  1. We will be on a 21 day Med and Adriatic cruise on Oosterdam this summer from Athens to Rome. We have three nights of specialty dining, and I want to schedule strategically. Any insight on how often the menus repeat in the MDR? I can't imagine 21 unique menus. Any insights would be appreciated.
  2. So just settle on the ship is what I am hearing. Thanks for the tip!
  3. I recently purchased a discounted Carnival gift card through AARP, my wondering is should I apply it to purchasing cruise cash (online) prior to sailing or redeem it on the ship. Not sure of any pitfalls either way.
  4. Yup, we did 14 nights in Europe (14 night Voyage of the Midnight Sun) this past summer on this type of deal. If you want to go...jump on it as it is capacity controlled!
  5. Glad to hear that Allure is doing well! We will be sailing on her in April!
  6. Oosterdam- June 24, 2024-21-Day Mediterranean, Adriatic & Italian Splendor- Ross and Mona just celebrating life!
  7. Please keep in mind the drink price limits for the HIA as it is the signature package capped at $11.00 per drink. If you drink scotch and your wife enjoys sparkling wines, the package may not cover the brands you like. In that case you would need to upgrade the package. I am a bourbon drinker and found that I needed to upgrade my package for the brands I like as they were over the $11.00 price tag.
  8. Your husband will be fine without a tie. Many gentlemen go without wearing a tie...me included. I stopped bringing a sports jacket now as it is not necessary and bulky to pack. I often change back to my regular clothes after dinner, but most do not.Our experience with HAL cruises to the Caribbean, is two Gala nights per 7 day cruise.
  9. Is a noon flight from Hobby too early? I will be on Allure in April RT Galveston.
  10. We just sailed RT from Amsterdam. We flew in the day before the cruise and stayed at a hotel right at the central train station. for 5 Euros each the train was a great option. from our hotel it cost us about 10 Euros to get to the ship. As far as leaving, we carried off our luggage, caught a cab to the airport (80 Euros) and joined the chaos that is AMS. The airport is always a zoo as it is a major hub. We waited 1.5 hours to drop our bags and then about 45-50 minutes to clear security. Passport control took 5 minutes and we were off to our gate. If you can, it might be a good idea to spend a day or so in Amsterdam after the cruise and enjoy the offerings of Amsterdam.
  11. I would take it in a heartbeat. We just got off Rotterdam (sister ship) and had an obstructed balcony cabin and it was great. Views are fine other than straight down.
  12. We had a grand time! Rotterdam did not disappoint and we had beautiful, clear, and sunny weather for most of the voyage. It was certainly a trip to remember and we can't wait to get back on a HAL ship soon!
  13. Thanks! We had a great rip! Wonderful clear and warm weather. Rotterdam did not disappoint
  14. We are going to be sailing on the Spirit next week to Alaska and am considering which internet package to get for my kids. They like to watch YouTube videos as well as Ticktock. They also are big Instagram users. Will the value package suffice or should I pay the extra $3 per day for the premium? Any insight is greatly appreciated.
  15. Not the case. I booked main cabin and requested early ticketing and was able to book seats on my flight on KLM instantly once I had my confirmation number. It all depends on the airline policy as well as the fare code the flight is booked with.
  16. No big deal, I am not sure what you are waiting for in delaying your flight booking, but mostly they need to know for debarkation purposes and if they have any delays happening.
  17. Will Carnival allow my son to cruise with a passport that expires 5 months after travel dates? We are doing a 7 night from Seattle to Alaska
  18. I looked at the port schedule for our upcoming HAL Rotterdam Cruise on June 26th and now it says that we are leaving from the Waterlands Terminal. Anyone have any information on how far out this is from Amsterdam city center? Do they have check in facilities at this terminal or will we need to be bussed? Any information would be appreciated.
