will be our first stop once we get on board.
  2. I recently tried to upgrade drink package for just my husband and, unfortunately, found out they changed their policy on Feb 28 this year. They now state that both people in cabin have to upgrade the drink package if doing so prior to the cruise. But they also state that one person in the cabin may upgrade once on board. Makes no sense, but that’s how they state it in the FAQs.

  4. I think the cabins on deck 10 are all booked
  5. Looking at booking guaranteed A1 cabin on Riviera. Can anyone tell me if there are negatives to rooms on Deck 11, which appear to all be located below the pool deck. Specifically, do you hear noise from chairs being moved across the pool deck when crew is cleaning?
  6. I think this is a very reasonable approach. If the person has not been in the pool area for more than 30 minutes, I would have no qualms about removing their items. The more this behavior is tolerated, the worse it will get. According to other posts on this topic, Oceania feels exposed to liability if one of their employees moves the items. Guess it will be up to fellow cruise passengers to reign in this emotionally immature practice.
  7. Perhaps the key is that Oceania employees can’t remove personal items from unattended chairs without opening themselves up to liability for those items. But that doesn’t mean other cruise passengers can’t move the items. Sounds like Oceania is hoping the issue will resolve itself.
  8. They have tons of fine print in their cruise contract to keep them from getting sued. Seems a no-brainer to include another sentence about the cruise line not being responsible for personal items left unattended in public spaces.
  9. Doubt could a lawsuits like that ever gain win. Does Oceania state they will be responsible for unattended items? A few simple signs around the pool deck stating Oceania is not responsible for unattended items is all it would take to resolve the problem.
  10. That would be my approach also. Nice to know I’m not the only one that sees this as an effective way to handle childish behavior.
