New "Marvelous Voyages" dropping over the next few weeks.
Eric&Pam replied to CruisingWalter's topic in Virgin Voyages
I believe Virgin was a better deal even before the price drop, and let's face it,price isn't the only thing to consider. We look at quality vs price to determine value. -
New "Marvelous Voyages" dropping over the next few weeks.

I just priced a 14 day Princess cruise from Quebec to Fort Lauderdale, to compare to our 13 day Virgin sailing from Quebec to Miami, both in October 2025. Princess is $1700 more without adding the cost of specialty dining which could be as much as $90 each night for 2, making Princess $2960 higher than Virgin. -

We booked a sea terrace for the 13 day Quebec to Miami sailing when it was released the same day as the Panama Canal. I just re-fared it yesterday and saved over $2200 -

Are embarkation times enforced at Miami?
Eric&Pam replied to Cruise Gopher's topic in Virgin Voyages
Since you have a ton of sailings with X, you should apply for status match with Virgin. It won't get you an earlier boarding time, but there are a few nice perks. https://www.virginvoyages.com/sailing-club/status-match-loyalty-program -
Richard's Rooftop is accessible all day to suite gusts, and has a free happy hour daily from 5-6pm There's good info here: https://vvinsider.com/guides-and-faqs/guide/rockstar-suites/

We drink wine at dinner - how big should our bar tab be?
Eric&Pam replied to beachtango's topic in Virgin Voyages
A glass or two with dinner or bottles? By the way, you can bring 2 bottles of wine in your carry-on luggage. -
Up to $300 Bar Tab Credit: Cardholders can enjoy a Bar Tab credit to use on board for any drink. Note: The Bar Tab perk is likely based on voyage length but is not known at this time. Blue Extras Perk Package: This package includes added conveniences like laundry, an exclusive cocktail party, and daily coffee. (If you already have DBE, this doesn't mean much) Virgin Atlantic: Choose a Flying Club reward voucher for a companion seat or a cabin upgrade. Virgin Hotels: Enjoy a complimentary night stay or a suite upgrade at participating Virgin Hotels. You can pick between all of the Virgin reward perks up to twice yearly providing you hit the minimum spend so you could mix and match the Bar Tab with a complimentary Hotel stay. Points on Purchases: Earn 3 Virgin Points per $1 spent with Virgin brands, 2 points per $1 on dining and groceries, and 1 point per $1 on other purchases. Annual Fee: The card has a $99 annual fee, with perks that can more than make up for the cost. Anniversary Bonus: Receive 5,000 Virgin Points each year upon renewal. New cardholders who spend $3,000 within the first 90 days will also receive a limited-time bonus of 40,000 Virgin Points, enough for two round-trip flights.

If you have Deep Blue Extras, or a Splash Of Romance as part of your booking, you can board around 1:45pm right after the Rock Stars, despite the boarding time on your app.

We've heard horror stories of some demanding MRS, including wanting specific pieces of gym equipment moved to their suite, and for many years I used to work around all sorts of rock stars as backstage security, so the first thing I did when I met our agent, was to assure her that we were easy-going, and were not going to be demand or expect anything crazy. This put her at ease right away. Kindness and respect go a looong way. Instead of giving her a list, we had a nice conversation about what we liked, and how our days normally go, and she picked-up on everything. An extra set of bath towels were brought in, as were extra cans of Coke, and a large bucket of ice was replenished twice daily for drinks. She also delivered my wife's salted caramel latte every morning at 7:30am, and there was always a plate of cookies and a bottle of ice-cold milk waiting for us each night when we returned to our cabin. Our laundry was collected each morning, and returned later that evening. One special request she took care of was to make sure a special bottle of Champagne we had brought on board with us was already in an ice-bucket next to our table, waiting for us when we arrived for dinner. She also arranged a bridge tour for us, although it's ultimately up to the captain if tours are allowed or not. Our agent knew all of the managers of the dining venues, and they always stopped by to make sure we were happy.....it's as if she was there taking care of us, even when she wasn't. The crew know who the MRS are, and it was a fabulous experience. Again, kindness and respect go a looong way.

I'd sneak out and tell our waiter/waitress that I'd like to buy a particular bottle for the folks sitting next to us. In one case, it was a couple who was upset that their favorite style of wine was not available by the glass, and only by the bottle. In the other cases, I would choose the wine based on what they ordered and our conversation with the couple. (I used to sell wine wholesale and write wine lists many years ago)

When I make this at home, I add lump crab meat 😍

We enjoyed the hell out of our Gorgeous Suite. The Mega Rock Star treatment is top-notch throughout the ship. Your agent will ask you things like what you like first thing in the morning, and what time you'd like them delivered, so my wife's salted caramel cappuccino would show up promptly at 7:30am every day. Your laundry will be taken care of daily as well. The 2 bottles of wine daily is a nice feature. We "bought" bottles for neighboring tables a few times.

I make the shrimp at home.....mix minced garlic into plain yogurt, and add Aleppo Pepper flakes to melted butter. If you can't find Aleppo Pepper flakes locally, there's always Amazon.

I currently have one of these booked for the Halloween Cruise, but I've also got a bid in for an XL, so who knows what I'll end up with.

More VV Newbie Questions - XL ST v Central & Richard's Rooftop...
Eric&Pam replied to Liao's topic in Virgin Voyages
The XL has a larger bathroom, and some don't have hammocks. You can search for individual cabin quirks here: https://vvinsider.com/cabins/ The Rock Star Agents can take care of all your dining reservations. Most shows don't need reservations, and you can stand by the front of the line just by showing the crew member at the front of the line that you are a Rock Star. As it stands now, there is only 1 suite available for this sailing and it's a Brilliant Suite. (14277Z) We only went to RR a few times, and don't remember seeing anyone eating. It was hot & sunny, during a Caribbean sailing in May. As for the alcohol in your suite, I don't see why they couldn't remove it if that's what you want. You could always gift the bottles to any new friends you make.
